We continue our series of Monitor members’ articles on Gameweek 34 targets by assessing Brighton and Hove Albion schemer, Pascal Gross.

Although Mohamed Salah has redefined the term “successful debut season”, the German’s rookie campaign deserves its share of recognition.

Following a summer arrival from FC Ingolstadt, Gross has proven himself a standout candidate among budget midfield options. The playmaker has quickly earned a reputation as a premium creative force at the Premier League level, racking up some of the most impressive creativity metrics of any player.

Moreover, with two Double Gameweeks – one confirmed for Gameweek 34, and the latter expected to fall in or around Gameweek 37 – still to come this season, Gross is set to remain at the forefront of plans, with or without the Wildcard at our disposal.

Could Cahill get any gametime during the doubles? Got him in a draft league just to use him in the DGW (since Chelsea's priority will be the cup until then probably) and now am not sure i should stick or get an alternative 2-pointer mid who will have more gametime and will give at least the starting points. Thoughts?

    Ok guys and gals.

    Wc active. No FH!

    DeGea Ryan
    Alonso smalling mee Robertson Morgan
    Salah Willian sterling mahrez gudmanson
    Lukaku vardy Barnes

    BB 34- 12 with doubles.
Gw-35. 2 free transfers and a hit to get 9 players
TC 37- prob kane by getting him for alonso and lukaku. 2 free transfers and a hit to have 11 dgw’s.
    Worry about GW38 later?

Is that the best I can do?

Looks good. Would you consider the other way? 11 doubles for 34, a team loaded up to smash 35 and BB 37? Not saying either way is right or wrong, just the alternatives.

Could be a bit different and have more City and Arsenal if you're chasing...

Trying to negotiate the final weeks without FH is a killer! On WC, BB and TC how does this look?

    DDG, POPE
    ALONSO, Mustafi, Robertson, MORGAN, LOWTON
    Salah, MAHREZ, SON, WILLIAN, GROSS
    Auba, VARDY, BARNES

    GW33 - Save. 2.8m ITB
    GW34 - Auba > Lukaku. BB, 12 DGW players
    GW35 - x3 transfers (-4). 9 players.

By DGW37 I can have 11 DGW players and TC Kane..

How confident are people of Lukaku scoring well in 34? I understand they're playing 2 easy fixtures, but just can't see Mourinho suddenly going all out. They had 2 shots on target v Brighton. Sanchez has admitted he's struggling to settle/adapt and no one else is nailed.

What do you reasonably see him getting?

Would it be more or less than Valencia?

    1. FPLAdmiral
      • 9 Years
      7 years, 11 months ago

He is hitting consistent form, never explosive but a goal each game and an assist isn’t out of question.

I think the appeal for many is the fact United have 2 doubles.

Yeah true. But would Valencia with 2 cleanies and maybe an assist be better for a lot cheaper?

          • 9 Years

That’s what I’m banking on, just don’t see Lukaku worth 11.4m when it impacts the rest of your squad so much. I think defense is where GW34 points could come from.

I'm pretty keen on a triple up on Man U's defence. Had my biggest climbs last year when I went 4 at the back with Jones Alonso Koscielny Brunt. And with Otamendi Jones Alonso this year.

He's had one assist all season. Relying on 2 cleanies is less reasonable than relying on Lukaku to get double digits imo.

His price doesn't affect his chances of scoring points, does it? I'm saying I wouldn't rely on 2 clean sheets from 2 games from any team. Any team can concede 1 goal. But with the defences they're facing, Lukaku can make double digits with just a goal and an assist from 2 games. I think I'd bet on that.

I've got Aubameyang Vardy and Austin.

It's more about what can be done with the money- for example I see Hazard as a better bet and strangely a differential.

Maybe Auba->Lukaku for 34? But a DDG Jones/Smalling Valencia triple up could be great as well.

Yes but at the same time, I don't want to get to GW34 with nowhere to use my FTs (team looks fine provided there are no injuries) while others have gained an advantage by owning Auba and Robertson who will probably score more over the next two.

All pretty spoilt for choice in terms of good Forwards!
I have Vardy, Firmino and Lukaku.
Worth shipping either of them out to get Aubameyang?

You can’t go far wrong with Vardy Firmino Aubamayang

        2FT’s on GW34

        Firmino > Murray
        Aubamayang > Lukaku

One of those is about 2.5m more than the other - surely you want to spread the funds?

Well some of that goes on upgrading Aubamayang, I’m not using this strategy but it might work for someone who has this front 3.

Pretty confused about this. Any good reason which makes you me of the pairs a better option?

      A) Murray & Gudm
      B) Groß & Barnes

The Burnley attacker will be on the bench till 34.

B imo Gross has more influential for BRI.

How about this, A or B?
        A. Alonso, Gross
        B. Christensen, Son

        Thanks.

This ones tough Nik. Son can easily get double digits and so can Alonso. I’d go with the one which is more nailed so probably A.

Not much in it. People have personal preferences but one difference is that Murray & Gudmundsson is slightly cheaper

B looks better for 34. But if you have money issues, you might as well go with A.
Both will get similar points imo.

A does allow for greater flexibility.

And one more reasoning why I like it because I would probably want J.Ayew as my 7th attacker in GW37 rather than a budget mid.

Having the Auba to Lukaku transfer planned, which other planned transfer would you schedule for 34?

      A. Firmino to Vardy (will have Smalling)
      Or
      B. Mustafi to Smalling/Jones/Christensen whoever looks nailed (will have Vardy)

        And why is that so?
Aussies weren't even sorry for the stuff they did. They were sorry for the fact they got caught doing it. It's pretty sure they must've done it earlier as well, and who knows, they might continue doing it.

      DDG, Fabianski

      Lukaku, Aubameyang, Barnes

It’s hard to choose on City midfield players. They only need 6 points to win the league and doesn’t need to go all out during the UCL week vs Liverpool. They also can easily win any match with yaya, gundogan & bernardo silva on the pitch. I’m thinking on skipping any city players at the moment.

On Son, is it better to get him on dgw34 or rather now?

Lastly, BB34 & TC37 or the other way round?

      1. Veezeeboy
        • 13 Years

No city players is pretty popular here rn . Same reasoning you said.

Son could haul anytime but equally is slightly rotation or rest prone .

Same order, other way around will have more of a player pool for 37 but definitely more rotation as well. If you're WC 36, BB 37 is a good gamble else imo

Thanks for your reply. I will skip city player for the time being and will look at it on dgw37.

Son has a tough 3 fixtures (chelsea & stoke away & city) before having a nice remaining. If not getting Son, is it good to replace him with Mkhi? I already have Salah, Willian & Mahrez. Or should I go for DGW34 player?

          I’m on WC now but don’t have FH anymore. That’s why I’m thinking on Tc34 & BB37.

Sold . Too many issues around him and with city wrapping up the league plus other options are there unlike the start of the season where mids were underperforming .
