Fantasy Frogball World Cup

Fantasy Frogball is a community tournament for the World Cup 2018 Fantasy game. This article is a place for banter and questions regarding the tournament, without irritating the other thousands of people that use this website.

Rules

Points Scoring

Your score is made up of your three members Fantasy team Gameweek scores combined. You will go head-to-head with a different nation every week, in the same set up as World Cup 2018. Like the actual tournament, a win will earn your team three points, a draw one, and a loss zero.

Group Placings

In the group, points ties are decided by overall point difference, which is decided like goal difference. The top two teams from each group will go through to the next round.

Ties

Ties will be decided by whichever team has the highest single points scorer of the six members across two teams – if these are tied it goes to the second highest scorer, and so on.

      Thanks for the offer but I’m sorting GW3 later today then I should be more able to keep it updated - life has been more hectic than expected over the last two weeksso Frogball has had to take a back seat.

          My other piece of advice here from experience. Taking 30secs to copy and past the standings at the end of each round into excel saves a load of grief, even if you dont have the time to process the data there and then.

    Stupid question: Do I have to do anything after activating the maximum captain chip? It doesn't look any different as it did with bb (and I can still change captains).

    FROGBALL KNOCKOUTS

    Sorry for this being my first update on this page but life has been busier than expected. After a highly competitive group stage, we have the 16 teams that progress through to the knockout stages. Switzerland, Colombia, Denmark and Spain are the only teams left unbeaten in the competition and will undoubtedly take some stopping! Best of luck to all of those remaining in the competition as it continues to heat up and commiserations to all those that didn't make it through.

    The fixtures are on the spreadsheet but I'll publish them here too -

    Russia vs Iran
    Denmark vs Iceland

    Switzerland vs Germany
    Belgium vs Japan

    Egypt vs Spain
    France vs Argentina

    Serbia vs South Korea
    Panama vs Colombia

    Sad to see that in the fantasy football world at least, football isn't coming home. Two Asian sides and one African side are through, putting their footballing counterparts to shame and we have two real world fixtures being played out in the fantasy world - Belgium vs Japan and France vs Argentina.     And so the Inquisition’s unbeaten run comes to an end at the hands of Egypt. Rihanovic put in a MotM performance to ensure than Egypt were victorious by 3 pts (157-154).

    FROGBALL LAST 16 RESULTS

    This week's scores have seen all 4 previously unbeaten sides knocked out at the first time of asking. An incredible 186 points from the 3 Iran players was the standout performance of the week and they have to have put themselves amongst the tournament favourites. The quarter final games are as follows -

    Iran - Iceland
    Germany - Belgium
    Egypt - France
    Serbia - Panama

    We may have lost the match, but we won the hearts in the tourney! 😎

    It was so close against Egypt that we were winning until Mina scored the 90th minute header and we lost our two differential CS!

    I would like to take this opportunity to thank my Spain teammates Bear and Klopptomist!

    And then there were 4! Another unpredictable week of World Cup football has produced more unpredictable results, with last weeks highest scorers Iran being unceremoniously dumped out by Iceland. Belgium took on the mantle of being this week's highest scoring team with 165 and Egypt and Serbia both won their close ties over France and Panama. The semi finals are -

    Egypt - Serbia

    FROGBALL SEMI FINALS

    We have our finalists! Only 8 points combined seperated the 4 teams in an incredibly tight round. Belgium beat Iceland by 6 points, meaning they now hold the longest unbeaten streak in the tournament having not been beaten since their 2 point GW1 loss. Serbia can consider themselves very unlucky to have lost by just 2 points, putting in a very strong performance, but Egypt march on in support of their king (Salahlahlah). Best of luck to both Belgium and Egypt in the final and being from England I can commiserate with how the losing semi-finalists will feel - congratulations on some fantastic performances!

    Congratulations to Reyno1, Rihanovic and ALGERIA-AZ79 of Egypt, who emphatically won the Fantasy Frogball World Cup tournament by 162 points to the 148 of Melvinmbabzi, Sean and Brooksyp's Belgium side. Well done to all of those who competed and a special mention to Brooksyp, who topped the Frogball league and finished 175th overall. I'll send an email to Geoff shortly 🙂
