With so many midfield options, you've got to go a 5 (or minimum 4) in midfield

Well, D is the most nailed pair. Potentially the best option if you can bench Mariappa every week.
If you need the defender to play, probably Quaner + Masuaku + cash ITB

I really want to get rid of Kane as well. Would have to make a plan how I'd get him back for the double if I decide to go for it (likely Morata out). Austin has looked good but does it make sense to get him and start only in next gameweek and bench for the other 2? Or are you planning to play him against Spurs and United away?
Not sure tbh. Cant see too many other good options to replace Bony, which is why Im considering Austin. DCL is my third striker
Yep, there isn't. I was considering Rashford if I go that route. But Pogba similar price and nailed so bringing Rashford who isn't nailed doesn't make sense.
DCL/Austin do rotate quite well. Still not sure about Austin, he passes the eye test but his limited minutes is a worry.
Game time a major concern. Even considering Abraham to replace Bony. Swa look terrible but next few fixtures are good

This is a completely classic case of overthinking way beyond reasonable doubt.
The fewer first-choice players you have in a team the weaker it is. I think it's perfectly reasonable to believe that missing two of the best players not just from a team but from a defensive unit is going to have a detrimental effect on that team, especially as Southampton have been poor defensively recently.

Nope. Not trolling at all. I think you are genuinely overthinking things.
Firstly Bertrand is nothing more than a doubt.
Secondly Southampton can easily play 3 at the back or Yoshida RB to cover Cedric.
It will make no measurable difference whatsoever. So basing your Kane in or out strategy with this information in mind would be foolish.
