The first of six extra fixtures in Double Gameweek 37 gets underway tonight as Swansea and Southampton go head-to-head in a crucial relegation battle at the Liberty Stadium.

From a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) perspective, Jordan Ayew and Dusan Tadic were the main draws ahead of last Friday’s deadline.

Both will be looking to atone for weekend blanks against Bournemouth and Everton respectively.

The fifth most bought player, Ayew earned over 145,000 new owners on the back of five goals in 14 starts under new manager Carlos Carvalhal.

With each of his last three strikes arriving at home, the Swansea striker welcomes a defence that have mustered just two clean sheets in their last 16 road trips.

Ayew was captained by 5,915 FPL managers for Double Gameweek 37, with 126 playing their Triple Captain chip.

Meanwhile, Tadic was eighth for transfers in (107,000+), having supplied three goals and 27 points in three appearances prior to the draw at Goodison.

Just 1,829 have handed the Saints’ playmaker the armband, yet he’s proven more popular than Ayew for the Triple Captain chip, backed by 206 FPL managers.

Mark Hughes’ men have scored in four of their last five – including two goals against both Chelsea and Arsenal – and will face a defence with two shutouts in 12 attempts.

There’s good news for the 19,000+ who drafted in frontman Charlie Austin for Southampton’s pair of fixtures as he’s handed a third successive league start by the new man in charge.

        I have one FT.

I have two options for GW38. Dont know which option to go with.

        1. Tosun=Giroud
        Vertongon=Hegazi

        2. Tosun=Giroud
        Salah=Erikson

I am thinking of Giroud as he might be a differential to my rival in my league. Don't see Salah doing anything in the last GW

        What are your thoughts.

    De Gea
    Alonso - Vertonghen - Lowton
    Son - Willian - Sterling - Salah - Arnatutovic
    Jesus - Vardy
    (Ryan - Barnes - Naughton - Long)

Early thoughts. have 0.4 itb, and one free transfer. Anyone worth a punt for last GW?

Had completely forgot that Zaha and Willian are the same price! Wonder if West Brom at home will be an easy fixture or not. Guess WB being relegated already makes for a more open match.

Ridiculous Gabbi stat, (courtesy of the BBC match report):

Gabbiadini's goal was just his fifth in his last 41 games for Southampton in all competitions, one fewer than he managed in his first four games for Saints.

Outside the top 6, Palace have had the most amount of touches in the penalty box this season.

They have also attempted the 2nd highest number of take-ons this season, behind United.

No wonder Milivojevic has scored 7 penalties.

If they'd had Zaha fit all season and not had the failed Frank de Boer experiment (remember that?), they'd be challenging Burnley for the Europa league spot.

I'm planning to use my FT to upgrade one of these this GW, 0.3m ITB

    Morgan (SV 4.4m)
    Cedric (SV 4.7m)
    Kenedy (SV 4.8m)
    Murray (SV 5.9m)

I was planning to get J.Ayew, is he still my best option despite his double blank this GW ?

There's a weird rule with classic leagues, where hits in gw before a phase (month) starts don't count.

You cannot say they WILL clean. West Brom may still have the desire to put on one last farewell performance for the travelling fans, I can't see Darren Moore putting out a team that doesn't want to win.

Meanwhile Burnley should look to bounce back from that 5 nil defeat, they had to leave everything open against Arsenal and they had to win to have a chance of qualifying for Europa.

If I could pick one on a WC I'd pick Tomkins but it's not worth a transfer just for one gameweek. Much more ambitious moves available than a budget defender swap

Have a couple of dilemmas for GW38:

    1) Play DDG (WAT) or Hennessey (WBA)? Really fancy a Palace cleanie, and is a nice differential.

    2) Do we think Burnley will keep a cleanie v Bournemouth? Have double Burnley D and thinking about using my FT to get in a defensive punt.

I'd still go DDG unless you need a punt to chase.
I'm likely going to have to play double Burnley and am not confident. Seems like the kind of game Bournemouth suddenly decide to wake up for unnecessarily.

yes you need to take Barnes out as he's injured. and / or sell Willian for Zaha. no Kane would still be a worry if he is playing Leicester. don't mean to spook you but can see him overtaking you as has a better squad for final GW.

    Zaha or Ramsey for 38?

I'd say it's a debate between Zaha or Arnautovic.

Reasons to not go Ramsey: Arsenal got nothing to play for, Huddersfield got everything to play for (unless they get something tonight). Huddersfield at home. Uncertainty about Ramsey starting?

Reasons for Zaha: In great form, team in great form, good home fixture, playing up front

Reasons for Arnautovic: Good form, good home fixture, playing up front (most likely).

The final fixture could make a big difference to where Crystal Palace and West Ham finish as well, few points between a bunch of teams there. Arsenal will finish 6th no matter what.

Huddersfield could be fighting for their survival so I would go with Zaha but a lot will depend on tonight’s results

Walcott if you want to be maverick. Final day specialist! 😛

      Zaha out of those surely!

If Chelsea and Huddersfield draw tonight it won’t be good for FPL

Would mean every game is a dead rubber with teams having nothing to play for.

Anyone else had Pickford and Wilson ruin the second half of the season? Both utterly useless 2 point machines for about 10 weeks.

I really need to be ahead by four to cover Salah. Going down to the wire I think.

I like Dr AZ's Andy Carroll punt.

May join him on that if Arnie is out for GW38.

You know it's a bad gameweek when you find yourself actually celebrating that Naughton got you 2 points

    Which move?
    (A) Maguire to PvA/Robertson
    (B) Maguire and Morgan to PvA and Robertson (-4)
