In Part 1 of our preview of the 2018 season of Norwegian top flight game Fantasy Eliteserien we looked at the gameplay and some key players to consider. For this second part we look in detail at the prospects of the eight top teams from last season.

The Norwegian language version of the game can be found here here. This season the game’s creators have developed an English language version, which can be found here.

Rosenborg

This club has been the undisputed top club in Norway for decades and in particular recent years, winning the league in each of the last three seasons, and earning two domestic cups over that timeframe. Last season they also made it through to the group stages of the Europa League.

Pros: One expects points in all sections of the team here, with last year’s tightest defence, one of the better keepers of the season, and golden boot winner in the striker ranks. They play a 4-3-3, where the up-front wingers are all listed as midfielders in the game, adding prospects there as well.

Cons: This team’s success comes at a cost to Fantasy managers’ budgets. They dominate Norwegian football, as Manchester City are currently doing in England, but in contrast to the Sky Blues come with far  less rotation risk.

Even fringe first-team players may end up too expensive for value. Also, with so much choice it can be hard to nail down the best source of points among players.

Notable players: Niklas Bendtner (FWD, 13.0), Pål Andre Helland (MID, 12.0), Samuel Adegbenro (MID, 11.0), Vegard Hedenstad (DEF, 7.0), Birger Meling (DEF, 7.0), Tore Reginiussen (DEF, 6.5), Jacob Rasmussen (DEF, 6.0), Andre Hansen (GKP, 6.0)

Advice: You’ll likely want double, or even maybe triple, cover here, as they are quite solid in both ends. Niklas Bendtner up top or not will be a pivotal choice to how you enter the season, a defender and/or perhaps a starting winger if they are fit. Price is an issue though, so might be hard to accomplish any combinations there.

Molde

Rosenborg’s arch rivals and the team who have been closest to de-throning them at the top of Norwegian football. With Ole Gunnar Solskjær managing, the club went into a golden age taking five titles (three league, two cups) from 2011 to 2014. They’ve not yet rebuilt completely after Solskjær left for Cardiff and then later came back, but are considered a prime contender to challenge Rosenborg this season.

Pros: Molde are known for attacking football and a decent defence, so there are points to be found in their team in all areas.

Cons: They sold their top goalscorer last season, leaving a vacuum up top. There is also Solskjær’s penchant for strange early substitutions and rotation, making every team roster a potential source for heartbreak.

Notable players: Daniel Chukwu Chima (FWD, 9.0), Petter Strand (MID, 7.0), Kristoffer Haugen (DEF, 6.0), Ruben Gabrielsen (DEF, 5.5), Andreas Linde (GKP, 5.5)

Advice: Look to identify who gets the nod as the top striker in the squad, as this will be your main source of points. They are strong at the back, with the goalkeeper looking the better option as other team’s field defenders with more attacking history.

Sarpsborg 08

This team has been building slow and steady over several campaigns, coming third last season and making the cup final. But picking Fantasy prospects has proved hard due to players sharing the points. Krepin Diatta did emerge as a dominant force, but has been sold over the winter. Crafty number crunchers are likely to find gems in this team.

Pros: A sensible administration and coach team have built a team likely to be outside challenger in all competitions this season, and should provide some decent options in all positions.

Cons: Having sold their stand-out options, making the correct picks will be a difficult task until the season is underway. Introducing their first outing in European qualifiers will also likely see some unexpected rotations in the mid-summer part of the season.

Notable players: Patrick Mortensen (FWD, 8.5), Kristoffer Zachariassen (MID, 7.5), Ronnie Schwartz Nielsen (FWD, 6.5)

Advice: Keep a close eye on pre-season friendlies. Gleaning the prefered starting XI, as well as how new arrivals settle in, will be crucial to selections from the Sarpsborg squad. You’ll likely want someone from the team though, so the research will be worth it.

Strømsgodset

Godset have built a sturdy top-flight team solidly in the top half of the league. Last season they started somewhat unsteady, but they followed this up with an end run that saw them rocket up the league and in contention for medals to the very last, ending up with a solid fourth place.

Pros: Sporting traditionally attacking defenders, almost to wingback standards. Midfielders Jradi and Ulland Andersen also impressed last time out. There are a lot of nice options likely in the mid-high price range in this team. Add to that a superb signing in the striker Mustafa “Mos” Abdellaoue, and prospects across a range of positions look plentiful.

Cons: Godset have moved to strengthen this season which creates some uncertainties when it comes to possible rotation.

Notable players: Mos (FWD, 10.5), Eirik Ulland Andersen (MID, 9.5), Bassel Jradi (MID, 9.5), Jonathan Parr (DEF, 6.0), Lars Vilvik (DEF, 6.0), Jakob Glesnes (DEF, 5.5)

Advice: A double-up with one defender and one mid seems possible, and maybe even sensible, from Godset. Paying attention to who gets the starting XI nods pre-season will be key.

Brann

Brann have historical deep roots in the top flight, and have found their form as a club with second and fifth finishes over the last two campaigns. Their tough and pragmatic approach will see them on the upper half of the league this  season as well, so there should at the very least be some defensive points to be found in the team.

Pros: Their defensive prowess promises some clean sheets, and they have made a promising transfer move to sign ace winger Gilbert Koomson during the winter.

Cons: Where to find the points has become a question, with power goalie Leciejewski out the door, and somewhat erratic form for each of the attacking options. It’s easy to fall back on midfield powerhouse Fredrik Haugen, and maybe take a punt on Koomson being an instant hit in new environs.

Notable players: Fredrik Haugen (MID, 10.0), Gilbert Koomson (MID, 8.5), Vito Wormgoor (DEF, 5.5), Taijo Teniste (DEF, 5.5), Samuel Sahin-Radlinger (GKP, 5.5)

Advice: Gilbert Koomson has been an exciting budget prospect in minor club Sogndal the past two seasons, and with Brann now signing his paycheck he looks set to become one of the stars of the season. The right hand side with him and Teniste (both Sogndal players last season) have been working really well in pre-season. Wormgoor might be an excellent pick as he could be Brann’s penalty taker this season and also have a share of direct free-kicks.

Odds Ballklubb

In a twist of fate, the club that inspired the founding of Rosenborg a century ago is today the side that is seeking to emulate Rosenborg. As with the champions Odds Ballklubb also favour a 4-3-3 set up with emphasis on attacking football and hard work. This team usually has some options to look at.

Pros: With the traditional attacking mindset we are looking at a team ready to go for the next goal and push forward, a nice feature in a team when looking for Fantasy options. Wingback-style defenders, midfield slated wingers and a power forward are the hallmarks of such a team.

Cons: Despite the build-up they had a strange season, where their offensive play fell well short of expected standards and adding a big doubt as to what they will look like in the season to come. The generational shift happening in the squad is also a big factor adding to the uncertainty, despite a solid defensive turnout last season.

Notable players: Torgeir Børven (FWD, 8.0), Elba Rashani (MID, 7.5), Espen Ruud (DEF, 6.0), Viljar Myhra (GKP, 5.0)

Advice: The key figure is Espen Ruud, a defender on set pieces as well as a desire to bomb forward. He looks this side’s best Fantasy asset. He fell well short of expectations last season, but still hauled a triple digit number over the 30 Gameweeks.

Kristiansund BK

Usurping Aalesund as “the other team” in the region surrounding Molde, Kristiansund were the newly promoted upstarts of last season, and they went at it with gusto. Given their position in the league, goalie McDermott was primed for a couple of double digit hauls, making him a go-to budget option for a while despite clean sheets being few and far between. A mid-season purchase of Torgil Gjertsen provided some excitement as he went on to pick up point-hauls in seven of the 13 games he was eligible for – a score average surpassing all other players in the game.

Pros: A spirited team always ready to go for it in any game, although still small enough for their assets to come with a budget price tag.

Cons: Extremely unstable in performances with a lack of consistency making it hard to select their top picks.

Notable players: Benjamin Stokke (FWD, 7.0), Torgil Gjertsen (MID, 7.5), Sean McDermott (GKP, 4.5)

Advice: If Gjertsen can keep even parts of his form intact, he is an excellent fifth midfield option. Benjamin Stoke looks to be a  great mid-price striker. Keep an eye on this team for differentials.

Vålerenga

The big club of the capital, this side should by all rights be a major player in the Norwegian top flight.  They have ambitions to play like Barcelona, even if they don’t quite have the players to match this dream. Every year the question appears – will this be heaven or hell from Vålerenga?

Pros: Head coach Ronny Deila (formerly of Celtic) knows to build a squad with attacking potential, and has had a full winter to try to whip some shape into Vålerenga. It is likely he will unlock the potential of the club, with the only question being when will he hit the sweet spot.

Cons: The big names have left the club, and the young starlets have yet to blossom, leaving some big question marks as to team selection. Very much a squad that needs monitoring for Fantasy picks.

Notable players: Ben Johnson (FWD, 8.5), Chidera Ejuke (MID, 7.5), Simen Juklerød (MID, 6.5), Jonatan Tollås Nation (DEF, 5.5)

Advice: As mentioned, selection here comes with a health warning. That being said there is huge value-potential to be found here, so making an effort to monitor and select wisely may pay off nicely.

Start have signed Aron Sigurdarson from Tromsø. Very interesting pick at 6.0 and should be nailed on. Start have been poor in preseason though.

Nothing concrete, there is speculation of a powerstruggle and/or tight economy in the club. Wouldn't worry too much though, even with their two "big" exits they do on paper have a squad of decent strength compared to last season.

Is Valakari involved in the power struggles? I think he and the owner of the club he was before (SJK) had some kind of fights about buying players. The "contract was terminated in mutual understanding" but I have a vague hunch that Valakari wanted the owner to buy some players and when he didn't Valakari called it a day.

(Däng, do I really take part in this again. Thanks to you and Niemi.)

Ulrik Yttergård Jenssen and Thomas Lehne Olsen the only starters that have left the club. Mikael Ingebrigtsen was important as a super sub, but the rest didn't play much. Aron Sigurdarson barely got any minutes after Valakari (the new coach) arrived midseason.

They are probably buying a new attacking player now.

Rumours on Twitter suggest Fitim Azemi from Vålerenga. Not sure how good he is but he'd be another attacking body.

VG correct in suggesting Kitolano will start over Grøgaard for Odd? Potential bargain. He and Myhra could be cheap routes into a good defence.

Pricing the likes of Wormgoor at 5.5 and Hedenstand at 7.0 seems a bit odd

Pricing Wormgoor at 5.5 rather than 6.0 is strange when you consider how clearly he is their best defender. Bonus points matter a lot in this game, which seems to be ignored at times in the price setting.

Yes, was fully expecting him to be 6.0. He's nailed on in my squad at 5.5. Was going on about Teniste earlier as I expected him to be a cheaper option into the Brann backline, but at the same price as Wormgoor it's a no-go for me.

Nice summary. Finding it difficult to afford doubling on Rosenborg inc Bendtner, let alone tripling.
Fixtures don't particularly suit a def yet. Adegbenro/Helland appeal but £. Leaves someone like Konradsen, but frankly I'd rather double up on SIF mids. Left really undecided on Bendtner.

To Bendtner or not Bendtner.... that is the question, 42.1% selection now, thats about four and a half thousand teams so far....

As for doubling or tripling, yeah that is a feat few can manage, regardless of how you'll end up with budget choices, so likely Rasmussen and/or Kondradsen are your only ways into a tripple at least, double might work with strong goalscorers IF you sacrifice a lot in other parts of the team...
Hard not to focus on getting a couple of Strømsgodset players with the opening 5 GW's the way they are though...

          1. MTPockets
              8 years, 6 days ago

Indeed. EUA already has 3G in preseason, Jradi 1. Plus fixtures as you say.

Finding the main pro-Bendtner argument is what other big hitter? Mos vs Pedersen, Ohi's pre season not amazing, Stokke's fixtures not brilliant, don't know anything about Chima, Schwartz over Mortensen. Maybe Johnson but then all 3 fwd picks would basically be a punt.

Rasmussen - don't recall him at all, will take a look cheers.

Very thankful for your fixture ticker, MTPockets 🙂 agree that fixtures for the defense are a bit iffy, but I do feel at least one big RBK attacker is prudent.

Think Helland is the one to have from Rosenborg, having checked out his pre-season form. Explosive, consistent when he plays, if he's injured it's an easy downgrade to the likes of Adegbenro, Haugen, Andersen etc.

Plus he doesn't really have anyone who'll eat into his minutes like Bendtner/Søderlund or even Mos/Pedersen. I think it makes sense to go without the most expensive strikers up front with so many good midfielders and strikers between 6.5-9.5m.

I'll definitely get a defender or GK, not sure which. Depends on the best combination with a Molde defender I think. I favour Linde over Hansen because the latter could be rested every now and then.

Yep 4G/4A but fragile. Bendtner's ownership means I'll probably crumble tbh; even simpler to downgrade him. Is Rosenborg's 4-4-3 set in stone, or any chance both Bendtner + Søderlund could start? (the latter's pre season also good)

It was always 4-3-3 last season and according to the spreadsheet on the last article it's been 4-3-3 in pre-season as well.

Last time Bendtner started anywhere but striker was probably 2009-10 when he got a few games as a winger. De Lanlay a clear third choice behind Helland and Adegbenro but pretty sure he'd start on the wings before either of the strikers 😀

Not sure how they are going to use Søderlund, but can't see Bendtner being benched unless he's playing really really bad.

I'm gonna give you my current squad. My final squad will most likely look nothing like this

Linde (Molde) - Karlstrøm (Tromsø, non-starter)
Meling (Rosenborg) - Wormgoor (Brann) - Nilsen (Tromsø) - Kitolano (Odd) - Grorud (Sandefjord)
Helland (Rosenborg) - Ulland Andersen (Strømsgodset) - Kassi (Stabæk) - Sigurdarson (Start) - Vetlesen (Stabæk)
Bendtner (Rosenborg) - Skålevik (Brann) - Schwartz (Sarpsborg)

                    1) Monitoring Stølås at Haugesund. If they sign the new CB that's been on trial Stølås is likely to be moved up to left midfield permanently. Might upgrade Nilsen (who could be OOP as well) to Stølås then, if I find another 0.5
                    2) Grorud might not be a starter. There were quite a few times last year where it was valuable to have 15 starters, so going into the season with a non-starter might not be a good idea.
                    3) Sigurdarson is probably the least nailed on player in my midfield. Hussain at Molde is tempting if he nails down the attacking CM spot, Gamst Pedersen is also tempting with his set-piece threat.
                    4) Schwartz have been looking good up front, but Sarpsborg have three (all Danish) strikers competing for two spots. Agger (one of them) scored two goals yesterday and you would expect Mortensen to be nailed on. Might have to go for another 6.5 option or upgrade to Stokke at 7.0.
                    5) The Skålevik pick is obviously depending on Brann not signing another striker, but I have a feeling they will do so.

Also considering going for Maric (4.5, Lillestrøm) over Linde (5.5, Molde) to save some money. At the moment I'm leaning towards Linde though.

Helland is a no brainer while fit. Ulland A was great last year, wasn't he.

How do you like the pricing this year? It seems more realistic than last year, but an Ohi or a Diatta may pop up.

Pricing do seem better, but there were quite a few expensive players at the start of last season as well. Zahid was 10.5 I think, but he didn't start the season well. Moa was also expensive, but flopped big time. Marcus Pedersen was a let down. Players like Adegbenro, with his stats at the time and at Viking, was never going to be priced any higher than 7.0 (or 7.5, I don't remember). Helland was also a let down with all his injuries. I think Ulland Andersen started out at 8.0 or 8.5, but he was injured at the start and dropped a lot.

There are fewer alternatives at 4.0 (there were loads of 4.0 playing defenders last year for example, and many good 4.5 defenders). There's still quite a few decent players at 5.0-6.0 though, and nailed players like Vetlesen at 4.5 (he should really have been 5.0).

Good points. I guess the league is erratic enough for it to be hard to get the pricing right.
I like the 9,5 combo on Jradi and Ulland Andersen, I think they drew inspiration from Alli/Eriksen there. Seems like a good price point for them if they can keep it up.

Yes, it's a very fair price. I think both are good picks, but I'm going for Ulland Andersen (he's in my gravatar after all). Will be interesting to see how Mos affects them and if Mos is a better pick (or if a double-up is a must?). Think I'm monitoring Mos for now, could easily find the bench if he doesn't hit the ground running with Pedersen lurking around.

Myhra is also a good option, but I don't think I want to double up on Odd. They might not be 100% nailed on as well, so I think I'll stick with Linde.

Oh, and Molde have shifted to four at the back instead of three, so they only play with two CBs. Not sure who starts out of Forren, Gabrielsen and Sarr. Sarr should be the most nailed on CB in my opinion. Maybe there's someone else here with more knowledge about Molde than me?

Brynhildsen is an interesting player, but I don't think he's nailed on at the moment. Not 100% sure though.

Odd - yep just being hopeful at the moment.
Didn't realise that about Molde - will have to look into it.
Brynhildsen - honestly just based on his pre season 4G/2A.

Heard good things about Brynhildsen, but Brochmann is just coming back from an injury. I think Kassi and Brochmann is nailed on, which leaves one attacking spot open. I think Boli could be first choice, but I'm not sure. Sæter could play as well.

Good team. I am a little scared of Bendtner but feel confident enough to go without him to have (imo) better mid-price options.

                          My team currently (2m itb):

                          Linde

Decent team that. Personally think double Brann attack is too much at the start, but it could pay off. Don't like the Brustad pick, not sure if he's nailed on.

I like Brustad's opening match and he seems more likely to play than their other forwards but don't know enough about Chima. Amang looked lively in the few games he played last season, would consider him if he got a run in the team.

If it doesn't work out I'll switch to Ohi, Stokke or Fardal Opseth.

Everyone (here & elsewhere) going for Linde. Is that just due to opening fixtures? Otherwise don't recall Molde being particularly great for clean sheets, or Linde for bonus?

Fixtures are good, Molde pretty good defence, cheaper than Hansen and unlike Hansen doesn't have a good backup so won't be rested.

Linde surprisingly had the most saves last season by a distance (of the keepers in this year's game, think Lie might've had a lot too but got relegated so can't check).

Linde was the top scoring goalkeeper after all (or did Lie score more?). Cheap and nailed way into Molde's backline. As said had loads of saves last year.

I'm still considering Maric (cheap option) or Hansen (and downgrade Meling to Haugen or someone else).

Cheers for def tips. I'm considering Finnbogason if Skålevik/Schwartz aren't viable. 3G in pre season (inc against fkh & san). But although IKS have good starting fixtures, would likely mean a change to Kabran otherwise overkill. Sigurdarson was quite a let down last season, so will wait on that.

Sigurdarson was actually a decent pick for a while, but then struggled with some injuries and lost his place. He's now been transferred to Start and should be nailed on. Sigurdarson right wing, Kabran left wing. At 0.5 cheaper than Kabran he's a better pick for me, but definitely not nailed on in my squad.

Finnbogason is interesting, but I'm not sold yet. Start were looking at another striker, but not sure if they're in the market now after they signed Sigurdarson.

Let's not forget rejected a bid from Twente in Eredivise in the summer, which is a big step up from Eliteserien. That was before Valakari came and changed formation, where he didn't fit in. Sigurdarson is a greedy player, which is good for fantasy (in most cases).

Guess I'll share my current line-up, thoughts and worries as well then:

Linde (Molde) - Karlstrøm (Tromsø, non-starter)
Rasmussen (Rosenborg) - Haugen (Molde) - Parr (Strømsgodset) - Kack (Start) - Tkalcic (Sarpsborg 08)
                                      A. Ågnes Konradsen (Rosenborg) - Ulland Andersen (Strømsgodset) - Hussain (Molde) - Koomson (Brann) - Gamst Pedersen (Tromsø)
Bendtner (Rosenborg) - Skålevik (Brann) - Schwartz (Sarpsborg)

                                      1) Konradsen and Rasmussen are in as I believe in Rosenborg as a solid choice through this season, and they provide me with an affordable entry into the teams defence, as well as what I think is a miss-pricing of Konradsen (He was DM last season, but is moved back up as a box-to-box runner this season)
                                      2) most changes I've made so far have revolved around the Hussain spot/price, I am very unsure what choice to make in this bracket, and Hussain is just the latest of 7-8 players I'm considering there. I'll probably move away from him as I'm not ready for a Molde tripple.
                                      3) I view Strømsgodset double as almost essential as they are the team most markedly improved over the winter break, with 0 significant sales and a few very impressive signings. Pair that with their opening schedule and I expect them to come shooting out of the gate.
                                      4) Sarpsborg double is a bit of a punt, I feel they look mighty strong despite some core changes in the squad, and both Schwartz and Tkalcic are newcomers to the league where I think we have some value-pricing.
                                      5) Not thrilled about a Brann-double either, but Koomson is a hot topic, and Skålevik is to date the most nailed on value of many nice 6.5 choices. We'll see how that pans out.

If price wasn't an issue I'd be drooling to get Zachariassen in midfield in stead, and very much eyeing up Benjamin Stokke as a striker. and keeping a close eye on the Flamur Kastrati situation, if he remains nailed he might soon be back in my squad.

I see your concerns. Not sure if I'm getting a Strømsgodset defender myself, as Wormgoor, Molde (Linde or Haugen) and Rosenborg (Hansen or a defender) takes up much of my defensive budget. Might squeeze in Glesnes over Nilsen, but another premium defender feels unnecessary if Kitolano is nailed on.

Hussain is interesting. I'm currently on Sigurdarson as you see, but I could end up with Hussain instead.

Personally I have transferred Schwartz out for Amang tonight. Agger scoring two goals yesterday made me rethink. If I'm going to punt on a not-nailed-on striker I'd rather have Amang.

True, I do have the luxury of holding though, as I field a 3-5-2 and Sarpsborg start off vs. Rosenborg so he's an easy bench anyway. There is an alternative to downgrade him to Karlsen and pick up Stokke for Skålevik (or a midfield upgrade). Strømsgodset defender became a needs-must, I am wholly convinced a double is required, and with price and rotation risk scaring me off some of the big dogs the side defenders seemed a logical choice.

Fair points. Last season it was the Strømsgodset attackers who were a must, not the defenders. They did do well for the last few fixtures though, so you might be right.

Don't think Konradsen's a bad choice (too difficult to get 3 big hitters from RBK and they're so dominant he'll get a few goals) but could be worth saving the RBK spot with players like Åsen, Gjertsen, Zachariassen, Nguen for the same price or 0.5m more.

Yeah, enticing options to be sure, I mentioned I'm drooling for Zachariassen in particular, especially once the Rosenborg game in GW1 is over with.
As it stands I'm kinda happy with my price-spread too, although I'm in a bit of trouble if one of the upper-mid strikers goes rampant.

Any Molde experts here? Amang has caught my eye with his performances in preseason. Big talent who was expected to break through last season, but didn't. At 6.5 he might be a great pick up front for Molde. He scored a hattrick yesterday against Dinamo Brest and have been good in the other preseason games as well, receiving lot of praise from Solskjær.

I think he should start the first game at least, but the downside is he might find the bench very soon if he doesn't perform.

You gave a quite accurate description, there. Amang has great value potential, a strong budget option. Think he will start.

After some thinking I've done Schwartz>Amang. Schwartz isn't nailed on either, but I think Amang has a higher ceiling so might as well take a punt on him. Will monitor in the last preseason fixture.

Finding teams that rotate well in ES is slightly easier than PL. Every team play every second match at home and away. The exceptions to this rule are the two times in the season that every team will play home/away fixtures in a row. This happens for every team once with 2 home fixtures and once with 2 away fixtures. This leads to relatively few teams rotating perfectly together, but many teams that rotates well for most of the season.

Four teams in the league will swap home and away games with the same team, leading to perfect home/away rotation with that team. Bodø/Glimt (GW18-19) and Tromsø (GW6-7) rotate perfectly for that reason, while Ranheim (GW26-27) and Rosenborg (GW20-21) are the other two teams that rotate perfectly. The parenthesis contain the weeks that each team has 2 home games in a row.

Sandefjord (GW4-5), Kristiansund (GW10-11) and Godset (GW16-17) do these swaps as a trio. Whenever a team has two home games in a row, it is the team on their right that will play 2 away games in a row. Sandefjord will play away when Godset play 2 games at home in GW16 and 17. Sandefjord and KBK rotate perfectly from the start until KBK swap home/away fixtures with Godset in GW11.

The rest of the teams have this big circle of swapping home and away games. The principle is the same. Whenever a team has 2 home fixtures in a row, the team below them will have 2 away games. Odd will play 2 away games in a row when Vålerenga play 2 home games in a row. If you check out the teams on the list, you will often find that the team right above and below each other will rotate well for a long period of the season. Odd and Stabæk will for instance rotate perfectly until GW20.

                                    Odd (GW3-4)
                                    Stabæk (GW25-26)
                                    Sarpsborg (GW7-8)
                                    Haugesund (GW11-12)
                                    Brann (GW27-28)
                                    Molde (GW9-10)
                                    Lillestrøm (GW23-24)
                                    Start (GW13-14)
                                    Vålerenga (GW19-20)

Cheers for this. I'm not that much into rotating players in FPL based on fixtures, but might do it for my 4th/5th defender. Maybe a 4.5 Stabæk defender to cover Kitolano's tough away fixtures.

Hansen averaged 4.52 points per game last season, Hedenstad 4.62. Meling averaged 3.5, but missed out on 10 games and was sent off once so I expect him to be closer (or better than Hedenstad this year).

Is it really worth paying 7.0 for either of the full backs when Hansen cost 6.0? Could go with one of Molde's full backs instead.

                                      Linde + Meling/Hedenstad = 12.5
                                      Hansen + Haugen = 12.0
                                      Hansen + Remmer = 11.5

Reginiussen at 6.5 averaged 4.16 and Rasmussen at 6.0 should be nailed on this season. Less attacking potential, but decent bonus potential (especially Reginiussen).

Hedenstad appealed for corners and free kicks but first 4 games are s08, KBK, odd, MOL. Not sure how appealing that is for clean sheet points.

Rosenborg should be a level above everyone else, so I don't care too much about their fixtures.

And as long as Helland is fit I expect him to take the majority of set-pieces, but sure Hedenstad will get some of them.

Generally I do care for defence, but Rosenborg is the exception.

Interesting stat though, but I'm still convinced I want a Rosenborg defender from the start.

I think Meling is worth the premium this season. He's been one of the best players in the team since the end of last season, and he's already got 1 goal and 4 assists in the pre-season games.

My issue with Molde defenders is that they are so stacked with options. Solskjær loves the combination of rotation and playing players out of position. I could see Gabrielsen and Gregersen playing games as a full back, or Telo getting some game time on the left. Linde is in that sense a relatively safer choice for Molde.

I'm severely taxing my clearvoyance here, but I'm feeling like GW14 could well be the target for Parking the bus chip for me, feel the potential DGW's deserve a more forward-minded approach, and there is just something about the fixturelist on GW14 that smacks of perfect storm to me.... thoughts?

Maybe gw 10 (easier fixtures for BRA, KBK, RBK, til, ODD, S08). Or gw8 (sif, BRA, RBK, ODD, LSK, VIF)?

Bendtner linked with a move to China tonight. Not sure if it would be a wise move for him ahead of the World Cup, but surely massive money involved for him.

The Chinese transfer window close on Wednesday, so we'll find out soon if he stays.

Kjeldsrud Johansen on his way to Brann from Vålerenga, probably ends Skålevik as a nailed option. Will be a similar situation like last year, with lot of rotation.

That made some choices easier, swapped out Hussain for Kaasa (punt value-pick) and upgraded Skålevik to Stokke, now have 1.0 ITB to pounce on hypetrains as well... things are resolving

He is in and out of discussions, there are a LOT of options in those priceranges, so his bump to 7.5 is a bit offputting now that prices are tighter. Still a lovely option mind you, just getting sacrificed a lot for money...

A bit expensive for my liking, but definitely worth it if he can keep us last season's form.

Top choice in my opinion is Morten Gamst-Pedersen (Tromsø), top assists man last season, nailed on central mid.

                                                  Other posibilities include:
Fredrik Krogstad (Lillestrøm) - A main man on set-pieces, underperformed last season
Stefan Mladenovic (Odd) - Likely nailed on winger for Odd, another team that underperformed last season

Cheers Mrklin. I like the look of Odds fixtures, lots on their home turf for the first few and a wingers always more exciting than a CM IMO so Mladenovic makes the team 😎

Finding space for BOTH Helland and Bendtner, as well as Ulland-Andersen..... I am almost impressed.

Your midfield looks untouchable, love the entire pick there for its compostition and power.

Non-starters Lorentzen and Grorud might come back to haunt you though, hard to navigate away from them any time soon, although you almost have to do this with the power-line you've picked out....

Keep a close eye on Amang, would really really suck if he turns out not to start since you have little in the way of bench cover

Agree with this. With players like Kitolano, Mladenovic and Amang who could be rotated, two non-starters in your squad is risky business.

Well, I said Grorud non-starter, but then he might be a starter... the point being there are a lot of punts gathered in the basket there...

                                                      I see what your saying.

It’s one of those squads that could go either way. If I go in with it they could kick off and the punts work well, but the pints could flop and it could backfire. Just depends whether I think the squad is worth the risk or not I guess.....

                                                    Thanks.

Yea unfortunately the power line has made my bench risky. But Moe is a starter and rotated nicely with Kitolano, Grorud has a decent chance of starting (I hope), but Lorentzen is by no means a definite starter.

You think Lorentzen will get minutes?

Midfield excellent but I'd try to find more value. You should have a RBK defender.

                                                    Thanks.

I agree on the RBK defender, the view is to do Parr to Rasmussen once RBK fixtures get better which is around the time the SIF fixtures get worse.

Just fancied a punt on a SIF def for he first few weeks, think he could easily outscore an RBK defender for those first few weeks. Do you not agree?
