Monitor – Riyad Mahrez

Earlier in the week, our recent series of Monitor members’ articles on Wildcard ran the rule over both Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Romelu Lukaku, the two most bought forwards ahead of Gameweek 32.

Next up in our assessment is Riyad Mahrez, the second most bought midfielder ahead of Leicester City’s expected pair of Double Gameweeks.

Despite finding himself out of favour in the early months – due to a lofty 8.5 opening price tag and disappointing previous season – the Algerian has turned back the clock to rediscover the heights of his dominant 2015/16 campaign.

Now sitting fourth among midfielders in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) with 161 points, Mahrez has proven himself to once again represent a consistent top-end choice. Meanwhile, double-digit hauls in successive Gameweeks underpin the Algerian’s explosive potential as a differential captaincy option for managers willing to swim against the tide.

With an incredibly obliging run to end the season – including two Double Gameweeks and a slew of favourable matchups (Leicester’s next six fixtures will match them against Brighton, Newcastle, Burnley, Southampton, Crystal Palace and West Ham) – the winger will be a staple among Wildcard squads.

Wow, looks very good. I almost have the same but I have Lukaku not Vardy. And I have King not Gross.

      0 in the bank.

But I have thinking about for days now. Which alternative is the best.
      A) Lukaku, King
      Or
      B) Vardy, Gross

If I get news in the next Chelsea presser that Christensen is fit I’ll be going with him for the rest of the season, unbelievable value and allows Kane back easily for GW37

Thoughts on Rob Holding? 4.4m ARS defender may keep a place as Wenger keeps his squad fresh for Europe.
