Over the past several seasons, the final Gameweek has repeatedly thrown up a number of surprising results, alongside more than its fair share of goalfests.

In 2016/17, our final day action included a 7-1 trouncing of Championship-bound Hull City at the hands of Spurs (and more specifically, Harry Kane); meanwhile, Chelsea and Man City each hit five goals past Sunderland and Watford, respectively.

Looking further back, this trend continues: 2015/16 saw a surprise 5-1 drubbing of Tottenham at the hands of Newcastle (who entered the game with their relegation already confirmed), while the 14/15 season finale saw Stoke beat Liverpool 6-1 and Leicester beat QPR 5-1.

Even these high-scoring fixtures pale in comparison, however, to the 10-goal showdown between West Brom and Manchester United in 2012/13, which produced a hat-trick for future United frontman Romelu Lukaku in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final match at the helm.

While Gameweek 38 boasts a veritable laundry list of historically memorable fixtures, does the season’s final Gameweek actually result in a greater number of goals than a typical week? And who among this season’s Fantasy crop looks destined for success on the final day?

To explore this question, we dive into the history books to examine final-weekend showdowns over the past handful of seasons.

    Dubravka
    Dummett VanderHoorn Masuaku
    Sterling Son Salah(TC) Eriksen Sane
    Kane Rashford

    McCarthy JAyew Cedric Morgan

I have a 3 point ML advantage on my rival. GTG? Subs right?

do you have one FT? If that's the case then I'd swap Morgan (or Cedric) for TAA. I'd also start with Ayew

      good luck

I don't have a FT as I brought Salah back for Hazard.

I see your point with Ayew but Rashford is starting and I feel he is slightly more likely to score than Ayew. Stoke's set up is always defensive under Lambert. It's close but going with my gut.

Probably a good chance Ayew comes in due to rotation anyway.
Just want Salah to rip it up.

        Thanks for your advice though.

I am 5 points behind the leader (chased down from 50 points a few weeks ago).

He has no Liverpool player so I think that’s my in.

    Do I do:
    1. Alonso -> Alexander-Arnold
    Mikhitarian -> Salah (-4)

    2. Jesus -> Firminho (no hit!)

    3. 1 and 2 for (-8)

No. He's not. Let Ryan rack up save points. Youd only at best get your points back...unless you can spend the additional dosh you'll bank on a better attacker.

I am currently 6 points behind me rival in my league. He still has his bench boost.

    DDG,Fabanski
    Kompany,Smalling,Azpillicueta,Cedric,Vertonghon

      Team is:

      DDG (Ryan)
      Vert Smalling Tark (Lowton Morgan)
      Sterling Son Silva Mili (Cork)
      Kane Jesus Vardy

Not too worried about DDG and Smalling not playing. Ryan and Lowton are decent subs.

Does that 16pts include the -8?
If not you've got big balls making 3 transfers. I'd play it safe and only drop Silva (unless he's returned from spain for the game)

Big week coming up with £200 at stake ... could do with a little advice

      I've currently got :
      Fabski ,
      Long, Arnold-Alex , Azpeculeta
      Son ,Sane, Sterling, Mivilojevic,
      Kane, Jesus, Ayew

I'm really torn on Son and Jesus as they've had bad returns lately but I think Tottenham could possibly turn Leicester over and I don't think Jesus will do much against Southampton but then again, you know when you take them out that they will probably do something so this week is a tough call.

      Do i go:-

      A) Jesus / Son < > Salah / Giroud

      B) Jesus/Son < > Zaha / Firmino

      C) Jesus < > Firminho

      D) Jesus < > Auba

Also, who are you guys picking captain and why?

I was thinking probably Salah if i get him but Brighton haven't been hammered this season and Kane is most likely to get a goal against Leicester but he has looked a bit off since his injury. Firmino is a possible call but im not sure.
