Next up, we take our post-Gameweek delve into the members’ data to assess some of the standout players across the previous round of fixtures.

With Double Gameweeks shaping our plans, Arsenal’s new goal hero, Chelsea’s recent lack of resilience and the form of Man City’s playmaker all come under analysis.

Burnley and Newcastle’s budget frontmen also catch the eye, while we also run the rule over a Fantasy slump for a Stamford Bridge big-hitter.

    Bottomed

Best mid for 6.8 or less for 33 & 34?

    A) Groß
    B) Lingard
    C) Gudmundsson
    D) Other

Would be interested to see if anyone has suggestions other than the above 3

          lol this.

He won't play for us (spurs fan) again. Played for Belgium midweek but out of favour under Belgium due to his wage demands.

Will be sold in the summer.

Yeah 25m release clause for summer 2019 isn't there? So may as well sell him for a lot more this summer.

Is the Rose situation the same? Looks that way to me. Spoke out against Poch in the summer and has barely played since. Isn't the same player after his knee injury either. Ben Davies could be a safer pick than many suspect...

              I suspect so yes.

Davies hasn't done bad for us and now we are out of the champions league there's much less reason for rotation. I'd like to think he's first choice now.

Trippier, however, is much more prone to rotation I think as Poch does like Aurier and wants to give him the chance to prove himself.

Cheers for your thoughts 🙂 Yeah he's really stepped up this season hasn't he? Everyone wanks themselves into a frenzy on here about Alonso but Davies has more attacking returns over the season than he does! I could see Rose getting a run out in the second match of GW34 in preperation for the cup final but other than that Davies looks secure.

Yeah I agree, on the right hand side it looks a 50:50 between those guys each week.

If it's a FH, surely you'd go cheaper on the bench?

Toby probably won't play again for Spurs, let alone twice in a DGW.

Also not sure Moses, Christensen, Lingard start both games.

      schmeichel > Nordfeldt (3.9m bench)
Alder > glenn jhonson (backup plan in case no player)
      Moses > Alonso
      Christensen > Morgan
      Mee > 3.9m bench def
      Lingard > 4.3m/4.3m bench
      Salah > Hazard
      Willian > Iborra lei

      Lukaku > Kane

Right, I'm trying a different strategy but could really use some help figuring out whether it makes sense. I've only got BB and FH left, but my plan is BB in 34 and FH in 37.

    Pros:
+ perfect XI in 37 with maximum knowledge
+ I can set the team up better for 36 & 38, as I don't have to concentrate on 37 (e.g. Liverpool, Palace, Burnley all suit this)
    + I've already got quite a few GW35 players

    Cons:
    - BB in 34 with only 11 DGW players
    - only 9 players in 35 (-4)
    - My head hurts from planning it

Is it worth it, if I end up with a BB team in GW34 that looks like this (* denotes SGW player):

    DDG Ryan
    Mustafi* Bailly Morgan Tark Lowton
    Salah* Mahrez Willian Cork Milivojevic*
    Auba* Vardy Kane (c)

And a GW35 like this (transferring in Silva + Firmino for a -4):

    Mustafi Tark Lowton
    Salah Silva Milivojevic Cork
    Auba Firmino

Bench: DDG, Ryan, Morgan, Willian, Kane, Bailly

    1. Pegboy

I realise I should have made this post punchier...

Is it worth postponing FH to GW37 and risk a slightly weaker GW34 & 35?

  4. Karan_G14

Best option out of these for DGW34 as of now?

    A) Kane, Lingard & Groß
    B) Kane, Willian & Gudmundsson (Have Barnes)
    C) Lukaku, Willian & Gudmunsson (Have Barnes)

Getting Kane for 34 saves a precious transfer after FH35.

    Cheers! 🙂

Option A: Kane + Gudmonsson in for Lukaku + Son (-4). Lukaku back in for Auba for the DGW as my FT.

Option B: Save FT. Use 2 FT's on Kane + Gudmonsson in for Auba + Son for DGW34.

    Current team:

    Lloris
    Smalling - Maguire - Roberson
    Salah - Mahrez - Mili - Zaha
    Kane(c) - Lukaku - Vardy
Bench: Elliot - McArthur - Keane - Kenny

Gw34 transfer plan: Salah + Zaha > Hazard + Lingard (-4) - do not have much value in Salah.

Plan to WC in 35 (no FH or TC) and BB in 37 - thoughts?

That's my thinking. And with Son for Spurs coverage (for every goal Kane scores, there's a good chance of an assist).

We all knew there was a chance Kane would be back for Stoke away. The decision (should have been) deeper than "he misses one excellent fixture". He has a DGW with one game v City and the other days before a cup semi v Chelsea. With top four locked in, I wouldn't be surprised to see his minutes managed in that game. While Liverpool will be out of Europe in 8 days and Pierre can only play in the league*

*all the justifications I made last week, but I stand by them

        1. joeydelucchi
          • 9 Years
          7 years, 11 months ago

Exactly this, i know he is the great Harry kane but i see more justifications going against bringing him back in than for...my team without:

          schmeich (coleman)
          alonso lowton simpson monreal robertson
          lingard young salah mahrez willian
          auba firm lukaku

i could potentially drop alonso and auba for tark and kane ...but would it be worth it?
same goes for mahrez...firm...monreal....robbo....some of these play the following week and kane doesnt.

i think Kane GW36 is certifiable ! ....we will all spend a lot of time behind that couch in a couple of weeks tho! haha

    For GW 33:

Then Auba to Lukaku in GW34.

    Power 3 Frontline verdict?

Kane back from injury makes him the first name on most DGW34 teamsheets. An essential in my eyes.

Lukaku and Vardy’s form make them very hard to look past too. 9 goals and 7 goals in their last 10 respective games. Rom’s fixtures also make him solid captain material.

The only other option I can see is the Wood/Barnes/Murray/Austin 3rd striker, but I don’t see the benefit of downgrading a striker to upgrade a midfielder- especially when Salah, Son, Willian, Mahrez will be taking up 4 of the 5 slots for most.

    Disclaimer:
Auba + Lukaku + Vardy owner.
    Soon-to-be Kane owner.

Yeah - I'm considering a Lukaku/Kane/Vardy front 3 on WC too, though it probably means taking a big chance and not having Salah. Am chasing so may be no point in being a wuss and doing what everyone else is 🙂

    2. Going Home
      • 14 Years

Disagree - Kane, while tempting, is not essential imo

To be essential, he has to be capable of doing something nobody else can. Morata, Lukaku and even Auba/Bobby with a single game, are capable of matching Kane's return from those two fixtures (one of which is particularly difficult and the other of which comes days before a cup semi v rivals with top four sewn up).

Would I like to have Kane? Yes
Will I sacrifice two great options (Lukaku/Auba and Son) to get him in together with a £7m midfielder? No

I can see your point. His game time around the semi-final could be slightly concerning. Though I don’t see him being dropped with the golden boot still in his sights. If you think Salah 5 ahead is out of sight for Kane + 1 game in hand, you’d be mistaken (Cc: Romelu. Subject: 16/17 Golden Boot).

I just cannot take the chance of not having Kane for a double gameweek, no matter who it’s against.

        1. Going Home
          • 14 Years
          7 years, 11 months ago

Exactly - it's personal preference rather than him being "essential".

Does he want to win (and is he capable of winning) the Golden Boot? Obviously; I wouldn't argue otherwise. But he doesn't pick the team, and Poch may have more pressing concerns. It's also worth remembering that this will be his prime chance to shine at a World Cup, as age is very much on his side. He may be willing to bypass a third consecutive golden boot to make sure he comes into that fresh.

Obviously Kane could start Spurs' next three games and score 8/9 goals and I look silly and lose a lot of ground. But there are risks which people don't seem to be considering with bringing him in, not to mention the points which could be lost from the players you get rid of (no reason Auba and Son couldn't more than match Kane's returns between now and blank, and then I'd have Auba for 35 without the need for a change)

I’m in a position where I own Auba and will have him for GW33 and captain him.

I will sell for Kane for BB34.

I will bring in Auba for FH35.

The case for Kane is also that City is his only difficult fixture left. This fixture, however, is coupled with trip to Brighton who have 1 CS in 11. Which makes him the most appealing player for the remainder of the season - at least in my opinion.

            1. Going Home
              • 14 Years
              7 years, 11 months ago

I don’t think we are disagreeing. We both think it would be appealing to have Kane. The point I made is that I don’t think having Kane is “essential”. There will be plenty who don’t have him, there are other good options and there are some small risks that come with having him. Compare this with Salah, say, who is clearly essential. Everyone has him, nobody else in midfield is returning even close to what he does and there are very limited risks to owning him.

Ultimately I’m not too worried about going without Kane *until* W36 as I would be going without him *from* GW36

There needs to be a clear checklist to define an essential player:

                - Form
                - Points ceiling
                - Upcoming fixtures
                - % Ownership
                - Opportunity cost
                - Captain material

Maybe I am missing a few more factors.

I think the only thing Kane does not satisfy of the above is % ownership and there is an opportunity cost.

I think his ownership will rise considerably now he is back (25% at time of writing). Although this is low for Kane standards, it will rise before DGW34, and DGW37 should be nearing 50%.

There is opportunity cost as you mention: absence of Auba/Morata/Hazard/Sanchez. But that is the case for Salah too.

      Swaying that myself.
Vardy has 15 PL goals so is the front runner. Murray has more goals per 90 min, but has tougher fixtures. Barnes has 2 home games in gw34 and has scored in 4 games in a row, but has only 7 goals all season.
If I get Vardy, I can't get Willian or Christensen, but I'm thinking Chelsea's league season is now over so could be in freefall which in turn means Barnes might having as he faces them in his 2nd game.

Willian is one of those curious players - the worse Chelsea get, the better he plays. Remember the 2015/16 season, he was a shining light when all the other players had downed tools. For that reason, his recent form, and his cheap price, I'm happy to hold him until the end of the season.

I guess the rivals at that price are Zaha and Arnautovic. But zaha isn't as explosive as Willian, never gets bonus, and isn't the best player for strategy for those with free hit and BB left. Arnautovic is playing well but West Ham are a very inconsistent team and have a horrendous fixture list. He won't face Mark Hughes every week either....

There aren’t any better nailed 6.0m mids who have a dgw in 34.

Son looks a great option. Yeah he might miss one match but who won’t? Getting Eriksen, Alli or Hazard means downgarde elsewhere.

    4. greghammer95

I think what people missed here is that there's two weeks between now and DGW, they're good DGW options but not neccesarily for the rest of the season... Son arguably a good option outside of a DGW.

Risk and reward really, more likely to get big points from the aforementioned. Likely to get a solid 4-6 points from a nailed midfielder...

Personally left Son out until GW34 as I knew I'd have a FT to burn to bring him in. Ozil was my punt. So far, so good? 😀

been considering Maguire on WC - but it says he's on 9 yellows - does he get a suspension when he hits 10 yellows?

not sure, there's limits at 5, 10, and 15 yellows but i'm not clear on the cut-off dates etc

according to fa website cut-off for 10 yellows suspension is 32 games, so i guess he's safe - might be reading the rules wrong though 😀
