Brazil and Switzerland bring the curtain down on day four of the 2018 World Cup as they meet in Rostov in the evening kick-off.

The Selecao boast the three most-owned players in McDonald’s FIFA: Marcelo (£6.5m), Neymar (£12.0m) and Philippe Coutinho (£9.0m).

A whopping 44% of Fantasy managers have bought Marcelo – no player is more widely owned – who scored a goal and recorded two assists in qualification and was on target in the November friendly win over Japan.

Neymar, selected by 33% of those playing McDonald’s FIFA,  was directly involved in 15 of Brazil’s goals during World Cup qualification and has scored on a further three occasions in subsequent friendlies.

Only Paolo Guerrero (19) of Peru had more attempts from set-play situations than Neymar (16) in CONMEBOL qualifying.

The 29% of Fantasy managers who own Coutinho will be heartened by his goal in the 10 June friendly win over Austria. The Barcelona playmaker scored on four occasions and set up two goals in qualification, despite only starting eight of Brazil’s matches.

Gabriel Jesus (£9.0m), Brazil’s top goalscorer during qualification, carries the hopes of just 12% of Fantasy bosses, despite being some £3.0m cheaper than Neymar.

Switzerland’s attack-minded full-back pairing of Ricardo Rodriguez and Stephan Lichtsteiner (both £5.5m), who scored six goals between them during qualification, are owned by 2% and 1% of managers respectively.

Hopes will be high for plenty of goals in this Group E encounter: Brazil scored at a rate of 2.3 goals per match during qualification, while Switzerland scored 24 goals in 12 qualifying fixtures – an average of exactly two goals per match.

Brazil’s backline, however, is uncharacteristically mean: the Selecao have not conceded a single goal in their last five friendly internationals (despite facing the likes of Germany, Croatia and England) and their defence was the best in South American qualification (11 goals conceded in 18 fixtures).

The Selecao have a new-found strength in set-play situations, too: four of Brazil’s goals in their six most-recent friendlies were scored directly from corners.

How are you guys doing ?

Dreadful here. Just 27 point so far, with Kaku, J.Rod, Pickford, Meunier, Mojica and Honda to come.

    Coutinho (c) - 14 pts

    Would you rather:

    A. Switch to Lukaku/James Rodriguez on final two days of the round
    B. Stick

    How is my WC team?
    Muslera uzoho
    Carvajal kimmich guerrero danilo varela
    Isco draxler layun A.Ndiaye gazinsky
    Messi kane salah

    Will play 523 likely
    Any suggestion?
Have some doubt about salah vs costa
If I chose costa then I have to change isco and there is not good mid options

Why not both? Also I really really think Uruguay forwards are necessary. Saudi Arabia are the worst team at this tournament by a lot. Suarez could hit a hat-trick easily.

Honestly they has few chances last game
Suarez had better opportunities but so expensive and kane vs panama is better imo

Suarez had at least 2 or 3 through-on-goal moments even though he had a poor game. Both Saudi Arabia and Russia are worse than Egypt too.

Think longer term too. If you pick Kane you'll have him for the 3rd game as well because no more WC. Do you prefer Kane for PAN + BEL or Suarez for KSA + RUS?

Russia is not that bad and they are host
I can sell kane after panama game
            Maybe even for suarez
But then there are likes of mbappe and aguero
For suarez, saudi match is easy I agree but panama is lot easier

Planning to sell Kane is risky. You have no idea what might come up to change the situation and could be stuck with him. You seem really determined to not have either URU forward even though logically they're the best team to back for the last two weeks fixture wise. I mean, who knows, it's all so crazy maybe it works for you. I know that my priority this week though will be to get a URU forward.

Any of these transfers (for a hit) worth it?

    A. Saudi keeper -> Ochoa
    B. Paulinho -> Muller/Isco

      None.

There must be more pressing concerns. Do you have URU forward? Spain coverage?

Transfering out Ziyech or Cueva not that smart seeing as so many penalties being given this year and both are takers. Meza played quite well and is cheap.

Pavard maybe a risk so maybe Pavard > Akanji would be my pick of those 5. But there must be a better option somewhere else. James Rodriguez > Isco?

Fantasy Football Scout Daily Hot Topic

How is your World Cup Fantasy side doing so far?

With Mexico’s shock win over Germany, Brazil being held by Switzerland, and Argentina being held by Iceland, has your Fantasy score suffered? Or are you one of the lucky ones to nail a captaincy?

Ronaldo wasn’t in very many RMTs on site before the World Cup started – did anyone end up bringing him in?

With captaincy scores being low and big hitters playing today and tomorrow (Lukaku, Kane, Rodriguez, Lewandowski) are you planning to switch your captain again? What's your strategy when your captain scores 6 points?

    1. Chandler Bing
      • 10 Years
      8 years, 28 days ago

Didn't have anyone from Germany and Argentina. However, I did have Paulinho and considering that he did play very well, I am content.

Haven't nailed a captaincy yet but really optimistic with Lukaku's chances today and the current score of 35 is something I'm okay with ATM.

Not great - Werner, Mbappe and Isco app drew blanks and were my captain picks for those rounds. And locelso didn’t play.

Need some help with this one Werner for Cavani or Mbappe + LoCelso for Cavani and Layun (-4)?

Team is doing awful, like Zouma, I have Meza, Varela, and Greizmann returns only. 27 points total.

Regarding captain, I judge it on potential of the other options available, and having Lukaku I feel even Greizmanns 8 points can be bettered against Panama.

Horrificly. But I don't really think I picked too poorly. Just very bad luck. Two missed penalties from Messi and Cueva. At this point with captain, I'll take 6.

Could've had some more luck, but a Uruguay defence with Pogba Griezman and Eriksen has done me well, can't get too greedy.

I'm hppy with my score . My team's highest scorer is Golovin who is also my captn. Thngs are gd so far.

I thnk m not bringing Ronaldo in my team. Morocco's defnce is looking gd and they'll defnce evn harder against portugal. I'll go fr Cavani becoz KSA looked vry weak

Been screwed this round, I had Griezzman captain, thought Muller might produce something special vs Mexico.. 1 point. FFS

      Griezzman - 8
      Gazinsky - 8
      Godin - 6

      Rodrigues - 2
      Cavani - 2
      Lloris - 2

      Rodrigues - 1
      Muller - 1
      Hegazy - 1

Will need a big recovery from here. but usually with WC fantasy, the knockouts is where big movements are made.

      Captains so far:

      Al Dawsari 2
      Isco 2
      Messi 0
      Coutinho 7

Will be twisting to Lukaku today - last throw of the dice.

I made an absolute last minute switch by bringing in Griezmann and Dalsgaard, and then luck followed.

With 41 points, I’m gonna stick with Griezmann(c) because an 8 point return is great in WC fantasy because there are no bonus points involved.

A Lukaku brace would only gain me 2 more points if I captain him and it would be too nervy to captain James on the final day of Round 1 as a double attacking return would be required at least.

However, for those who have a 6 point return from their captains, like Eriksen, they can afford to twist because you can expect at least a goal from the remaining big hitters to break-even the captaincy points.

Terrible... None of my players has scored more than 2... My big hitters were Mueller, Cavani, Neymar, Kimmich, Danilo... I still have Lukaku (c), Meunier and James who can make my first round less bitter but that's still gonna be awful

Doing really well. Top 30k and managed to climb rank yesterday despite only having the. Serbia keeper and Rodriguez. Brazil and Germany struggling has left me in what looks a great position. I have Lukaku and Meunier for Belgium and then Lewandowski and James tomorrow. I also have the Sweden defender in today's early game.

      Pretty uninspiring.
44 (38 after subs) with Lukaku, Meunier, J'hames and Inui to play.
Stuck on captaincy with Griezmann's 8.
Coutinho 7, Varela 6, Meza 4 and Cueva's (unfortunate) 2 the only others of note.

Success, Golovin Cap has not moved. Kaku and Meunier added pts to an Eriksen assist. Happy with 55 pts and hopefully something in the last games. Nice after an abysmal FPL season last.

Had the worst gameweek 1 ever - really not sure round one could have gone much more wrong! You will like this:

      Muslera 7pts

      Cedric 1pt - danilo 2pts - stones 2pts - meunier 5pts

      Blaszczykowski (c) 2pts - rodriguez 0pt - mueller 1pt

      Jesus 2pts - farfan 2pts - messi 0pts

      Bench boost

I think SA will not play the same against Uruguay as they did against Russia. Deffo want one but is two overkill? I’m starting to like Guedes as a cheaper forward and giving more cash for 5 strong midfielders

    For Round 2 -

    I have -

    Lloris (vs Peru)
Godin (vs KSA) Meunier (vs TUN) Rodriguez (vs Serbia) Hegazy (vs Russia)
C Rodrigues (vs KSA) Y Gazinsky (C) (vs EGY) Carrasco (vs TUN) Muller (vs SWE)
Griezzman (vs PERU) Cavani (vs KSA)

    Bench
Uzoho (vs ICE) Asensio (vs IRA) C Zapata (vs POL) Falcao (vs POL)

I have the one free transfer, and i'm thinking Zapata out for Nacho (vs IRA)

Is it worth playing the Wildcard now or no?

Not worth a WC, just take out one of the players you think won't play with your FT and you're good to go.

    1. CellinoArmy

Cavani was brilliant, but he didn't get the chances Suarez got. Uruguay's team definitely focussing their attack on Suarez, but Cavani produced 3 on a plate for Suarez. Big thing for Cavani will be Suarez firing alongside.

I'd keep Cavani if I had him. Uruguay should've had 4 goals with Cavani scoring 2 and assisting 2.

Yes and he was a AMF battling for ball at the center of the pitch

Cavani played very well from a footballing perspective. Linked the play between midfield and attack (well Suarez), but not so good as a fantasy option. He was rarely in the box himself.

Although with Saudi Arabia next you'd be mad to take him out of your team.

Nacho won't score another goal like that in his life, and he gave away a penalty more importantly.
Carvajal is first choice, but depends if he's fit or not, so it's a big risk bringing him in for Round 2.

Nah, not the goal. The goal was consolation for his mistake which gave portugal the lead anyway. Apparently, Hierro's not keen to risk him apparently, and it's Iran anyway.

I've been screwed this round, I had Griezzman captain, thought Muller might produce something special vs Mexico.. 1 point. FFS

      Griezzman - 8
      Gazinsky - 8
      Godin - 6

      Rodrigues - 2
      Cavani - 2
      Lloris - 2

      Rodrigues - 1
      Muller - 1
      Hegazy - 1

Will need a big recovery from here. but usually with WC fantasy, the knockouts is where big movements are made.

    Eriksen James Ziyach Meza Ljajic

I think WC'ing is a kneejerk. The team still looks sound. I'd only really WC early if I had two injuries/players being dropped.

I'd do like James > Isco or Ljajic > Layun.
