The ScoutCast crew are always quick to jump on the shoulders of giants, so when a veteran of the Fantasy Football Scout community starts to threaten a Fantasy Premier League title tilt, we just have to get them on the show.

Matt Kearney aka “Bowstring the Cap” has been about on our pages for seven seasons but never has he experienced one like this. Currently ranked twenty-third in the world, he drops by in this latest episode to offer his take on the campaign and, in particular, the strategy for the run-in.

In truth, Matt was better placed before Gameweek 33 and, along with Jonty, Andy and Az, he joins me to look back at the lowest scoring weekend of the campaign when even the leading managers faltered.

But those gripes are soon drowned by a wave of enthusiasm on the eve of Double Gameweek 34.

That’s the focus for your latest set of community questions, sparking our thoughts on the optimum heavy-hitters, the rotation fears and our confidence in Chelsea to produce over the extra fixtures.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

How important is Alonso? Its between getting Alonso or getting Long and having 3.2 million extra to upgrade elsewhere...

It sounds daft but if that 3.2 is the difference between Kane and Vardy or the likes then it's probably worth it lol

Hehe:P Yeah, Im obviously aware that it should pretty much be straight forward.. But its the 3.2 million extra by having Long thats tempting.. I mean, they could easily end up with the same number of points and if I invest the 3.2 million well elsewhere it could be worth it?

Yeah. And since Men is out he has two games with decent CS potential, Alonso might not outscore him by much, if at all, and it saves 3.2 million... But is it still madness to pick Long ahead of Alonso? hehe

It all depends on what you'd do with the 3.2? Burnley are probably better than Chelsea defensively right now anyway so you'd be banking on Alonso attacking returns which have dried up recently. No goals or assists in the last 11 gameweeks.

Kane purchasers & Salah keepers, who have you sacrificed for Harry?
Seems many have sold Son but won't you be wanting him back in GW36? Alonso seems another up for the chopping block but that could easily backfire too. I don't like the thought of having to lose either really, esp before a DGW.

Personally I'm looking at Gross to Romeu, the cheapest DGW mid available, he is all I can afford tbh, but i'd be happy to have Kane back without too much sacrifice elsewhere

Perversely I am hoping for LIV lineup to be leaked and Salah to be somehow rested/slightly still injured/confirmed out for BOU this weekend so I can downgrade him and upgrade Auba to Kane for free, but that is unlikely so with the risk of Son's gametime (rarely completes 90mins, Lamela lurking, FA Cup there) I am downgrading SON at the moment as many others are too.

Given the reaction from Salah to Kane getting that goal I don't think there's much chance he won't play. Seems both of them are going to be going hard for that golden boot.

Agree - but still waiting to the last minute in case he has some reaction in training after only being out 1 week ago. Highly unlikely he misses the match, but will wait until the end.

Re-post here because I received a grand total of zero responses last time:

A little help please!!! 1.2 itb, and have FH for GW 35, current line-up is -
    Alonso, Smalling, Morgan, Monreal, Lowton
    William, Sterling, Gross, Mahrez, Kenedy
    Barnes, Auba, Kane

Auba + Monreal + Sterling > Kaku + Long + Erickson for for a -8 worth it this week if I BB?

If not, which parts would you do to lessen the hits? Can do 1 or a combo. of the three...which parts, or all worth it in long run?

I think that Auba+Monreal to Long and Lukaku can pay off for a -4.

Monreal will likely miss at least one more game while Arsenal are still in Europe and you can probably ride out the rest of the season with Long as a 4.0 defender.

Lukaku could and should get you the -4 back and hopefully with quite a profit.

The -8 also makes some sense given that I believe all three of the players coming in look well placed for two starts.

Really can’t decide leaning towards buying Lukaku over Kane. I can also do Mustafi to Long for free.
    Anyone else scratching there heads?

    B) Lukaku Son

Aubameyang, Gross & Iwobi to Austin, Pogba & Alli for a -8 ? Reckon it could pay off easily between now and end of the season.

Indeed. I wasn't playing last year so didn't experience that, but I can imagine it influences decisions on him this year.

Just seems surprising that the consensus is Kane over Lukaku when the fixtures heavily favour Lukaku. I know Kane is a better player, but he hasn't been unstoppable this season really and hasn't scored double-digits since GW23!

I'm just trying to convince myself that Lukaku is the right pick, as I'm a sucker for fixtures. 🙂

If anything, this week's shenanigans shows how greedy he is for goals all the time, so I don't really buy that he's more motivated to score now to win the golden boot than for the rest of the season.

He's a greedy git who'll want to score all the goals even in pre-season friendlies.

gross to lingard or dunk to long?
    - i have a spare transfer that will go to waste when i ft next week.
    - i have ryan in net and don't really like the look of double briton defence
    - i would have 0.4 inb if i ditch dunk
    - ive lost faith in gross and lingard has great fixtures
    - lingards mins are a risk with the fa cup

think im set on lingard coz i'll probably want to ditch both for 37. so its all about who gets me more point this week. the money in the bank is sort of irrelevant coz i can ditch dunk next week. so its all about who gets me more points A) gross long or B) lingard dunk. could even look at childwell and yoshida and lingard, with me already having lowton.

    No Kane
    No MUN defence
    No Lukaku
    No Salah
How big of a couch should I buy for this double?

Medium one I guess? I'm also going without Kane and to be honest I'm not concerned in the slightest (let's talk again about this after the GW, haha).

You do have Sanchez, who will probably match (or better) Lukaku. Salah is a difficult one - I probably wouldn't have bought him either if I didn't own (but of course in no way am I tempted to sell yet).

I'd be most worried about the most boring out of the options: United defence, since they look primed for 2 clean sheets.

Two CS for MUN is a worry and could be a real rank killer!

No wayyy...I am in trouble no Kane and MuN defence business.

Of those I only have De Gea.

      I'll be hiding too.

Probably because I doubt Koscielny will and can't see Wenger going with Chambers and Holding.

    Would you rather have

    A) Son & Vardy

    B) Eriksen & Austin

    C) Sanchez & Austin

A is the best pair. So, yeah A.

Thanks. A was my original option, but I just got this hunch recently about Austin for some reason!

      A

C or B for captaincy options, A if not.

Good points. There's no way I'd captain Eriksen over Lukaku though. I would probably captain Sanchez over Lukaku, however C would leave me with no Spurs attack.

OK, I guess I talked myself back to my original option of Vardy and Son!

Captain Lukaku and going A looks best by far so, considering you have no Kane!
The only thing is that Son's minutes are a worry imo, both Lamela & Moura should get minutes and perhaps a start in one of the doubles.
