Peru and Denmark meet in the third of four matches on a packed Saturday of World Cup action. Kick-off in Saransk is at 5pm.

Selected by 9% of Fantasy managers in the McDonald’s FIFA game, Christian Eriksen (£9.0m) is the most widely owned asset on show in this Group C encounter.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was in scintillating form during World Cup qualification, scoring on 11 occasions and assisting a further three goals.

Eriksen took 71 corner-kicks in qualifying, some 33 more than the second-most active corner taker (Kevin De Bruyne) among UEFA nations.

The fact that Peru conceded more chances from set plays than any other South American or European country during qualification bodes well for Eriksen’s chances of posting a sizeable points haul.

Kasper Schmeichel (£5.0m) and Andreas Christensen (£5.0m) are owned by 5% and 3% of Fantasy managers respectively: the fact that Denmark have not conceded a single goal in their last four friendly internationals would explain the investment there.

Christian Cueva (£6.0m) is the only Peru player to be owned by more than 1% of those playing McDonald’s FIFA. The penalty-taking attacking midfielder scored on four occasions and assisted as many goals during qualification, with corner-taking duties part of his appeal to Fantasy managers.

Paolo Guerrero (£7.5m), Peru’s all-time top goalscorer, is free to play in Russia this summer following the temporary suspension of his drugs ban.

Guerrero had more headed attempts from set-piece situations in qualifying than any other forward in South America or Europe.

The 1% of Fantasy managers who own the striker will be disappointed to see his name only among the Peru substitutes, however.

Like today’s opponents, Peru’s defence has been in solid form in their five most recent international friendlies, conceding only one goal in that quintet of fixtures (four of which were against teams playing in the 2018 World Cup).

Feels like a different sport. Like something from US. Lots of breaks.

Players get more cautious celebrating as there may be a changed decision 10 seconds later.

          • 10 Years
          7 years, 10 months ago

I think if your biggest gripe is that player will be more cautious when celebrating then you're probably in favour of it deep down.

Not that many breaks, just 2 or 3 less than 30 second breaks?

Lads, I'm a huge football fan (and watch more than most) and have always thought that Messi is slightly overhyped and Ronaldo slightly underhyped by my friends, fellow football fans, etc. The two players of this generation no doubt, equally brilliant in their own right, but I know who I'd prefer to go to war with!
