As expected, the last set of fixtures was poor in terms of the average score, with the Gameweek winner coming in below 100 points for the first time since the blank fixtures.

There were some important lessons learned though, as some strained squads approach the summer break. As Norwegians, we have a rare glimpse of shining sun, and will tone back the previews to more bare essentials this time around with a focus on the key matches.

Gameweek 12 feature matches

Vålerenga – Lillestrøm

(Saturday, 5:00 P.M.)

This traditional Norwegian derby tends to be tough, tight and heavy. With no guarantee of good football the motivation should be high for both sides. Plenty of Fantasy managers are eager to see if Erling Knudtzon will be back in play, and if he will play up front or out wide.

Strømsgodset – Sandefjord

(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)

Strømsgodset have disappointed everyone with their run so far, although there have been glimmers of hope with a series of close calls and woodwork strikes of late. If they can’t get it together against whipping-boys Sandefjord, then we know a turnaround in their fortunes is still some way off.

Rosenborg – Brann

(Sunday, 7:00 P.M.)

Brann started in red hot form and despite a drop off in form they are still finding results to remain undefeated in the league. Hot favorites Rosenborg have had the opposite journey; they are now looking like a top team after a slow start.

If Rosenborg win this game, they will be top of the league for the first time this season. Their attacking threat and home advantage will be needed as a clean sheet may be tricky.

For the hosts Yann-Erik de Lanlay is facing a race to be fit for this game. Rosenborg manager Kåre Ingebrigtsen has stated that de Lanlay will play if fit, implying that there will only be room for one of Søderlund and Bendtner in the starting lineup. If de Lanlay is out for this game, there’s a possibility both will start.

MrKlin says..

Looking ahead we see Sarpsborg 08 and Haugesund entering a great run of fixtures, with some nice options opening up.

For Haugesund, David Akintola should already be in many teams, and with a lighter schedule he can hopefully explode his potential further. Frederik Gytkjær, despite his last penalty landing somewhere in France, is a viable striker for the next four to five Gameweeks. Also look to the defence as Alexander Stølås and Vegard Skjerve sail up as alternative defensive options.

In Sarpsborg it’s harder to find the right picks. Goalie Aslak Falch has well and truly secured the number one shirt and is a shoo-in if you are looking for a keeper now, while Amin Askar splashed onto the scene with out of position play on the left midfield/wing as well as taking set-piece duty. Kristoffer Zachariassen was a pre-season favorite from this team, and has crept into form picking up an assist on the sly in each of his last three run outs.

Bonus info: with Ranheim striker Michael Karlsen suspended on yellow cards, Erik Tønne looks to be the penalty taker of choice as they travel to Bodø.

Johannes says..

Sarpsborg are coming from three back-to-back victories, and have great fixtures coming up. It looks like a good bet to bring in someone from Sarpsborg now. I agree with MrKlin and see Amin Askar as the standout pick at the moment. After having started the season as a full back, it seems like he’s now nailed down the left wing in the team. He’s a defender in the game, and also on a lot of set pieces.

Another Sarpsborg pick I like is Ole Jørgen Halvorsen, who’s currently occupying the right wing. He should be the penalty taker having scored the previous two spot kicks. Both Askar and Halvorsen should be pretty nailed, but with Sarpsborg’s squad depth there’s always a slight chance of rotation. Aslak Falch remains a good goalkeeper pick, and Patrick Mortensen could be a good differential up front as he’s very likely to start every game.

If you haven’t got in David Akintola yet, it might be the time to do so. He’s still red hot, and has good fixtures coming up. In the absence of Christian Grindheim against Tromsø he might be given an even more attacking role behind the striker. An attacking double up with Frederik Gytkjær could be a good differential in the coming weeks, despite the Danish forward skying a penalty against Rosenborg. Another great pick from Haugesund is Alexander Stølås. With four attacking returns already, I think he’ll reward his owners nicely over the next week.

Another team I’m monitoring is Strømsgodset. They have great fixtures, with Sandefjord and Start coming up in the next two, and have shown potential in recent matches, despite not overly impressing. I’ll back Marcus Pedersen to do well as my captain this week, and I personally think Eirik Ulland Andersen will return to form sooner rather than later. Bringing one of them in is a risk though, with a mass exodus from Ulland Andersen likely if he doesn’t return anything and Pedersen is one yellow away from suspension.

Alexander Søderlund deserves a mention. In Niklas Bendtner’s absences he impressed with two goals for Rosenberg, who I back to win against Brann. However, I’m not 100% convinced Søderlund will start. As mentioned only one of Søderlund and Bendtner will start if de Lanlay is fit, and with this being Bendtner’s last game before going to the World Cup I have a feeling he’ll be the one to get the nod. This is only my personal opinion though. If I already had Søderlund I’d play him, but non-owners may be advised to wait until Bendtner leaves for international duty.

Rekdal may be the man in the stand awarding the fantasy bonus points and he likes Vito. His new job at Start is very interesting. He has a reputation for turning teams around and getting a tight defence. Start defenders are looking more interesting at their price.

I noticed that there is Iceland - Norway -match going on so I decided to check the line-ups to see if I recognize any Norwegian players. I open the Flashscore thingy and the first thing I notice is that Johnson has scored?!?! Bl#¤d¤ H#ll! He never scored a goal when I owned him (well 1 goal but let's forget it to make the story more interesting) and now he scores for his country!!! That's intolerable! Threw the computer out of window and then I noticed it was Johnsen who had scored. Oh well.

Haha! Would like to have Maars Johnsen in Eliteserien though, he almost became the top scorer in the dutch Eredivise this season after scoring 19.

It's the right decision. Jensen has been poor all season. Bendtner is a tough one but if you're certain he won't make the first game then there's a chance he might not make the second one either with the games coming thick and fast. He would have been on the plane without the injury.

Yeah, would have been fun to see Bendtner in the World Cup, but that injury probably made things to risky for Hareide to include him in the final squad.

Hows that WC trigger finger holding out?
A freshen up in goal and one forward, one mid and one defender change at most but I like your team, it is well rounded for the next four weeks with minimal tinkering. The Eliteserien pitches are hard on the body so injuries at this time of the year can come at any time.
Teams with good fixtures for the next four weeks are Haugesund, RBK. Brann and Sarpsborg.
Teams with a tough four are Sandefjord and Valerenga.
Expect to see an improvement in Start following the appointment of Rekdal.
Good luck with your deliberations anyway.

    Johnson to:
    A) Gytkjær (fixtures)
    B) Bamba (form)?
Leaning A given they meet sandefjord twice in the next four, would be a double up with Akintola, but form is definitely better with B

I’m on WC and have gone for Gytkjær myself. I’m actually somewhat tempted by Opseth but only really for the next two (and not over Gytkjær).

Bamba does seem good as well but KBK still fairly low in the league. My bring him in for Søderlund if Lord is not away for long.

He is doing exercise at home to keep his fitness and physio to help the injury heal. When he gets back to training with the team the first game back may be off the bench or starting with a cameo at Valerenga.
Really sorry for him that he did not make the WC squad and hoping for a quick recovery. He is not in my eliteserien team atm but I hope to get him back for some points before he gets a transfer out of RBK.

The GW13 preview won't get published in time, so I'll try with a hot topic instead.

Who's your captain this week? Who are you bringing in and who are you selling? Do you have any benching headaches?

A few bits of info (some has been posted before)

      - Broberg should start up front
      - Helland will probably miss out this GW
      - Bendtner expected to be back for GW14 (next GW)
      - Wormgoor should be fit to play after getting a concussion against Rosenborg last GW

Hmm, if Bendtner is back so soon I may dump Søderlund for Bamba on WC.

Gytkjær for cap I think and yes to the benching headache, I don’t even know where to begin!

    3. Onz

Kaptein Akintola I think will be the popular choice this week even an away game at Sandefjord it good.
I am on WC at the moment so have made some big changes. I was not unhappy with my old squad but a change of goal keeper and a freshen up in other positions to move some cash around.
I sold Linde to get 0.5 to spend elsewhere and atm I have Falch but that could change before deadline.
I also sold Asen, Hedenstad and Johnson again to move money around. Asen will probably be back before deadline though.
      0.3 ITB
      McD, Falch
      Wormgoor, Reginiussen, Tollas, Stolas, Skjerve.
      Akintola, Reginiussen, Koomson, Aasmundsen, Afeez
      Soderlund, Pedersen, Mortensen

Playing 433 atm but will change to 442 when I have decided on the two main strikers.
Fixtures are good for Haugesund, Brann, Rosenborg and Sarpsborg. While Sandefjord and Valerenga have it tough for the next four weeks. I am hoping the strikers will start hitting in some points soon and I have Soderlund in case he does OK in the next match before I sell him to use the money elsewhere.
My bench will be just cheep regular players who play each week with little or no rotation planned.

I like it, except for the Tollås pick and the Haugesund double up at the back.

Wouldn't ignore Askar and Tønne. I would get both over Askar and Tønne, their attacking threat is just to good too ignore. Both OOP would probably go Hedenstad or Meling over Reginiussen as well.

Reginiussen is a tough one in midfield. His output is really unsustainable, at the same time he's hard to ignore. Good tweet on him here: https://twitter.com/KroneBall/status/1004354430614016000

Not a big deal, but I do prefer Vetlesen over Afeez at the same price.

          Thanks for the comments. 🙂
Hedenstad and Melling are too rich for my poor team value over Reginiussen who I got for 6.5 at the start of the season. Tollas not in my WC squad atm but still no Askar.
Brother Reginiussen is an interesting one. I hope to pick up a price increase from him before I sell him in a similar way from my Soderlund pick. Soderlund has made me 0.1 just by being in my WC squad and I may sell him before he has played a game for me if I get in before deadline.
Afeez is just bench fodder but he has a really powerful and accurate shooting boot.

      Team this GW:
      Falch
      Woorm-Tønne-Regis
      Akintola-EUA-Regis-Aasmund
      (C)Pedersen-Søder-Skålevik

      Barli-Koomson-Hovland-Haaken

      transfers: Johnson>Pedersen + Åsen>Aaasmundsen (-4)

I did not have the usual benching problem this GW
Koomson is sitting on my bench, risky maybe but 4 assists + 8 bps in 12 matches is not so impressing really
what do you guy´s think ? Is it time for Koomson>Haugen maybe ??

Koomson 4 assist and 8 bonus, but Haugen only have 1 goal, 2 assist and 0 bonus. Both could have had bigger returns, but Koomson have been more unlucky so far. Could really had a few goals.

Personally I would bench Aasmundsen for Koomson, but it's a tough call.

yeah, I know Koomson have better stat´s but I have a feeling Haugen will come good like last season
we really don´t have any standout options in midfield so far this year, except Akintola & M.Reginiussen imo

My team this week, a few benching headaches but that's normal:
      Hansen (Falch)
      Hedenstad, Wormgoor, Ròlanttson, Tønne (Askar)
Broberg, Akintola (k), Rashani, (Reginiussen, Brynhildsen)
      Gytkjær, Pedersen, Skålevik

Benching Reginiussen at home is bold, but could pay off.

I know, just can't work out who to bench for him, possibly Rashani but that doesn't sound right either.

Captain - Akintola atm. Maybe Pedersen.
Sold Johnson for Soderlund. Proved a little hasty given Bendtner situation.

Soderlund has at least one and a half games before Bendtner takes points off him. Johnsons fixtures come good about then so not too bad a plan with your free transfers.

        1. MTPockets
          8 years, 1 month ago

Left enough itb to switch to Bendtner if needs be, and if he stays post-summer.
RBK have generally good fixtures for a while now, so would ideally keep an RBK fwd/attacking mid.

      Linde
      Wormgoor* - Rolantsson - Tønne - Hedenstad
      Åsen - Akintola - Reginiussen
      Søderlund - Skålevik - Pedersen
      (Lenes - Ejuke - Brynhildsen* - Kitolano)

      2 FT 2.3 itb

Captaining... Reginiussen and hope he'll keep beating the odds? The Vålerenga matchup can be tough, though. Akintola is a strong contender, too. Not likely to bring in Gytkjær at this point (but I might).

Linde is going. But for whom? Falch? Hansen? Also contemplating getting an actually playing backup keeper, but will wait for my next WC or a week with less squad issues.

Unsure about Åsen and Ejuke. Søderlund wll get another week, I guess. Also tempted to fit in Askar somehow (possibly by selling Rolantsson, and eventually rotate in Koomson or Haugen at some point, but not sure this is the week).

I feel I need to kick up my line-up a little. It's been more or less like this for the last 3-4 rounds.

Captain Pederson and keeping Wormgoor and Helland in the hope their injuries aren't serious. Any word on those 2?

      Did a -4 this gw

      Søderlund and Saltnes in
      Johnson and Åsen out

Søderlund or Bamba C. Molde is "my club" tho, so it will probably be Søderlund.

      Good luck everyone 🙂

I did Asen to Zachariassen and hope to profit from Sarpsborg's next four relatively kind fixtures.

      Captain Marcus Pedersen. 🙂

Helland is being drilled in the XI as we speak. Bendtner also in training, but not likely to start. Not sure what I'll do with Helland.

    Barli Linde
    Tønne Meling Wormgoor (Askar Kitolano)
    Åsen Akintola Rashani Reginiussen (Helland)
    Bamba (c) Skålevik Opseth

    Should I play Askar?

    1. MTPockets
      8 years, 1 month ago

I'm benching him for basically the same 3 (Hovland rather than Meling).
Would ideally start too but can't see who else to bench instead.

I think I'm playing Askar over Opseth. Askar probably the bigger attacking threat which says a lot about Opseth.

Just Johnson > Gytkjær, rolling one over, can't see a truly compelling reason for spending it this week. Akintola el capitan.

    Bench Johnson or Skålevik?
Also unsure who to captain this week. Between Reginiussen (Ranheim), Akintola or Søderlund. Currently on Akintola.

I'm playing Skålevik! Sold Johnson for Søderlund. Remember that Brann only have let in 1 goal or smth so far this season. Rumor has it that Wormgoor will be ready. Vålerenga isn't too good this year, even though Johnson has been good away.

It's a headache for sure. Probably best to play the home team advantage, benching Johnson for Skålevik.

    Linde
    Hedenstad Wormgoor Tønne
    Aasmundsen Halvorsen Reginiussen Akintola
    Pedersen Skålevik Søderlund

    (Opdal – Askar Nordkvelle Granli)

Shame we cant see his team selection before deadline but thanks for the reminder on his team. Just had a look and he has benched Kongshavn and Nilsen so he is hopping for a good score against them. Mande is a strange pick for him though.
