Monitor – Pascal Gross

We continue our series of Monitor members’ articles on Gameweek 34 targets by assessing Brighton and Hove Albion schemer, Pascal Gross.

Although Mohamed Salah has redefined the term “successful debut season”, the German’s rookie campaign deserves its share of recognition.

Following a summer arrival from FC Ingolstadt, Gross has proven himself a standout candidate among budget midfield options. The playmaker has quickly earned a reputation as a premium creative force at the Premier League level, racking up some of the most impressive creativity metrics of any player.

Moreover, with two Double Gameweeks – one confirmed for Gameweek 34, and the latter expected to fall in or around Gameweek 37 – still to come this season, Gross is set to remain at the forefront of plans, with or without the Wildcard at our disposal.

We all keep setting up with our 2 FTs in mind, usually a cheap mid out - but there's every chance that Son and Auba to Kane and Gross might be that move for the DGWs

This is my likely move. Kane looks increasingly likely to be fit for DGWs, if not Stoke. I'm probably going to ignore Lukaku entirely.

I prefer Lukaku. Mainly because not sure I want 3 Leicester players. I think Mahrez and the value you can get in defence is my preference

Lukaku, but it's complicated by many other factors.

Probably Vardy for value and the fact I probably wouldn't captain either of them.

How does this WC look? No FH or TC. plan to bench boost in GW34 as don’t trust the lineups in 37.

    DDG Hennessy
    Bailly Mustafi Tark Lowton Morgan
    Salah Mahrez Son Willian Gudmunsson
    Auba Vardy Firmino

    Gives me 11 DGW + 2 Liv + 1 ARS for GW34 Bench boost.

I can then get 10 out with 2 FT for GW 35.

    Suggestions please

    DDG, Fab
    Alonso, Mustafi, Smalling, Lowton, Chilwell
    Salah, Mahrez, Willian, Son, Gudmonsen
    Auba, Firmino, Barnes

  10. Karan14

    Settled on this for GW32:

    DDG
    Smalling - Tarko - Lowton
    Salah - Mahrez - Son - Willian
    Auba - Vardy - Murray

    (Ryan / Gudmu / Verto / Morgan)

2.4m itb for Auba to Kane if he's back for GW34.

    Otherwise the plan is:

    Auba ➡️ Kaku in GW34 & 1 spare transfer for inj/susp/doubts
    BB34 (14 DGW + Salah)
    FH35
    Kaku ➡️ Kane in GW36
    TC37 Kane (11 DGW)

    Appreciate your thoughts! 🙂

It looks good. I would go for Bailly over Smalling unless we know for sure Jones will not be back by the end of the DGW otherwise he will lose his place.

Hazard could be a huge differential going into coming weeks. So tempted but I'd need to be a Salah dodger to make it happen and that's a big risk. Anyone managed to fit hazard, Salah and leave funds for Kane? I can't make it happen without gimping whole squad

I am on WC so can make it happen. For me, it’s hazard and 4.5 defender vs Alonso and Willian.

      What would you do?

His match history suggests he definitely isn't nailed. He has only regularly started since Wood got injured, who is now back and firing. Having said that, he's probably worth the risk if you plan to bench until GW34.

He's been paired with Wood very effectively since the New Zealander returned.

Keeping him. He has a good fixture that week. And an excellent dgw37. It's not about getting the most dgwk34 players, it's about getting ones that score points.

    Had a tinker, (I have activated wildcard but I am currently sitting on the following WCT);

    DDG, Pope
    Tarkowski, Chilwell, Smalling, Alonso, Monreal
    Mahrez, Gross, Salah, Gudmund, Mkhi
    Murray, Vardy, Auba

    This would leave 1.5 itb.

I could then do, Monreal, Mkhi and Gross > Rudiger, Willian & Pogba with 0 itb.
