We continue our series of Monitor members’ articles on Gameweek 34 targets by assessing Brighton and Hove Albion schemer, Pascal Gross.

Although Mohamed Salah has redefined the term “successful debut season”, the German’s rookie campaign deserves its share of recognition.

Following a summer arrival from FC Ingolstadt, Gross has proven himself a standout candidate among budget midfield options. The playmaker has quickly earned a reputation as a premium creative force at the Premier League level, racking up some of the most impressive creativity metrics of any player.

Moreover, with two Double Gameweeks – one confirmed for Gameweek 34, and the latter expected to fall in or around Gameweek 37 – still to come this season, Gross is set to remain at the forefront of plans, with or without the Wildcard at our disposal.

Yeah, he's looked good when I've seen him recently and won the winning penalty for Colombia the other day so should be feeling confident. Has played the full 90 in the last 6 games. I'll probably just end up getting Gross though..

Right lads, taken your advice and taken Hazard out for Willian, spreading the funds.

    Better WC team overall?

    DDG - Ryan
    Valencia - Lowton - Fernandez - Duffy - Morgan
    Salah - Mahrez - Son - Willian - Gudmundsson
    Lukaku - Vardy - J.Ayew

Got 1.0 itb. Use it for Duffy > Christensen? Vardy to Firmino? Or keep it there to help Lukaku > Kane later on? Valencia is the cash cow anyway.

Been tinkering.......How is this revised WC side look? Would have 12 players in week 34 BB DGW ( Auba to Lukaku on a free) then have 2 free transfers and perhaps a hit to get 9/10 for 35 ( one to reverse Lukaku to Auba) and solid base for 37 TC. Kane in week 36 all being well!

    De Gea
    Alonso Maguire Robertson
    Salah Willian Mahrez Son Groß
    Aubameyang Firmino

    Ryan Barnes Lowton Tarkowski

      Do you have anything ITB?

If you do, would you have enough to do maguire to Morgan and use that additional budget to do William to Sterling/Sane?

At least then you have an extra GW35 player.

Anything you'd change about this team? (0.7 ITB)

    DDG / Ryan
    Alonso / Bailly / Lowton / Morgan / VDH
    Salah / Mahrez / Son / Willian / Cork
    Aubameyang / Firmino / Vardy

As it stands, 0.8 ITB allows me to do Aubameyang > Lukaku in 1 transfer. If there's more Lukaku rises, I can use a 2nd transfer*

Cork over Gudmundsson/Gross as, to be honest, I'm only going to have him play in DGW34 (BB). Happy with 4-6 points there. Alternatively, I could have Smalling/Jones (if he falls/is fit) & Gudmundsson. Honestly, this is my favoured pairing but I'm not sure if Smalling/Jones will play. What do you think?

    A) Bailly & Cork
    B) [Smalling/Jones] & Gudmundsson

Also, VDH as the GW34 fixture is decent:

    C) Any BETTER options at 4.4m or below?

I'd really like to, but do you really think Bailly won't play the next few? I am not really planning for Kane this second, but as you say - likely to be Lukaku & Firmino out later down the line.

Thanks. I've thought about that. As you say, it is a risk though. I already have Ryan in goal & am not sure I see a CS in their DGW fixtures. VDH at least has a double in GW37.

It is BB in DGW is the plan, so I may not even need VDH for it. It's an option though. I'm just not sure who my 4.4 DEF should be, unless I get Chilwell/Simpson & a 4.5.

Palace like turning up for the big teams and Everton have improved at home and anything can happen in a derby. Throw in the mix the worry of his minutes...

FH = Make unlimited free transfers for a single Gameweek. At the next deadline your squad is returned to how it was at the start of the Gameweek.

          Original.

Thanks. I thought I could somehow sneak in a transfer for my current team before I free hit and get my new team. I guess not!

Can’t wait for this int break to be over, I’m happy with my WC team and strategy from GW32 -GW37

Just want to get on with it now before I’m convinced im going in the wrong direction.

Murray, but you pay 0.6 more atm and that might tip you into Barnes if you really need that extra funding. Barnes is fine though.

At what point should you gamble and take chances trying to win your ML?
With a 1000£ in the prize pool, and the fact that my OR is 100K I am asking myself: is this the time to try to close in on those ahead of me?

One guy is 100 points ahead with no chips left, and another is 60 points ahead on WC at the moment.
I got no FH and am planning to use TC in GW34, WC in 36 an BB in 37.

I am going to replace Sterling, B.Silva and M.James before GW34, but I don't fancy going the likes of Mahrez, Son, Willian on those other template midfielders (my rival 60 points ahead will most likely do this, and he is WC with the opportunity to FH in GW35).

Instead I am looking to do Sterling, B. Silva and M.James -> Sanchez, Gudmundsson and Groß.
My GW34 squad would look like this with 2 FT in the bank:

    Lloris
    Moses, Mee, Simpson
    Sanchez (TC), Salah, Groß, Gudmundsson
    Firmino, Vardy, Aubemeyang

    (Otamendi, Richarlison, Lascelles)

In GW35 I would swap Sanchez, Vardy and Lloris (-4).

Then go all in for WC and BB in GW36 - 37.

    Might aswell try right?

TC Sanchez is original I’ll give you that. Saw him vs Sweden the other night and he’s just a shadow of his former self right now. Maybe it will change during DGW but I doubt it.

Get Hazard as a differential, Sanchez might be a bit too extreme...but good luck!

I agree with this. If you want a big differential Hazard has got to be your best bet.

Ye well - the good thing about Hazard is that I can wait another week before I commit to that transfer. With Sanchez I'd have to do it before Swansea I think. The bad thing is, that Man U has the best DGW fixtures. Hazard could most likely do the trick aswell.

I went Sanchez TC in GW37 last season when he got 75 points. Back then he played for a proper club too 😉 Yeah he's just not the same at the moment. He may be a good asset next season though.

You might be right.. Going Hazard would allow me to keep B. Silva if I am willing to gamble he will get the PL stars during the CL matches. Could be gold.

Any thoughts on my first WC draft welcomed:

    DDG - Ryan
    Lowton - Christensen - Mustafi - Bailly - Alonso
    Son - Ibe - Mkhit - Mahrez - Salah
    Vardy - Auba - Barnes

Like the Ibe pick, not many are going for him. Christ is an injury worry and you have 2 transfers baked-in 34 if you FH35 but not a bad effort.

Thanks, I think he is a great 5th midfielder choice and very cheap. My plan would be transfer out the Arsenal attackers in 34. Any ideas on an alternative for Christensen? I have 0itb.

The defence looks a tad heavy tbh. If you have FH BB TC left I'd be banking some cash for Lukaku/Kane now as you have 2 transfers planned anyway. Maybe get Christ & Mustafi down to dgw34 cheapos, solid types, 4.5's etc.

Repeating myself here again, and got verbally attacked a few minutes ago, I don't rate Alonso at all. I've watched him lately and he's awful guys. Get Azpilicuetta or Rudiger instead is my thought
