Our selection of Theo Walcott paid off handsomely in midweek, so now we go in seek of more differentials who can get close to his explosive 15-point return.

We’ve opted for two more midfielders with promising home fixtures, while a Crystal Palace striker is backed to build on his recent run of form.

Mesut Ozil

Fresh from signing a new three-year contract with the Gunners, and given his outstanding home form, Mesut Ozil gets our seal of approval for today’s late kick-off against Everton.

The Arsenal midfielder has produced three goals and five assists in his last eight matches at the Emirates Stadium, only blanking against Manchester United and Chelsea.

He is creating a chance every 22 minutes at home, compared to every 30 minutes on the road, and faces an appetising match-up against the Toffees.

Sam Allardyce’s side conceded four goals on their last trip to London, when they lost 4-0 to Tottenham Hotspur, and have failed to keep a clean sheet in five straight matches.

Indeed, over the last four Gameweeks, they have conceded more big chances (13) than any other team.

Ozil, who is owned by just 2.6% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, will be starting alongside Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the attacking midfield positions for the Gunners, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could make his Premier League debut if he recovers from illness.

The new faces should help provide fresh impetus to the Arsenal attack, and Ozil, who costs 9.3 in FPL, is expected to be a central figure in another strong home performance.

Christian Benteke

A favourable home fixture against Newcastle United on the back of a goal and three assists over the last four Gameweeks leads us to believe that Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke can deliver in Gameweek 26.

The Belgian was on the scoresheet in the 1-1 draw with West Ham United in midweek and will carry that confidence into Sunday’s encounter.

There is also the fact that he now has competition for his place following the arrival of Norwegian target man Alexander Sorloth, giving the former Liverpool striker no room for complacency.

Benteke tops the forward ranks for big chances (five) over the last four Gameweeks. And with Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha manning the supply line, he should continue to get the opportunities to build on Tuesday night’s goal.

Certainly Newcastle don’t appear to have the defensive resolve to deal with the Palace threat. They arrive at Selhurst Park with just one clean sheet from their last 10 away matches and only three teams have conceded more big chances than the Magpies (nine) over the last four Gameweeks.

Rafa Benitez’s men also sit fourth for the most headed attempts (10) conceded from those four fixtures, which is certainly an area that Benteke can look to exploit.

Sat in just 2.4% of FPL squads and available at 7.6, the Eagles striker looks the ideal gamble for Fantasy managers seeking a one-week punt.

Junior Stanislas

It’s easy to see why Bournemouth’s Junior Stanislas has made the cut this week.

The Cherries midfielder registered a goal and an assist in Wednesday night’s outstanding 3-0 victory over Chelsea and has a plum home fixture against Stoke City this afternoon.

No team has conceded more goals away from home than the Potters (30), although they are yet to concede in two matches under new boss Paul Lambert.

But Stanislas’ track record against Stoke further enhances his appeal.

The midfielder totalled a season-high 13 points when the two sides last met in Gameweek 9, registering a goal, assist and maximum bonus.

He also produced a goal and an assist across the two matches against the Potters during the 2016/17 season.

Injuries have restricted Stanislas to just 10 starts this season, but he boasts an impressive goal involvement rate of 50% when in the side.

Matches against Huddersfield Town and Newcastle over the next three Gameweeks mean he also has the platform to maintain form beyond today’s clash.

Team-mate Callum Wilson has been attracting all the investment ahead of the Gameweek 26 deadline, while Stanislas resides in just 0.3% of FPL squads.

Priced at 5.9 in FPL, Stanislas can provide a worthy differential and perhaps a natural replacement for Shaqiri in our squads once Stoke’s fixture stiffen up.

I did this a few weeks ago and I think it was appreciated.

Let’s throw stats to the wayside - here is my intuition into this week’s captaincy.

Sanchez: Sanchez at MU is an unknown beast - a beast nevertheless. I have seen Huddersfield keep their defensive shape and focus against bigger teams, however I think the Red Devils will have a walk in the park this time around. A 2-0 loss to spurs? What would motivate Sanchez more than to give his own stamp of approval on his massive salary than a spectacular performance against a weak side? I can’t name anything; perhaps outside of a friendly display of affection from Fabregas after a hasty tackle 🙂 if you’ve got him, I’d argue that he needs to be your captain.

Aguero: he’s got a proven track record against Burnley and is showing no signs that it will end this weekend. Aguero has lost a half step - of that I am certain. However, he has his shooting boots and a plethora of chance creators to his left and right and is an intelligent enough footballer to where he could
find space in a phone booth. Tarkowski - who I feel has been the glue to Burnley’s defensive gusto - is out and there are several notable absences in the rest of the Burnley side. He will get his chances and find his own space in this game. If the ball finds his feet in the penalty area once or twice, I think it’ll end up in the back of the net.

Salah: Putting your trust in Salah this week is like putting trust in your best mate to get you home safe and sound from a wild night out. Check out his performances against top sides - uncanny. Spurs have figured out a defensive system that works, however I think that Salah’s pace and world class (yes, what I’m about to say is a big statement) positioning will trouble Spurs every single time Pool attacks. He’s on penalties and he’s got a left appendage that makes magic. In a week where plenty don’t sport Aguero and Sanchez in their team, it’s tough to find a better “default” option than Salah.

Kane: The mouth, the hurriKane, the 13m pound man we’ve gifted our faith in through good time and bad. I see Spurs struggling against Pool more than I see the opposite, however the sheer number of chances that Kane gets puts him millimeters below Salah this week and he’s already hauled against Pool. Is a big win hangover on the cards? Or another swift, creative performance from the Spurs? They looked like the fluid, clinical and deadly Spurs we grew to know and love last season against MU last gameweek.

Hazard: There are several points during the season where I ask myself “why do I even put myself through this?” And many of those moments come at the hand of a sparkling Hazard captaincy who plays like an in-form martial in FIFA 17 yet returns 2-3 points...his away form paired with Watford’s defensive fragility at home has all the makings of a Hazard haul. He is my captain this week and this is largely based on the fact that despite Conte’s comments, Giroud will get a start or at least a half on Monday. A Giroud-supported Hazard looks an incredible captaincy option this week.

    Differentials...

Wilson: In a word, form. In another word, Stoke. However, the new manager plays some Jose-esque defensive football and it’s tough to say BOU can handidly break them down. Personally, owning is more than enough.

    Mkhi/Ozil/Alonso/Jones/Firmino/Shaq/Vardy and a few others...just don’t go there.

In weeks where there is no standout captaincy in your team, I think it is prudent to Captain a player who has a proven track record and someone you can truly trust the armband with.

For many, my advice is to not look beyond Salah or Kane.

tl:dr.....I think you should read - I nailed this one 🙂

I can see the logic, but when people are quickly scanning for anything that backs their point up, a change in captaincy, a shred of team news, then a long chunk of writing doesn’t appear high on their priority list.

          Maybe Friday nights?

Appreciate it anyway, we seem to be masochistic but the Monday night and wqtford form do it for me. Expecting a pen at least

Just reading through the captaincy suggestions here I'm wondering if there's a lot of "book/team talking going on".. when did the narrative become that Burnley were a soft touch at home defensively? There's a reason so many people have Pope. Because Tarkowski's not there they are going to roll over and City score a hatful?

I don't think I've ever had a captain vs Burnley. They don't concede, especially at home.

And I’m sure that strategy has been largely successful - I have no doubt about that. However this is MC and an in-form Kun. Perhaps a whole different animal?

Why are you so sure Watford are "defensively fragile"? They were under the previous guy but that's why he was fired. Their style was to be very attacking. The record of the new coach is one of defensive stability. Surely vs Chelsea he isn't going to be setting out to attack...

In all of that, you are correct. Perhaps this is a “remains to be seen” component. However my
idea is that their attacking philosophy cannot be shaken in a week or even a month. These players have thought “attack, attack, attack” for many many months now and I believe will be inclined to do the same on Monday - especially with Bournemouth putting 3 past them last week at the forefront of their individual minds.

I think your arguments are very logical, however I highly doubt ALL those players will deliver points. I think some or most will. I think spurs are in for a good spanking just like city from liverpool. My heart says Salah, but my head says Aguero. I'll actually back a few other players to perform well i.e Mane and Firmino. I'm sure liverpool will score more than one goal but not sure how involved salah will be. That being said I'll just have to simply back Kun because he has an "easier" fixture and hope burnley don't do a bournemouth.

    This is interesting

Harry Kane has had a hand in six goals in six Premier League appearances against Liverpool (four goals, two assists), including three in the reverse fixture this season (two goals, one assist).

Mohamed Salah has scored 19 Premier League goals in 24 games this season - the quickest a player has got to 20 goals in the competition for Liverpool is 27 games (Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge).

Since the start of December, Roberto Firmino has been directly involved in 11 goals in 11 Premier League appearances (8 goals, 3 assists). Indeed, overall the Brazilian has scored 11 goals in 24 games this season, equalling his best scoring season in the competition (11 in 35 in 2016-17).

What are the arguments against captaining Kane over Salah? Apart from Liverpool's solid defensive record at Anfield?

Phil Jones was not at the Lowry with rest of united squad last night. He has joined up late in the past though. I swear if he misses out today after subbing in for me midweek.......
