Our open-to-all Fantasy Premier League Cup competition is edging towards its conclusion with just 16 managers left to battle it out in the sixth round.

Always Captain Kun, who is 23rd in the overall rankings, remains the hot favourite as the tournament’s highest placed manager. He already has a top 500 finish back in 2014/15.

The decision to Bench Boost in Gameweek 34’s fifth-round tie against Norman Conquest netted an impressive 107 points and helped him win by a 40-point margin. His chief stars were Manchester United’s Chris Smalling, Burnley’s Johann Berg Guðmundsson and his captain Harry Kane, who all delivered double-digit returns.

BroTown_Tindersticks, who is ranked 96,678, faces the daunting task of taking on the cup favourite. Both have their Free Hit and Triple Captain chips left, with the former likely to be deployed by both.

The competition’s second highest placed manager N@th (rank 1,247) has a far trickier encounter. He has been drawn against Dmcqt, who is just 1,712 places behind him and one of six remaining competitors to boast a top 10,000 rank.

N@th’s 108 score in round five proved too much for kevcar’s tally of 73, while Dmcqt had a far closer match with The Matadors, who he edged out 95 to 91. In terms of chips, Dmcqt only has a Free Hit remaining, while N@th has both his Free Hit and Triple Captain chips at his disposal.

The competition’s lowest placed manager Meribenige’s score of 78 in the previous round was just enough to see off Bilbo Baggins (rank 14,968), who could only muster 66 points.

But the 296,8181-ranked minnow will need to ramp up his giant-killing skills to defeat 1,522 placed Batmaniac in the sixth round. This task is made especially difficult as Meribenige only has a Bench Boost chip left and has already taken two hits.

Batmaniac, meanwhile, has both his Free Hit and Triple Captain chips to call on. It seems likely that the former is being deployed and tinkering already underway, given no transfers have been flagged up for his team, and he has 6.1 in the bank.

The full fifth round results can be found here, while the draw for the last sixteen can be found here.

It's Anfield Express' twitter account, but I did a little research and believe this is the actual ITK for Pool lineups https://twitter.com/GrizzKhan/status/987336505063563264 He posts the correct lineups hours before Anfield Express do.

Auba. Even if he doesn't start, likely to score off the bench. Just have cover if you're on FH

I'd prefer Laca after Wengers comments on the team he'll play to get ready for Atletico

    3. el polako
      • 9 Years

Auba - better and much more confident striker, even with reduced minutes should be able to produce some returns(looking at his latest history).

    4. InvertedWinger
      • 11 Years
      8 years, 4 months ago

Sounds to me like Lacazette will surely get 65 odd minutes as central striker whilst Aubs may get anything between 90 (most as winger) to 25.
      Laca safer.

I’m not sure really matters. Lacazette probably starts and Auba replaces him after 65 minutes. Both could score. As think Lacazette will get more time on balance would back him.

I think they share minutes Az.. think Laca will start, Wenger has almost made it sound like a warm up for Atleti, then Auba comes on for the last half an hour.

    @ Mods/Mark
    I don't usually grumble but.....
I have received the leaked Liverpool line up from various sources for a few years, Anfield Express being one of them.
Over the past couple of seasons Berbs has consistently leaked the Pool team in advance of my sources. He has rather an impressive track record.
This has been to the advantage of the FFS community, at no personal gain to himself.
He regularly posts the correct team before Anfield Express.

    My question is this:
At what point do you accept the guy himself as a source?

    Cheers
    Clump 😉

🙁 That's a shame and I hope you'll reconsider, especially as I think this is a watershed moment that means you'll be able to post the line ups (with the appropriate level of caveat that Mark is wanting) and be taken more or less as gospel.

From going back and reading the comments from earlier in the day I think Mark has answered this way more eloquently than I could, at length and repeatedly throughout the afternoon.

Personally I trust Berbs and his sources but my judgment is awful so that's not a ringing endorsement 😉 For a long time its been the case that posts with team news/line ups without stating sources or offering suitable caveats have risked moderation. I guess someone just applied that standard without discrimination (which is fair enough, although I tend towards leniency (inactivity)).

Pretty sure Berbs has made his peace with Mark and all is good, hopefully everyone else can come to terms with the situation too 🙂

It’s all nonsense anyway, fantasy points in a virtual game, that someone else posts on twitter anyway.

If anyone believes everything they read on the internet, it’s up to them, no harm done is there?

      2. Clump
        • 11 Years
        8 years, 4 months ago

Oh, for sure. I'm not trying to be controversial.
        My point is simply this:
No one asks where Anfield Express gets his source from, yet you've got a community member who regularly shares the same info before them.
By this logic unless A E disclose their source, posts relating to them should be deleted too.

I'd say it's slightly different - someone posting to say "Anfield Express has just tweeted this line up..." is in essence offering an external source which gives the poster (and in turn FFS) protection from any backlash if the line up is wrong.

If a poster just says "Line up will be..." then they're offering no trackable source and if the line up is wrong then they themselves will take flak for the post and FFS will be criticised for leaving it up. People still remember Alonso14 😉

Personally I agree, Berbs is trustworthy but that's the distinction between the two situations.

            • 11 Years

            Sound.
Berbs can quote his own Twitter account as it's external.
            Problem solved 🙂

He could if he wanted to, or he could just add a small caveat to his post here like Mark suggested.

Sadly it sounds like he isn't going to do either 🙁

      I’m in with the miln.

Don’t think he will get a pen or a clean sheet but good chance of attacking returns.

Sound. Great front 7. I hope Milner plays for you.

I’m trying to slightly different? Not sure if different enough.

      Cech
      Baines Mustafi Ward
      Salah Mane DavidSilva Gundogan (Milivojevic)
      Jesus Aubameyang Firmino

      Good enough?

Firm not likely to start according to leaked line up. Have a reshuffle if you'd like to. Looks good otherwise.
