The curtailed Gameweek 35 concludes at Goodison Park tonight as Everton host Newcastle United in a fixture that has all the makings of a dead rubber.

The two teams are now surely safe from the threat of relegation and appear to be playing for Premier League prize money only over the remaining matches.

But from a Fantasy perspective, there is still interest in the Merseyside clash, with Free Hit managers investing in the likes of Jordan Pickford, Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman in their one-week refresh.

All start for the home side tonight.

Meanwhile, those without the chip at their disposal, likely take Magpies assets into this match, with Ayoze Perez, Kenedy and budget defender Paul Dummett among the most likely to feature in squads.

Indeed, Perez is the most signed player on show tonight, having commanded over 133,000+ transfers in ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

That follows a rich vein of form from the Spaniard which has produced three goals and three two assists from his last three Gameweek starts.

Perez sits behind Islam Slimani in the attack tonight, with the Algerian starting a Premier League match for Newcastle for the first time since his loan move from Leicester City.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    What to do with Sané?

    A) Sané -> Eriksen
    B) Keep and do Salah -> Eriksen instead of he's not starting
    C) Keep this week and switch to D.Silva next week

    DDG
Lowton - Tarkow - Long (Simpson, Mariappa)
Salah - Sterling - Son - Sané (King)
    Kane - Jesus - Vardy

1 FT and 1.0 ITB now

I would wait until Friday night before doing any transfer.

Sané might have a chance to start this week, but probably get rotated again on DGW37. So, I think Eriksen (WAT) might be better for both this GW and next on DGW37.

In GW31 in the top 10k, FH teams outscored non-FH teams by 18 points.

In GW35 in the top 10k, FH teams outscored non-FH teams by 24 points.

This is not a perfect measure (there may be some self-selection bias), but it seems to suggest that FH35 was the better strategy. I also think that the FH35 allowed an easier navigation of the DGWs, which was a much greater advantage than the easier navigation of GW28-30 which FH managers had.

Safe would be to play the FH in GW31 when you knew which teams were blanking. We could have easily had only 2 postponed fixtures and the free hitters of GW35 would be regretful.

Hard to tell but maybe just.
I did not think it was a good idea before the City game I had 14 points from 5.
Ended up with 55k GW rank !!
Same strategy probably went 34 BB too and that was decidedly mediocore for me with at 650k GW rank.

Yeah but FH35 teams get their old teams back now, many without any City assets 😉
I took a -16 this week and scored 59 points, scored 111 on my FH in 35. Happy enough with that. It's all team dependant anyway, no better strategy.

Seems a bit unfair that goalies get the same number of points (6) per goal as defenders. They are so rare, it should be like triple that.

Penalties should be 4 (or 5) across the board. I understand why open play goals are scored differently for forwards, mids, and defenders, but when it comes to a pen the player hasn't done anything demonstrably different based on their position.

Yeah, it's lucky, but for me it's more about the skill of it. Baines gets 6 for a penalty but Kane gets 4? Based on what? He hasn't executed things any differently: his positioning doesn't make the task harder (like it is in open play); he isn't less skilled at striking a ball; etc. It's a part of the game I've always taken for granted, but when you think about it, it makes no sense.

    The Salah KDB Transfer Conundrum
By should-be FPL Hall of Famer Yer Old Da

So I’m already set on downgrading Alonso to a cheap double defender, someone like Dummett, to free up the funds for Mahrez and Willian > Eriksen and Sterling.

The question now is whether it’s worth another 4 point hit to swap Salah > KDB for GWs 36&37, before reversing it in GW38 (the funds will be available for a no-hit swap). Here’s the facts justifying the move:

    1. If Salah is scheduled to play we hold off until 37. Then it’s effectively a 2 for 1 deal. KDB has 69% of Salah’s points so on a pro-rate basis it makes sense.
    2. Factor in the opponents (Salah v Chelsea away, KDB v Huddersfield and Brighton at home) and suddenly it’s a no-brainer, even if you assume it’s like taking a 4 point hit.

The defence rests. No further questions your honour.

    1. Pinky Blinders
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 3 months ago

I like KDB but I think minutes could be an issue from here on out. Pep gave him 65 min vs SWA and we definitely could see him being rested for any match going forward. Maybe not the first home match of the double against HUD since they get the trophy but possibly the second. He’s played a lot of minutes this season and I’ll probably look cheaper for my third City attacker just because of the unpredictability of minutes between them all.

Probably wont be this much effective next year since everyone will save it for BGW now 😮

    1. Licious Lizard (delete acc)

Yeah I think a lot of semi serious players will understand it better next year. Looking at MLs, they definitely understood that they blew their load too early.

      • 9 Years
      8 years, 3 months ago

Did it not seem a no-brainer though, even at the beginning of the season that the BGWs were the best time to use the chip. Most casual players won't care next season anyway but just use it whenever they feel like it 🙂

I agree it seemed pretty obvious that a FH was best used in the blank and double GW season, but I still think a lot of “casuals” only really think about it after they used it wrongly. At least I have seen in my MLs that people usually have squandered their chips in their first year and put more thought in it their second year with the chips.

It certainly seemed that way but temptation and niavety probably took over.
Anybody who's played and knows the benefits of the DGWs but the pitfalls of the blanks would have seen that but temptation can blind.

      4. Licious Lizard (delete acc)

Nah the devil is in the detail I picked the 11 non scoring ones 🙂

        Who is the City one?
If I was only going 1 City it would be a hard call.

I have Willian but think I will go without any Chelsea players for the double on my WC. There is just so much value elsewhere.

Possibly no UTD outfield players either except DDG, despite the good fixtures. Had Valencia, Lukaku and Alexis for the last double, not getting burned again.

Yeah I noted that below in your team.
I WCed in 32 so kinda stuck with Sanchez now after a massive BB34 captain fail on him. 🙂

37 Bench Boosters, what will your bench look like?
(the ones you would bench without the chip!)
    Mine will most likely be:
Fabianski, Yedlin, Ogbonna, Mili (only SGW player)

      Hart Kenedy VDH Dummett

20 points from this would be heaven

Probably Dubravka, Lascelles, Naughton, & either Gudmundsson (no hit) or similar priced DGW player like Kenedy/Iwobi (-4)

      Fabianski, Ayew, Morgan, Fernandez

It's a little early, but how about his DGW team (on a WC)? Note: Rival in H2H has no UTD attackers and is not likely to get any.

    DDG
    Vert Naughton Cedric (Long, Fodder)
    Sterling Salah Kenedy Eriksen (Romeu)
    Jesus Vardy Kane

Enough money in the bank to swap Salah out for KDB (whom rival has) if the team news isn't good.

    Thoughts?

      Looks good.
In case you need someone off the bench would A.king not be better than Romeu or even Carrol if you have .1 better fixtures

-8, but might hold off on Sterling until 37

I personally think even -8 would be worth it

      I'd consider this for a -12!

I could do this for -12 but Alonso and Mahrez can punish even tho poor recently and that gross chap could bink a pen

    De Gea
    Smalling, Lowton, ALONSO
    Hazard, Willian, Dier, Gudmundsson
    Vardy, Kane, Lukaku

    Karnezis, Gross, Simpson, Morgan

    0.2M ITB
    1FT
    OR 2,290

What would you do with this lot?

Alonso needs to go and I'm worried Jesus could be essential for the last few games ....

      Shocking midfield. Prioritize that

        Yeah. Che could do ok.
But I think something like Hazard and Willian to Eriksen and Sterling

And also Alonso downgrade and Vardy to Jesus aswell
Only 2* -4 required over this week and next to do it.
Anyway with that OR you don't need my advice 🙂

Don't know why people are getting rid of mahrez for sterling who will get benched next game, and for a hit too. Mahrez has another double so am keeping, I'd rather ditch gross

Maybe you are right maybe be not.
But you gotta consider the price difference between Mahrez and Gross here too. It's not apples for apples. And personally I am done with Mahrez. But will now wait til 37 to get rid for ..... Sterling

got rid of kaku for Jesus yesterday since all of myL rivals without free hit brought in Jesus, more of a cover move.

If you're level, that's a good move, if you're chasing, a gamble on Lukaku might have been the way to go. UTD have good fixtures but I just don't trust Mourinho after the last double. Jesus a safer bet.
