After starting our series of members’ articles on Wildcard targets with a look at Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, our sights turn to another in-demand frontman.

With Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero currently nursing injuries, Romelu Lukaku’s recent resurgence has not gone unnoticed by Fantasy Premier League managers.

Three goals and a pair of assists in the last five Gameweeks, allied with a trio of strikes over four cup outings in the same timeframe, means that the Man United striker is the second most bought player in FPL ahead of Gameweek 32.

Following a barren autumn period, Lukaku seems to have stepped up his output following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez.

With two double Gameweeks anticipated for the Red Devils, can the Belgian claim a place in our frontlines for the run-in?

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

My WC is active now because I wanted to catch the price rises and take advantage of GW32 fixtures. Other people will be holding off till GW33 because there will be more team info available then ahead of doubles

WC now: more time, prices rises/drops, can potentially save FT in 33 if you plan right
WC 33: More valuable info about schedules, etc.

    A) Get Barnes as 3rd forward, if you think he's nailed, and use a transfer to ditch him for JAyew just before the double in 34?
    B) Get JAyew now, who's suspended till gw33 and can't help me from the bench if needed, but save a transfer by already having him in for dgw34?

    1. Two of their next three being difficult

Benching headache.. you will only be able to use all your front 8 once (BB). Rest of the time you will need to bench the millions tied up in the 8th attcking player

There isnt a half a million difference between Mee and Lowton. Gundo is a bit meh. Cant really play him over anyone in front 7 other than in BB and even then I wouldnt be comfortable of expecting he plays both. Otherwise fairly standard. Like the Arnie pick.

        • 8 Years

Mawson to Naughton and Mee to Lowton would give you enough for Arnie and Gundog to Sterling/Sane with Mcarthur with .3 left I think.

does Sane or Sterling outscore Arnie ?
Mcarthur no doubles but cheap and nailed, gundog has a double but not done a lot.

I'm looking at captaining Lukaku in GW34. Would never captain Rashford.

No I agree with that. But my plan is to have money to bring in Kane for Aubuamang that game week and captain him, funded with money from Rashford. If Kane not fit, I will turn to Lukaku and captain him. I would also bench Rashford for GW 33. So only need him to start GW32. A gamble of course but maybe one worth taking?

I'd be devastated from an fpl point of view

Meh - he'll be dead to us if he's reclassified as a midfielder next season anyway 😉

Let him go, all he can do is free kicks... Overrated player... He scores goals because of his very advanced position, I think, in many teams a left winger is not allowed to play as a striker... Compare his goals to mids/strikers, only 6 goals this season, very average!

"He scores goals because of his very advanced position"

Aye mate, same goes for Kane and Salah but you don't see anyone criticising them

You missed the point, Kane and Salah has scored a bit more than 6 goals, aye? The point is that compare his relative positions and the amount of goals he scores, from FPL pov he’s just a defender and it’s great that he’s so often playing as a striker, but in real football terms it’s a different matter... I’m just saying he’s not that good, but the fact that he’s top of defenders’ points in FPL might bias it a bit for some people. If Valencia would be allowed to play such an advanced position (Mou would of course never allow it) he’d score a lot more than 6 goals is what I’m saying! Or a bunch of other defenders!

But, of course, the main role of a defender in football is not to score goals.

I agree that his returns aren't what you would hope for from the positions he gets into. But at the end of the day, he averages 5 points per 90 minutes, offers a greater chance of attacking returns than any other defender and has outscored all bar 12 players in FPL this season. For the price of £7.2m (other options at this price include Willian, Rooney, Walcott and Antonio!).

Yes, I would like him to return more. However he is 100% nailed in my WC team

Yes, he’s in my WC team too, I wasn’t talking about FPL perspective, as I pointed out above! Because he’s classified as a defender (wrongly imo but still) he’s a must have because he gets the clean sheet points and scores goals, although he should score even more, but still...

      Shouldn't be.

He played the wing back position last season as well and wasn't reclassified.
