Share:

Gameweek 24 begins by the seaside as Brighton host champions Chelsea at the Amex Stadium.

Despite notable absentees for Chelsea, there is keen interest from a Fantasy perspective.

The Blues defence is heavily backed and, with five clean sheets from their last six Gameweeks, we should perhaps expect further returns against a goal-shy Seagulls.

However, with Thibaut Courtois missing through injury, there is disruption in the Chelsea rearguard, which could mean that owners of Marcos Alonso and Andreas Christensen may well be forced to seek attacking returns.

That’s not out of the question given that Antonio Conte’s side rank second for attempts from corner kicks, while Brighton have conceded more goals from dead-balls than any other side, including 12 from corners.

Elsewhere, the inclusion of Michy Batshuayi in Conte’s line-up suggests that Hazard will be sparred a false nine role, with Chelsea perhaps lining up in a 3-4-2-1.

Brighton’s formation is also significant, as Chris Hughton mirrors Chelsea’s three-man defence by handing a start to Connor Goldson alongside Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy. That’s a situation to monitor given his price tag of just 3.9.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So what's the point of your captain hindsight comment mate?

You looking for a reaction and you got it.

Nothing to do with hindsight. I was congratulating owners on making a logical decision not to sell this gw.

If you find that so offensive that you felt the need to try and berate me then that's on you. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

                  8 years, 6 months ago

The point is you called it the correct decision after the game and not before it. Hence hindsight.

Lol, hence I said it was the logical decision. Logical decisions don't need to be shouted out prior although many mentioned on here all week that selling wasn't smart.

You're just trying to pick a fight over nothing.

It was a positive post congratulating owners so get over yourself champ.

You're behaving like a troll. I'm done with this pointless discussion.

Ok so here is the basics of getting Chelsea players in... I'm a season ticket holder and watch all the games. It all depends on the the formation in FPL terms.

Hazard (and other mids) do better in 3-4-3 or 3-4-2-1 and also in that formation Willian/Pedro is likely to play more often, making them an option. This formation works as it has multiple players making movement and attacking at pace before the wing backs join in and create an overload. This is the formation that won 30 of 38 games last year and was solid defensively. Only when we play this formation do i feel it's worth getting attacking players. Hazard is gold when we play like this and Willian becomes a very strong choice as well. Morata gets more goals too. How Barkley fits in this formation would be interesting as i think he may be up against Willian and Pedro for the 2nd attacking spot.

In the 3-5-2 Morata (Bats) and Hazard are left more lonely, the play is more direct and they are left waiting for support from wing backs as the midfielders are sat deep. In this formation we don't have as much possession as Morata and Hazard lose it more quickly as they have to take people on and end up going down blind alleys and when the mids try to pass forward to them they are outnumbered and the ball comes back, this puts more pressure on our def. Hence we concede more goals.

Alonso is big in both formations, but i fear the signing of Emerson Palmeri means that he will be rested more often, especially either side of Barca and other late stages of cups. Christensen should be totally nailed but it just seems that he misses out for strange reasons. He is only 21 and easily a player who can spend the next 10 years at the centre of a Chelsea def. Rudiger is really good and only 24 however i fear rotation when Cahill returns but as it stands it's Rudigers place to lose.

    Tldr.
Don't bother with attackers until Conte changes formation. I think Azpi/Alonso if you want a def. Azpi for solidity and Alonso more explosive opportunities (even though Azpi is only 10 pts behind).

I've gone for azpi and Alonso for consistency. They are banked for the rest of the season regardless.

Plenty of room across the front 8 for spurs Liverpool and city, can toy with Arnie son and pogba etc for the rest. Taking the risk of no Chelsea attack

It's frightening not owning Aguero for this gw tbh. 2 rivals captain him!

Yes it is. I dont like it. Most important thing this gameweekis an Aguero blank. Everything else is fine.

Well done Hazard owners, bet that felt good. Love him as a player, just can't fit him in my team personally!

He's been a very poor fpl asset this season

Yeah quite lumpy and inconsistent. Always looks so dangerous though, just a matter of timing owning him

Hmm. wondering what match to watch. I would like to watch United or Leicester because of the players in my team. But the Everton squad is very interesting, would be nice to see how their players look.

Sky sport or BT for the updates, always been Sky but have been switching over to BT lately.

      BT.

Quick with assists as well, only really focus on the Prem and Jules Breach.

Don't bother with any as they both can be quite annoying, I just use flash score for updates while I am out walking the dogs

Which bandwagon will be bigger. Willian or Walcott?

      Willian, Walcott is useless.

No, not really. He's not an assured starter. More likely to be subbed on than Pedro, but probably being Morata (and Dzeko if he comes?)

Would currently consider him in Draft.

Very rarely off on a Saturday. Is there usually a 3 o'clock dug out discussion?

Been playing fpl for a few years and Christensen has to be one of the unluckiest picks I've made

RIP Cyrille. As a Coventry fan I have happy memories of him watching as a young lad in the late 80's. Also, my first budgie was named after him by my Dad. So there we go.

I'm too young to remember him but the outpouring of respect for him shown in the last few days is heartwarming. Nice tribute RIP
