Diego Godin (£5.5m) remains the most popular World Cup Fantasy asset for a third successive Uruguay match, but Denis Cheryshev (£5.5m) is not far behind the Atletico Madrid man.

Their two nations meet today at 3pm BST to decide who will win Group A, while Saudi Arabia and Egypt play out a dead rubber concurrently.

25.1 percent of those playing McDonald’s FIFA World Cup Fantasy have Godin in their squads while Cheryshev’s latest scoring exploits have pulled him up to 19.7 percent ownership.

The Villarreal midfielder was the most transferred player ahead of Gameround 3 earning 175,000+ new owners. His three goals in two matches have made him the most valuable player in World Cup Fantasy averaging 3.6 points per million so far.

There remains interest in Cheryshev’s midfield team-mates too. 12.4 percent Fantasy managers have opted to cover Russia’s attack with the budget-priced Yuri Gazinksy (£4.5m) while 10.9 percent upgraded to the more expensive Aleksandr Golovin (£6.5m), only to see him left out of the starting line-up.

Godin’s popularity stems from Uruguay’s consecutive clean sheets in Russia but also as a result of his sureness of start. Oscar Tabarez  is set to use today’s fixture to experiment with a new 3-5-2 formation after 4-4-2 has made his side look laboured in attack thus far.

Jose Gimenez (£5.5m) and Guillermo Varela (£4.5m) have both missed out due to the switch.

Despite combining for 29 goal involvements in qualifying Luis Suarez (£10.5m) and Edinson Cavani (£9.5m) have found the net just once between them at the World Cup. Accordingly the Fantasy punters have largely stayed away, Cavani with just seven percent ownership and 6.2 percent invested in Suarez.

Just two players have attracted interest in Egypt’s match with rivals Saudi Arabia. Mohamed Salah (£8.5m) is the more fashionable of the two with 12.8 percent ownership, while 10.1 percent have opted to include Ahmed Hegazy (£4.5m) in their squads.

THE STARTING LINE-UPS:

SAUDI ARABIA XI (4-3-2-1): Al-Mosilem; Osama Hawsawi, Al-Burayk, Al-Shahrani, M Hawsawi; Al-Faraj, Hatan, Otayf; Al-Mogahwi, Al-Dawsari; Al-Muwallad

EGYPT XI (4-2-3-1): El-Hadary; Abdel Shafy, Hegazy, Gabr, Fathy; Hamed, Elneny; Trezeguet, Said, Salah; Mohsen.

URUGUAY XI (3-5-2): Muslera; Coates, Godin, Caceres; Laxalt, Torreira, Bentancur, Vecino, Nandez; Suarez, Cavani.

RUSSIA XI (4-2-3-1): Akinfeev; Kudryashov, Kutepov, Ignashevich, Smolnikov; Gazinskiy, Zobnin; Cheryshev, Aleksey Miranchuk, Samedov; Dzyuba.

They didn't. I'm basing all my information on UCL fantasy which uses the same system.

          From UCL fantasy rules:

          Player Prices
Original player prices will remain the same until Matchday 3. Upon completion of this Matchday, player prices will change depending on performance.

With such a short format I can't see them complicating it even further.

We'll see, hopefully they don't change again, cheers for the link.

I lke the way I have I lost 0.1 on Sabaly when he hasn't even been eliminated yet? Game should at least wait till all of Round 3 is complete...might sell Golovin for 0.1 profit though in case they reset it.

      1. Fred54
        • 11 Years
        8 years, 21 days ago

Also make transfers for potential risers, especially those you might actually want for R16 to save a few 0.1s. Although with a budget increase of 5M, that's 50 changes you could take on the chin, so not sure when they will bite ya...I'm gonna assume prices will go up and down 0.1 a day.

        1. 420king
          • 12 Years
          8 years, 21 days ago

It's only based on points, nothing else. Read my post on top of page 12 if you want to know how they were calculated.

            8 years, 21 days ago

            Aye.

Might be worth playing the market right now. Sell any player who did poorly in Round 3 as they may drop further and cash in on anyone you don't want for R16 anyway, like Golovin who rose 0.2 but may drop. Also I'm gonna assume anyone who went up but will be rested for Round 3 might drop in price again.

Having said all that you can take 50 0.1 price changes on the chin with the 5M budget increase so I wonder how long that takes to make an impact. Unless they go crazy and start doing 0.3 changes a day!

      • 12 Years

i think some people are getting a little confused here
the prices will change only once this has already happened
they can't wait until the group stage has finished because that would leave no time for changes before round of 16 starts

Of all the WC casual-tactic blunders...I've got Messi 😮 had planned (full on Brazil) Neymar but was playing around with the GOATs and must've forgotten to switch back before confirming final transfers in a fluster at 14:59:25 🙁 oh well, at least I've got a Day 2 captain 🙄

Decidedly uncomfortable WC, fairly hastily conceived, so not expecting much. Can't decide if I love or hate it... Suarez out has bitten already 🙂
