While the Gameweek is in full swing, it’s not too late to dive into our partner game Yahoo who are offering more big-money prizes covering tonight’s fixtures.

They are rolling out a Premier League £3.5k Wednesday contest which takes in all seven matches from this evening’s top-flight action.

Getting underway at 7.45pm, the contest is guaranteed to run, costs £5 to enter and is a multi-entry game, which means you can select up to eight teams. The top 174 places pay out – there’s a minimum win-back of £10, with £350 going to the first place.

Driven by Opta data, the Yahoo game has a unique scoring system which is tailor-made for members of our community seeking out a Daily Fantasy Sports game.

If you’re new to Yahoo, you can sign up and claim a free £50 in credit to your account when you deposit just £5. Promo code: Fantasy50.

It’s also worth having a look over our Strategy Guide before selecting your line-ups, as this gives you a better idea of the Yahoo game and the types of players who tend to benefit.

FFS Strongest XI

Ederson – £16
John Stones – £15
Maya Yoshida – £14
Marcos Alonso – £17
Eden Hazard – £25
Cesc Fabregas – £18
Xherdan Shaqiri – £18
Johan Berg Gudmundsson– £16
Bernardo Silva – £14
Sergio Aguero – £28
Theo Walcott – £19

We’re backing Man City right across the positions in our Yahoo XI, with Ederson one of four players from Pep Guardiola’s side selected for a home encounter with West Brom.

Up against a travel-sick attack with just four goals in their last eight top-flight road trips, the league leaders will be confident of improving a record that’s surprisingly produced just one clean sheet in seven at the Etihad.

Ederson also benefits from the Yahoo scoring system – keepers earn points for wins or draws and pick up double the number of points as defenders for a clean sheet.

Rested for the weekend FA Cup win over Cardiff, John Stones looks set for a first-team return against the Baggies.

We’d prefer the goal threat of his more expensive team-mate Nicolas Otamendi but, with Guardiola’s options now increasing in central defence with the arrival of Aymeric Laporte, there’s a chance the Argentine could be rested for this one.

Despite featuring just eight times at home, Stones still sits among the top seven defenders for successful passes (599) in front of his own fans. City, meanwhile, have allowed fewer shots in the box (44) than any side at home.

Utilised off the bench in the weekend FA Cup win over Watford, Maya Yoshida is expected to return to the Southampton teamsheet in time to host a Brighton side that’s failed to score in six successive road trips. The Japan international has fired 16 efforts inside the box in 18 appearances this season – only five defenders have managed more.

Marcos Alonso remains a peerless big-hitting option at the back as Chelsea welcome Bournemouth to Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Conte’s men have offered outstanding resilience in home matches, conceding just twice in the last eight in front of their own fans across all competitions. Alonso, meanwhile, is the number one defender for shots (45), attempts on target (17) and goals (six), and grabbed a goal and assist in the FA Cup win over Newcastle on Sunday.

Five goals in his last four league appearances against Eddie Howe’s men books Eden Hazard’s place in our line-up. With Alvaro Morata still sidelined and Michy Batshuayi poised for a move, the Belgian looks likely to lead the line this evening. He’s warmed up nicely for this one, too, bagging three goals in as many matches in all competitions.

We’re also backing the fit-again Cesc Fabregas to return to Chelsea’s XI against the Cherries. An unused sub in the weekend cup win over Newcastle, the Spaniard is ranked first for successful crosses (18), key passes (42) and big chances created (seven) at Stamford Bridge. Only Cesar Azpilicueta (716 to 665) has made more successful passes at home among the Chelsea contingent.

Stoke playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri is handed a starting berth at home to a Watford defence with one clean sheet in 10 on the road. The Potters’ number one for shots on target (22), successful crosses (36) and chances created (49), the Swiss international has been involved in 48% of his side’s goal when on the pitch. In terms of big chances created, only Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne (13) has bettered Shaqiri’s 12.

The number one player for successful crosses (12) and key passes (14) over Gameweek 21-24, Johan Berg Gudmundsson’s distribution could prove decisive for Burnley’s trip to Newcastle. The Magpies have conceded more headed attempts (62) than any side this season and have mustered just one clean sheet in their last eight at St James’ Park across all competitions.

An ankle injury for Leroy Sane looks set to boost Bernardo Silva’s pitch-time for Man City. Priced at just £14 in Yahoo, the summer signing has stepped up his output in recent weeks, producing three goals and six assists in his last 13 matches across all competitions. Silva looks likely to take up the right flank role against a Baggies backline that places third bottom for crosses conceded (285) down their left side.

We have to make room for Sergio Aguero after his hat-trick against Newcastle last time out. In terms of home goals, the Man City frontman is now tied with Harry Kane at the summit on 10 apiece – good news as he goes head-to-head with a West Brom defence that’s mustered a single clean sheet in their last 11 road trips.

We turn to Theo Walcott as Everton look to take advantage of the Riyad Mahrez unrest and get the better of Leicester at Goodison Park. The winter signing wasted no time in making his mark for the Toffees, supplying an assist on his debut in the Gameweek 24 stalemate with West Brom. The Foxes have struggled to keep out opponents on the road – indeed, their clean sheet at Chelsea was a first in eight away matches.

As Yahoo allows late swaps up until each kick-off, our listed line-up may well be subject to change.

The Midweek Contests

As well as the Premier League £3.5k Wednesday contest, Yahoo are also offering a Premier League £600 Wednesday contest that takes in the same seven fixtures.

This is also guaranteed to run, but costs just £1 to enter and is a multi-entry game, which means you can select up to six teams. The top 155 places pay out – there’s a minimum win-back of £2, with £60 going to the first place.

You can open an account and get started immediately.

If you register and deposit £5 or more, Yahoo will also give you a £50 bonus to be used as cash to enter paid contests.

Register here to claim the bonus.

You must be over 18 years of age, resident in the UK, and of legal capacity to register with Yahoo Daily Sports and open an Account. If you sign up, please always play responsibly.

Everton should have enough to beat Mahrezless Leic.
Soton to beat Brighton at home.
    Man Utd to dominate Spurs.

    13/1 Treble or there abouts.

    Have it!

It manifests in different ways according to the times. Nowadays it might mean switching mid-contract more often, but it says nothing about a personal genuine loyalty (which isn't much of an attribute anyway). It's just a job, and these players have/will have lives outside of football, families etc.

Great post! Very true and insightful.

Tried to explain to my 15yo son today who’s in the Australian Junior Hockey team how Sanchez gets 400k per week. He said, “Dad, we’re not even worth that with all we own!”

Auba price predictions and Giroud fpl prospects at Chelsea?

    1. Ibracadabra
      • 16 Years
      8 years, 2 months ago

If Morata back injury is serious (no idea of current status), then Giroud should start and at 8.2m will provide good value.

Auba price should be around 9M-10M in my opinion.

      1. Ibracadabra
        • 16 Years
        8 years, 2 months ago

I think 9M-10M is better with Arsenal current form, and the form of 9M players like Firmino/Vardy.

If he is 10.5M like Morata / Laca were pre-season I think that would be a bit rich...

£10.5? Surely around the same as Lacazette.

I’m very tempted to get Giroud in, he scores when he plays and should start at least the next few.

Yeah. Same with Coutinho. Put a massive price tag on him and keep for as long as possible.

We caved in like cowards on that deal - but it was agreed in advance sadly.

I’d say coward is to strong a word and we milked him and Barcelona for all they’re worth. I’m happy with what we got but obviously very sad to see him go.
                I loved him.

I can kinda see where Pep was coming from going for Mahrez though. Sane and Jesus being injured leaves just Aguero+Sterling+Bernardo, added to Silva's issues as well...not good. But this is a good opportunity to give Diaz and Foden (when he returns) a chance. UCL will be a little tougher though.

2 attacking players are out for a few weeks let's dish out another 60m to cover them. City mentality

Riyadh needs to learn how to challenge himself consistently again in a team where he has to fight to play.

Pep would have made him earn his spot.

What message does the Mahrez interest send to the youth players? Arguably two of the biggest talents in the country barely get the chance to play when key players are injured.

Pretty tough only having 40 million world class player bernando Silva as cover.

    Cech

    Bellerin • Mustafi • Koscielny • Monreal

    Xhaka

    Ozil • Wilshere

    Mkhi • Auba • Lacazette

    Is not bad on paper

Perhaps, although I'm not sure why everyone expected mkhi to nail a spot. Ever wonder why he wasn't even making the bench for united? I was surprised people actually got him. That being said if Wenger may want to renew the old patnership mkhi and auba had, tho i still feel he's more of bench cover than starting 11.

People will still be desperate to sell him. I already did before the deadline, but I would keep now if I had him, pending more news.

Paul Hirst on twitter - Mcfc have pulled out of the running for Mahrez. Leicester wanted a package worth £95m. City were only willing to offer around £60m.

How many year does Mahrez have left on his contract at LCFC? Surely Leicester will need to cash in on him at some point. Maybe the summer
