Liverpool make it to the Champions League final – with a touch of stress – but their key assets are fast losing Fantasy appeal regardless.

An extraordinary semi-final tie with Roma was, to all intents and purposes, won in the first leg, with the result confirmed early in the second, thanks to away goals from Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum.

That didn’t stop the match finishing 4-2 to the Italians, and the aggregate score reading 7-6 to the Reds, as a last-minute (and incredibly harsh) penalty decision given for a handball by substitute Ragnar Klavan kept the contest captivating to its final seconds.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will now face Real Madrid in the final, a full 13 days after the end of the domestic season.

That mini-break, and the fact that Liverpool are yet to nail down Champions League football for next season, should keep rotation off Klopp’s agenda.

But the team’s lack of a Double Gameweek 37 means many Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have already seen enough.

Their two most popular players, Mohamed Salah (57.6%) and Roberto Firmino (37.0%), are the top two transfers-out heading into the penultimate Gameweek of the season, with a combined quarter of a million owners selling the pair on.

Neither impressed in Rome last night, with Firmino unusually profligate in possession, although he did set up Mane’s opener.

As for Salah, he was frequently caught offside and gave the impression of a man trying too hard to add to his 43 goals for the season.

The Egyptian has now gone scoreless in back-to-back matches for only the second time since the middle of October.

He’s failed to score in three straight matches just the once, and Sunday’s trip to Chelsea will be a tough fixture to avoid a repeat of that run.

Klopp has consistently stated that he will not rotate his side unduly until a top-four finish is confirmed, and he maintained that stance even in the immediate aftermath of last night’s result.

“Chelsea at the weekend is an unbelievably important game for us. I give the boys tonight; it’s cool, they don’t drink alcohol, but they will stay a little bit longer awake and then we recover tomorrow…We have two very important Premier League games then let’s go there (the final) and try our best.”

That doesn’t look like being enough to stem sales in the pair or, indeed, other key members of the side.

Left-back Andrew Robertson, who had an excellent match in Rome, is in the top four for transfers out, with Mane at six and both Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold also in the top 30.

The young right-back, in particular, had a tough time of it in Rome, though with Joe Gomez sidelined and Nathanial Clyne still edging back to fitness, Alexander-Arnold will still be expected to be on duty at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool’s superior goal difference means that a draw with Chelsea will effectively guarantee them Champions League football for next season, which would make Gameweek 38’s home match with Brighton a dead rubber.

Fantasy managers are clearly not keen to wait that long, with Double Gameweek 37 players from both Manchester clubs, Spurs and, pending tonight’s Europa League result, Arsenal offering more clear-cut points potential than Klopp’s troops.

Those unwilling, or unable, to sell on their Liverpool assets can at least find some comfort in Chelsea’s poor defensive record of late.

The Blues’ clean sheet at Swansea City in Gameweek 36 was their first in eight league matches, and they haven’t managed a home shut-out since Gameweek 27.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have failed to score away from home only three times – and in six league matches in total – all season, although two of those blanks have come in the past four Gameweeks.

Is it worth to take another hit (already on -8) to take out Willian for a max 7.2 mid?? thinking of B.Silva or Arnaut..

It is if you think the one you bring in will outscore Willian. How many hits you've taken is irrelevant

I'd say so. Hard to find a nailed and good premium defender at 6.4 when you already got Smalling and can't get Vertonghen. Maybe a City defender or Arsenal defender (if they go out)? Or just get Mawson for some goal threat.

Ideally would prefer Danilo being nailed, those are two nailed on clean sheets for City.

The more I think about it, the more I'd rather get rid of Willian - > Arnie instead of Gross -> Arnie

Keeping Gross seems like a good idea now, fighting for survival, against a united team short on clean sheets and a city team who might give the youngsters and yaya run in

    Salexit ...again?

Is it worth going without Mohamed Salah for Double Gameweek 37, given he only has one fixture - away to Chelsea - and other Manchester City and Spurs midfielders have two favourable matches?

Are those without much value tied up in him considering the move?

How confident are those already without him about going into another set of matches sans Salah?

Are those with lots of value wrapped up in the winger considering cashing in....and possibly buying back GWK 38?

Or have previous failed Salexit strategies put you off ditching him?

Worth getting rid for sane/eriksen/KDB and such players if you can get him back with 1 transfer. Anything including a hit getting rid or getting back probably isnt worth it. I have been thinking a lot about this. I've had Hazard in my team since my GW32 WC, and he's the same price as Salah. That's an easy way to get Salah back for GW38.

If I do move Salah out, it will be for Eriksen for a hit. I'm also assuming I would like to do at least one other move ahead of GW38, which mean I would have to take a hit to get Salah back. If my math is correct Eriksen would have to outscore Salah by 8 points in the double to break even. Is that likely? Could well happen, but I don't like the odds. If Salah score a goal Eriksen would have to get 15 points to break even.

Should probably factor in Hazard (if Salah stays) vs. Eriksen (if Salahexit) for GW38 as well into that thinking, but I fancy both to get a decent score there.

Thinking of selling for Eriksen (or Hazard) for a -4, can buy back for free next week as I have .9 in the bank.

Something is stopping me though, not sure what, just find it hard to do as he's fixture proof and so dangerous.

Wouldn't put it past him to score and assist at the weekend, their front 3 can terrorise Chelsea who are not great at the back.

I’m tempted. I think Kane, Jesus, double City mid and Salah is the key to finishing strongly though. All bases covered even if you pick the wrong captain. I can see the merit of switching to Eriksen, makes perfect sense, but I have zip in the bank so won’t be able to get him bank for GW38. So I think I’ll roll the FT.

He is staying in my team. But then again I already have Kane, Jesus, Sterling, Gündogan & Eriksen to keep him company, so really no need to get rid of him. I know, Gündogan is a bit of a gamble but I just thinks he gets further forward than Fernandinho when he plays, so gambling a little for some offensive returns in the minutes he does play.

The plan was to get rid of Salah around week 33 and bring back for 38, but this was all messed up by the injury to Mkhitaryan so decided to keep him and save the hits.

My only previous Salexit was in GW22-23 when I replaced him with Eriksen for 2 game-weeks for a 4 point hit.
Eriksen outscored him by 17 points to 11, and I then brought Salah back in GW24 for free, so it wasn't really a failure.

I intend to repeat the exercise this game-week - I can sell Salah for Eriksen for free this week, then get Salah back for free in GW38. I expect Eriksen to again outscore Salah this week by about 6 points.

I have too much cash tied up. As Az said, if you were going to get rid the time was weeks ago, during a WC when you could easily redistribute cash. Apart from last week he's delivered - I have a number of high priced players I have and could have have who have not.. and in all honesty, even Salah non-owners would not have expected a blank vs Stoke.

As somebody else said, if I could, I would love to buy Erikson and then get him back but I can't. And besides, are Chelsea really so impressive? At various points of the season I've had Alonso, Christensen, Hazard, Willian and Morata and apart from one 15 odd pt haul from Hazard, I've gotten NOTHING... do Liverpool have anything to fear going to Chelsea? Don't they usually win there? I think there's a good chance Salah ends up outperforming some of my DGWers (the rest of my team basically)... I've convinced myself to play him writing this.

Selling for KDB this week funded by Mustafi to Cedric which allows KDB to Salah in 38.

I think Salah will blank v Chelski and my four point hit will be more than made up by KDB and Cedric over Mo and Mustafi

As an aside I can't see why people are considering Eriksen over KDB Spurs are poor at present and WBA and Newcastle are not easy to roll over now compared to Huddersfield and Brighton at home for City where I would expect around 8 goals over the two games for City

Looking at average points per match over the last 5 games, I'd be better off using bench boost with 3 single gameweek players with reasonable looking fixtures (Stoke and Palace) than triple captaining Kane.

Is that just because the sample size is too small?

Been saying for seasons that BB for a DGW need not be the only way to play. Would rather my budget options had a good fixture. Played mine in 34 with Sterling and triple Liverpool

GW30 was the start of a sequence of matches when Kane was either injured or just returned from injury, and also included matches against Chelsea and Man City, so it's probably not the best sample - perhaps better to look at his performances against sides outside the top six over a longer period.

A good Bench Boost in a DGW ought to be worth 16 points or more (in DGW34 it was worth 21 points on average for teams in the top 10k), so you'd probably need at least 16*3 from Harry to make Triple Captaining him better than a Bench Boost.

But it depends how well you are set up for a Bench Boost. If you still have both chips, it would probably be better to save the Triple Captain for GW38, since GW38 rotation may mean that some of your bench don't play then.

    Kane, Jesus (TC)

    Ryan, Barnes, Long, Lowton

20 points behind rival, £2.5m ITB. Obvious move is Willian > Sterling but he has Sterling so need a differential. Thinking:

    A) Gross > Arnie
    B) Gross > Ramsey (if Arsenal get dumped out tonight)
    C) Gross > Son
    D) Willian > Eriksen
    E) Morgan > Mawson
    F) Other?

Christensen - Probably play once but could keep a CS

Willian - Will play once but could get some attacking returns
Barnes - Only one fixture, good form but can see Arsenal keeping Burnley quiet

        Who's your 5th midfielder?

I've got Cook so I'm looking at Barnes > Ayew

Have Mahrez, Morgan and Willian. Ditch 2nd and 3d for a hits.
Keeping Mahrez because he must finally deliver (assist at least) and in this case it will be hard for any mid to outscore him by +4 points.

Morning! Trying to catch a 35 point lead ML rival so was wondering what's best to punt on to reduce this week.

    *Differential

    DDG*
    Cresswell* | Dummett* | Robertson*
    Son* | Arnie* | Sterling | Salah
    Vardy* | Kane | Jesus

    Hennessey | Lowton* | Long* | Milivojevic

    0FT, 0ITB

Made FT with Groß to Arnie.

I'm thinking of doing something like:
    Robertson to Naughton
    Salah to KdB/Hazard/Eriksen

This would leave enough ITB to get Salah back for free in 38.

Another note is TC will be active - thoughts on who?

Rival will play BB, though at current only has 9 DGW players.

    Thoughts muchly appreciated.

    Thanks
