Following an exceptionally high scoring second round there are now no former winners left in our open-to-all Fantasy Premier League Cup competition.

All four ex-champions to survive the first round departed at the second stage, which took place during Gameweek 31’s limited set of fixtures.

Reigning champion TH14 was seen off 85-82 by Ilovebaps , A Manager Has No Name was beaten 107-100 by horlicks esq, MCH succumbed to The dinkum donuts 82-78 and Wild Rover failed to overcome Gloria Kanchelskis in their 86-81 clash.

Despite just four matches taking place in Gameweek 31, there were 41 managers who returned a minimum of 100 points.

The second round’s highest scoring was dmcqt. He notched 128 points, rockets from 28,412nd to 7,475th in the overall rankings and earns a round three encounter with 232,058-placed The Brown Casanova.

Despite dipping ten places overall to 48th, thisisdiz remains the highest ranked manager. Norman conquest (rank 69,117) is the unfortunate manager to draw this high-flyer in the third round.

Another notable round three match up is 7,845-ranked hwhite94’s tie with the competition’s second-highest placed manager, Always Captain Kun, who is in 63rd spot.

Elsewhere, 43,939-ranked 2 Girls 1 Shlup’s giant killing skills will be put to test once again, when he meets 1,561st ranked Dharmabum. He made it through to the third round by defeating FFScout’s 3,941-placed tech guru matzi11a in the second round and after seeing off former champion Gooner Dave in round one.

The full second round results can be found here, while the third round draw can be found here.

Why am I seeing lots of teams with fabianski as 2nd gk while he has just the 1 dgw. Ryan has 2 dgws and is 0.2m cheaper ?

    Tnks.

Shhhhh - people might hear you and explain why having a Swansea player with a DGW is better than a defender at a better team (with a good fixture) playing once

you'll have only one bench boost 🙂
so in the second one the one goal keeper will play and i think will be de gea

Don't think Bailly goes up for corners, VVD big attacking threat.

Everyone talks about VVD's goal threat, and I agree he does look a beast on set plays...but how many goals has he actually scored?
VVD scoring record since 2015 season: 4 goals, 0 assists.

Good shout. I also remember Benteke scoring a fair whack in the run in keeping Villa up for Tim Sherwood and then moving to Liverpool. There's a non-template diamond in there somewhere... until he scores a hat trick and we all rush in on him!

depends on the state of your team really - if you can field a solid XI this week, then it could be wise waiting to gather more knowledge. bring in any 'essential' player(s) with your FT.

For me it comes down to two factors.

The first and most important of those is more information. Injuries could happen in GW32 or the midweek European games, Wenger's teamsheet against Stoke could give us a better idea of how much/who he will rotate around Europa League games, some random player could explode and emerge as a good option, etc.

The second one is that my team already looks good enough for GW32. I don't own any Everton, Palace, Watford or West Brom players, I can easily bench my Stoke and Huddersfield players, and I'm happy to play Stanislas and King against Watford, as well as triple Liverpool at Palace. I know that I'll want Chelsea and Spurs assets in my WC team but do I need them for GW32 when they're playing against each other? Don't think so.

Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world based on its fan base so this seems like a stupid comment from Can.

And since Bardsley has come back, he has been on the bench. Three games and counting...

There is a chance that anyone in the PL (except Lukaku) gets rested/rotated. But Lowton is clear first choice RB at Burnley

When you have to consult with everyone from TV companies, to Local councils and Police forces and everyone in between, and not forgetting the clubs themselves, any European commitments they have, and ensuring teams have fair and similar breaks between games I suspect its not that easy at all...:-)

Think BGWs and DGWs make for much bigger moves. I've been hovering around the 30-40k mark for the last eight weeks, with good and bad weeks. But this week (with a solid but unspectacular 91) I'm inside the top 30k for the first time. There will be a large number of those in the top 50k because they have already used chips

    3. CloudSky
      • 9 Years
      7 years, 11 months ago

Ive been up and down the top 20k since gw12 or something like that. Some good weeks, some bad weeks, some weird choices and it all sums up. ML leader been bossing it though, been in top 60 for 10 weeks straight. Whats interesting is, there isnt that much of a difference between our teams, he just nails down those 50/50 decisions when I usually miss. Getting in KDB at the right time, selling for Mahrez etc.

    4. Yellin' in my Ear
      • 10 Years

I got to around 6k a few weeks ago and have steadily dropped back due to poor picks ahead of 31, now around 25kbut with all chips remaining. At present it definitely looks like the biggest benefit of a FH in 31 was the lack of damage in the run up to it

    5. Legomane
      • 9 Years
      7 years, 11 months ago

True, though I moved from 8.5k > just outside 1k from this stage last season - blanks, doubles chips and wildcards shake it up.

I spent most of my FT's in the first half of this season transferring out injured or suspended players.
Rank has stagnated in the weeks since with only a small rise from 400k > 120k - hopeful to push on during the final weeks to something bearly respectable.

Im kind of liking this one. A take on the top heavy template if you will, with double Utd defence.

    De Gea
    Bailly Christensen Lowton
    Salah Mahrez Son Willian
    Lukaku Auba Vardy

    Fab Fernandez Morgan King

The obvious weakness being King as 5th, no Alonso and no City.

Now we have a bit of time to reflect, who's been your favourite fantasy players so far? (differentials who have separated you from rivals?)

Shaqiri and Son are probably mine

Otamendi has probably been my favourite player to own this season. Scored in back to back games as soon as I got him in and then when most people sold him and I held onto him and he's delivered 3 cleansheets in a row.

Hegazi GW1 when nobody knew him.
Alonso GW2 when nobody had him due to high price.
For some reason I was the first in my ML to catch onto Sterling, so he became kind of a differential for me for a while. Other folks went for Silva or Kun or Jesus.
Same with Pope - my rivals never got him or got him too late.
Coutinho during the festive period went wild.
Hazard for the last five game weeks after everyone ditched him.

I think that's about it...not too many heroes for me this season 🙁

I got Sterling at 7.8 - that was the good news. I sold two weeks ago .... that went well.
Mili has been fantastic - got all his penalty goals.
Got Firm just as he went on his spree. 🙂

At the other end of the spectrum is Otamendi - the one that got away.

    Question regarding members tables

Because of the bgw it skews the “last x gameweeks” stats. Is the last x games option the best to use?

      a) But only cause I kept faith with Christensen and he hurt me badly.

Actually, come to think of it so has Alonso. I'm still going with Alonso though, just cause he has to get some attacking returns soon.

Some prefer Ayew but I suppose Swans defense is better than their attack. Too many Swans players in the team is never a good idea. So yes... Barnes looks like best bet

Over time you learn it’s risky to pick players coming back from an absence. They usually start again from the bench. Barnes is in a rich vein of form.
