The Technical Area – Kane vs Salah

As we enter the final ten Gameweeks of the season, finding ways to differentiate our sides from those our rivals around us becomes more and more difficult to achieve.

With a combined eight midfielders and forwards boasting an ownership of over 20% within the top 10,000 managers, and the Gameweek 31 blank promoting assets with guaranteed fixtures that weekend, many of us now appear to have converged upon a similar squad structure.

In such a circumstance, the decision of captaincy allocation – that ever-crucial decision to a manager’s Gameweek – becomes magnified in its importance.

Last week saw an incredible 91% of top-10k managers place the armband onto either Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah or Spurs’ Harry Kane. Salah held a convincing lead over his rival in terms of backers (73.7% vs 17.6%) and though both players provided goals, it was the Egyptian who ultimately emerged victorious with a haul of 10 points to Kane’s six.

Looking forward, however, who do the numbers support as our prime captaincy option over the final few Gameweeks of the season?

I'd say 40% chance of a game multiplied by 20% chance of a few minutes = 8% maybe?

nice maths 😀 , I would not risk him at all if I was managing a team with the depth that is available. The reason I ask is that I have Willian coming off the bench and my private league rival has 0pts on the bench. So fingers crossed because i'm 42 pts behind

He might make the bench and a lot will depend on the score with 70 minutes to go. If City are 3-0 up he will stay on the bench

Worse advert for VAR to date, it's taking away all thinking/accountability from the officials.

VAR can take a page out of crickets book. Give each captain one appeal per half, if it's succesful you don't lose it and you have 15 seconds to make a decision and the game can still run as per normal.

It will actually give the captain a purpose in the game. Imagine in its current structure how the world cup final will be. The officials will be too scared to make a decision for themselves. Would be nice to listen it too what's actually being discussed as well as show it on the big screen.

If you were WC'ing in 32, would you consider bringing in Arnautovic or maybe even Ramsey?

Im not WC'ing, as I have already used thein chip, but If I bring in Arnautovic or Ramsey, I will most likely have the one I pick in dgw34, as I have other transfers to focus on all the way to dgw34..

    What are your captain stats?

    Kane (10 times - 97 points - average 9.7 points)
    Agüero (9 times - 154 points - average 17.1 points)
    Salah (4 times - 70 points - average 17.5 points)
    Lukaku (2 times - 24 points - average 12 points)
    Morata (1 times - 2 points - average 2 points)
