Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have one last chance for mini-league glory as the 2017/18 season comes to its conclusion this Sunday afternoon.

Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane, the top two players in our Captain Poll for Gameweek 38 and rivals for the Golden Boot, both start.

Three goals ahead of the Spurs striker, Salah seeks a tenth double-figure home haul as Liverpool welcome Brighton to Anfield.

Sadio Mane is passed fit to start for the Merseysiders, while Roberto Firmino and Dominic Solanke are also in the XI against a Seagulls’ side that they have already beaten 5-1 earlier in the season.

Meanwhile, Kane collides with a Leicester defence that he’s scored five goals against in their previous two league meetings. However, owners of Dele Alli, Son Heung-min and Ben Davies are left disappointed as all three are named on the bench at Wembley.

Elsewhere, Jose Mourinho is true to his word and makes numerous changes to the Man United teamsheet.

The likes of David De Gea and Chris Smalling are – as their manager suggested – both rested, though there’s no Anthony Martial in the squad to face Watford at Old Trafford, as the Frenchman misses out through injury.

In the blue half of Manchester, Gabriel Jesus is the man to miss out up front, with Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva all starting against a Southampton side with two clean sheets in 17 home matches. Ederson and Kyle Walker are named among the subs, while David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi miss out altogether at St Mary’s.

Arsene Wenger rolls out the big-hitters for his final match in charge of Arsenal, with Alexandre Lacazette flanked by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the trip to Huddersfield.

Eden Hazard and Olivier Giroud are named on the Chelsea teamsheet at Newcastle but there’s no place for Marcos Alonso, who drops to the bench. Eight goals in nine against the Magpies makes Giroud a potentially big differential today.

The most transferred in player for Gameweek 38, Wilfried Zaha is again named up front by Roy Hodgson for Crystal Palace’s clash with West Brom. The Ivory Coast international has delivered 14 points in each of his last two at Selhurst Park.

Finally, Marko Arnautovic is another out-of-position starter who could have a big impact in the final standings.

The Austrian has ten goals and six assists since being moved up front in Gameweek 16 and could prove the difference as David Moyes looks to get one over former club Everton at the London Stadium.

Top 10k possible? Was 14k before GW.

If only I got in PVA and not TAA. 🙁

The emotional highs and lows of FPL: pleased when the player I decided to transfer out for Salah (Silva) didn't make the squad, and the one I kept (Son) did, only to see that the (correct, in my estimation) decision cost me 13 points because Vardy doesn't get off my bench once Son comes on. Oof.

95% skill and 5% luck this game. The luck part got me a bit today. Hope others did well.

Fair. Would you have benched Son instead? I had:

        Salah - Sterling - Arnie - Zaha - Son
        Kane - Giroud - Vardy

It's easy to say that in hindsight - Spurs had only conceded 1 goal in 3 games, and Leicester's form was dreadful (apart from the win against 10 man Arsenal).

Also Spurs played with a very unusual backline since Vertonghen got injured in the warm up

How do you explain the players - like Jay and Ronke and Mark - who consistently do very well, then? They just happen to be very lucky?

        1. Cok3y5murf
          • 9 Years
          8 years, 2 months ago

          I can't because it's my first season as a non-casual so I wouldn't know how I would compare unless I keep playing.

I don't think any of Mark's moves this season surprised or impressed me other than when he got Arnie on his GW32 wildcard. Some of his decisions were baffling like his first WC team.

Ronka finished 22k last season, not that big a deal.

If they're consistent, they're really good at the game, but getting a few more captaincy decisions right is the difference between 5k and 15-20k imo.

I wanted Top 10K for the third season in a row but I'll be closer to Top 30K.
Disappointing, but I had a horrible start to the season and it took me 19 weeks to break into the Top 100K, and I wasted TC on Sterling in DGW 37 and BB only got me 8 points - so it could have gone much, much worse.

Had no real targets this season other than winning minileagues. Made it to the top 100k won 5/7 minileagues and got my highest points ever. So I guess I'm kind of making progress. I'll aim for top 50 k next season but it gets harder and harder with more players playing

Loads of 'skill'. Choosing Ayoze Perez for the last 6 GWs would have been skill (some guy in my ML did this). Or dumping Hazard. Or going Arnautovic and Zaha instead of Alli and Willian

It's still it's down to luck, would you say the same thing if Perez blanked, Hazard scored a hatty and Arnie & Zaha did f all?

You make the move and the rest depends on luck.

Looks like I’ll end up with 74pts. Ranked 15k, any chance of top 10k?
