We continue our series of Monitor members’ articles on Gameweek 34 targets by assessing Brighton and Hove Albion schemer, Pascal Gross.

Although Mohamed Salah has redefined the term “successful debut season”, the German’s rookie campaign deserves its share of recognition.

Following a summer arrival from FC Ingolstadt, Gross has proven himself a standout candidate among budget midfield options. The playmaker has quickly earned a reputation as a premium creative force at the Premier League level, racking up some of the most impressive creativity metrics of any player.

Moreover, with two Double Gameweeks – one confirmed for Gameweek 34, and the latter expected to fall in or around Gameweek 37 – still to come this season, Gross is set to remain at the forefront of plans, with or without the Wildcard at our disposal.

I want to get Gross + Barnes combination, but for that to happen I have to downgrade either Smalling or Christensen. Which one? The replacement can cost 4.8m at most.

    A) Christensen (Have Alonso)
    B) Smalling (Have DDG)

    Current Defence:
    DDG - Ryan
    Alonso - Christensen - Smalling - Lowton - Morgan

    Thanks!

Trying to negotiate the final weeks without FH is a killer! On WC, BB and TC how does this look?

    DDG, POPE
    ALONSO, Mustafi, Robertson, MORGAN, LOWTON
    Salah, MAHREZ, SON, WILLIAN, GROSS
    Auba, VARDY, BARNES

    GW33 - Save. 2.8m ITB
    GW34 - Auba > Lukaku. BB, 12 DGW players
    GW35 - x3 transfers (-4). 9 players.

By DGW37 I can have 11 DGW players and TC Kane.

I’m in same situation. However you need to utilise Burnley more. Have good fixtures. Get gudmonson over gross

Also for cash Ryan over Pope and Tark maybe for Robertson. You can bench two defenders anyway

I think Robertson is a good pick despite no DWG. I'd take Mustafi out for Tarki due to resting risk.

On a WC, but no FH. Team is:

    De Gea Dubravka

    Smalling Mustafi Morgan Tarkowski Naughton

    Salah Mahrez Son Mkhi Kenedy

    Lukaku Murray Firmino

    Views?

Gives me 8 DGW players in 34 (+ Salah, Firmino and Mkhi who imho are better over one week than many of their competitors are over 2)

Then gives me 8 for 35. Plus two FTs means I can take that to 10, including players with good fixtures.

Then gives me at least 12 for DGW 37 and a chance for a BB.

    Sound like a plan?

Have just tried building a FH GW34 team.

It's unbelievable what a powerful 11 you can get when you put 4 active players on your bench who cost £4.2m or less. And my TV is awful.

I agree. The Sanchez cap could be a real differential compared to those who are wildcarding now and can't carry him through a longer stretch.

I've looked at a lot of combinations, considered rotation and days rest (especially for Willian), and sort of like (for now, of course):

      Schmeichel
      Alonso - Valencia - Maguire
      Sanchez - Hazard - Mahrez - Son
      Lukaku - Barnes - Murray

And my TV also isn't all that high. Should be fun, Virg.

If picking Auba it makes sense to keep for rest of the season IMO instead of kicking out for Lukaku before GW34 as we want to get him back for GW37.

The problem is that we also will want Kane for GW37. Maybe crazy, but I'm thinking about downgrade Salah to afford Firmino -> Kane before GW37.

Here's my "Auboomerang" of strikers – I’m just being very mercenary with them, looking at it this is what I think happens
      32: Firmino, Auba
33: roll or Firmino to Vardy
34: Firmino, Auba to Kaku, Vardy
      35: FH, Auba back!

Cool option, but for guaranteed starts, monopoly on set pieces and sheer creativity Gross is the winner.

Donlike the idea though, one for the brave.

    Foster
    Baines TAA Alonso
    Walcott Shaqiri Eriksen Salah
    Aubamayang Firmino Deeney

    Elliot VLP Ake Schindler

    2.2m ITB, 0 FT, 0 WC, 0 FH

    Which option is better?
    A Eriksen > Sanchez (-4)
    B Firmino > Lukaku (-4)

Firmino has no doubles, Eriksen is in great form and Lukaku has shown better (albeit small) potential than Sanchez.
To be fair, I'd rather have Son than Eriksen, but definitely not Sanchez, much better options in midfield

Would anyone care to rate my ... wildcard plan?

    Pope / Ryan

    Alonso / Morgan / Lowton / Monreal / Naughton

    Salah / Son / Willian / Mahrez / Gudmundsson

    Murrray / Aubameyang / Lukaku

    This would mean

    1. 11 doublers in GW34 with BB
    2. 9 players in GW35 using two freebies (albeit including Naughton away to City)
    3. 11 doublers for the GW37 already

I really think he could be a great differential in the run-in, I'm not getting him because I'm leading my ML and don't wanna take such risks and he has already failed me once this season..

A little surprised people falling over Burnley: they fair well at home for cleansheets against teams outside the top 6; otherwise they don’t keep cleansheets... and they don’t score many goals period. So there only home matches are against tough teams... away for their good matches

I might have one enabler... but I think Kenedy is preferred to Gundmonsson for the next two; If you have DDG/Ryan/Mustafi/Alonso/Verty/Morgan/Lowton or Stepehens; The power 4 mids (Mahrez, Salah, Son, Willian) and Auba, Murray, and Firmy or Vardy...

    How's this for a BB 37 team

    DDG - Fabianski
    Morgan - Mee - Christensen - Jones* - Alderweireld*
    Mahrez - Eriksen - Willian - Salah - King
    Vardy - J Ayew - Kane*

*Aub for now until Kane is fit
If no news on Jones fitness, Smalling
Waiting for Belgium-S Arabia to decide on Alderweireld. If he plays, he's in

By GW 37 swap mee for a better GW37 def (unfortunately all swansea slots filled up)

True, but the starting XI should be fine up until 37 (FH 35)
