Already entering Gameweek 15, we are fast approaching the halfway mark in Fantasy Eliteserien and feel we are beginning to understand the main targets. Now, however, is when it all gets thrown together and shaken vigorously. We’ve seen several coaches at the bottom of the league move on, with the likes of Start already showing signs of a turnaround under their new head coach Kjetil Rekdal. Sandefjord have yet to see similar effects, and Lillestrøm and Stabæk sacked their coaches too recently to already see results. With the summer transfer window and European qualifiers looming, the little predictability we thought we had looks set to disappear.

Gameweek 15 feature matches

Brann – Molde
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
Brann look to stay on the winning track and look like the best defensive option in the league. Their avg. goals conceded is incredibly low and defenders look to be prime picks moving forward. Before the season this match was slated as a top match this season but Molde have struggled to keep up. Being a definite rotation hazard, and adding an injury to goalie Andreas Linde, there aren’t many tempting options here. Linde owners looking to move him out could do worse than Brann’s Samuel Sahin-Radlinger as a replacement.

Ranheim – IK Start
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
A game with a twist as these promoted teams go head to head. Ranheim lost the last game badly to Strømsgodset but have high hopes with their strength at home as well as not having a losing streak to their name yet in the league. They play hosts to a re-invigorated IK Start who have seen a turnaround, grabbing 4 points and Cup advancement, since moving out their head coach. We are familiar with the likes of Eirik Tønne and Mads Reginiussen at Ranheim, but we might be able to start looking at IK Start assets such as Kevin Kabran, who was a hot ticket item before the season started, and Mathias Bringaker, a 5.6 forward who looks to have taken the starting spot up top away from Floki Finnbogason.

Sandefjord – Rosenborg
(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)
Another strange one as Rosenborg look to have found some form following their mini vacation, but have to balance that with a horrible injury list. They are left with only 1½ winger on the books, and the herd is also thin in central midfield. Still, they are playing away to Sandefjord, and as we have now  learned we might be able to back anyone against Sandefjord this season.

MrKlin says..

This is the rough part of the season where gaps in the schedules, transfer window, and coach swaps can turn season fortunes around for the teams in action. One has to be savvy and a little bit lucky to predict the impact of all these moves over the GW15-GW20 period, and this makes this period ideal for a little bit of catching up, if you can pick sensibly.

Scout Picks

MrKlin’s picks for Gameweek 15

Sahin-Radlinger
Wormgoor(K) – Tønne – Stølås
Reginiussen – Akintola – Zachariassen – Levi
Bringaker – Pedersen – Bendtner

Not having much success at present:
Transferred out Rashani and Skålevik in last few weeks, scored and two assists respectively.
Moved captaincy from Akintola (scored) to Gytkjær (subbed off at halftime) due to injury doubts.
Double Brann and double Rosenberg defensive fails
    Oh well 😆

Two assists (Stölås), one goal (Akintola), Bendtner captain fail, and no clean sheets -> 25 pts. EUA & Aasmundsen to go.

Cup opponent (dead team) has 15 pts, Linde, Ejuke (C), and Jradi (VC) & Bamba to go. Really hope Ejuke makes a cameo because of Jradi (VC) & Zachariassen first sub 🙂

He should. Juventus bid for him in January. There has been major interested around him the last year or so, after the last two games the interest certainly hasn't cooled off.

U19 Euro's starting soon, could seal a big transfer for Håland. One of Norway U19's major players, even though he's one year younger than the most of the other players. Big tournament for Vetlesen too.

There's a summer break now, so I would definitely wait. I think he'll go personally. He's a starter for Norway in the U19 Euros during the Eliteserien break, a good tournament could seal the deal. Could also get injured, who knows. Definitely wait.

I’ll get a nice price rise regardless. Would be great if he stayed, though. Even Rashford has a hard time getting regular playing time. A lot to be learned by going abroad but he shouldn’t rush into it. Ødegaard a good example of that.

Norway's squad for Euro U19. A lot of familiar Eliteserien names.

Right then, Rosenborg sacking their coach and ass.coach is something of a soap here now. Some highlights:
    - First, that they sacked him NOW (fighting for league gold, quarter finals in the cup, through to 2nd qualifier round in Champions League, playing Celtic in only few days)
    - Coupled with no apparent new coach coming in in a hurry
    - Players released a press brief stating they are opposed to the sacking and have asked the board to reverse it (reversing denied of cource)
    - Assistant coach given word first second hand, then later by the club director in an open office with colleagues in the room

Add to that, there have been none of the expected immediate player signings to strengthen for the CL/EL qualifiers.

    Chaos...

A big mistake imo. The end of the season could have been very different. The results were starting to come but the play was still below standard.
I hope it does not effect the players confidence too much with the big game against Celtic coming up.

Antonio Conte is looking for a job at the moment 😉

Anyone got any lessons learned from FES they're looking to apply to FPL?

I think Salah is overpriced anyway, but having one player who's much more expensive than anyone else in my team certainly hasn't been fun in the case of Helland.

I feel like Palace could be comparable to Tromsø. Perennial relegation battlers but look exciting under their current manager and have cheap options all over the park including several defenders who are attacking threats. Also fancying Sørloth as a third striker.

Also gonna rely less on good fixtures when picking defenders, even when they're from supposedly solid teams. Look for the form.

This season's FES and last season's FPL have made me think I need to show a bit more patience with certain players (mainly mid-price-to-premium midfielders) when I think they're quality and can be involved in their team's attack. Binned off KDB, David Silva, Hestad, Rashani too quickly.

The start of the Eliteserien season was so different to the forthcoming start of the EPL but the strategy can be the same.
I am moving toward a more balanced starting squad with out the really expensive prime players for GW1. In a few game weeks you can then see who is going to fire or fail. Taking hits to get an expensive form player and having some cash in the bank at the season start could be my early strategy.
No Salah for game week one even if he hits a big game week I may only be 20 points off the pace.and he can be brought in easily.
Having place holders for the World Cup players when they return and an early wild card to bring them in is a change for me. I try to play the first WC as late as possible but this time GW4 looks more likely.

I guess there are parallels to starting without Bendtner (who was also 13m) at the start of this season which proved to be the right decision. Positions the same but in Eliteserien I invested more in midfield, in FPL I'm investing more up front.

Bendtner and Helland was nowhere near Salah's level in terms of points though. Basically eliteserien picks are way more unpredictable than FPL picks, for the better and for the worse.

      I have learned that
      - points can come from anywhere
      - having a team with 11 players that can actually get a haul is the way to go
      - avoid budget 2 pointers in your starting 11, they depress you and are generally a waste of budget
      - having a decent bench saves taking hits

From the above, basically forego one premium player and get a 7.0 mill instead, and then strengthen through out your squad with the cash you save

Celtic-Rosenborg on in 20 mins, time to see how much this soap-operah has flaked the team (and for the lot of you to see how far behind Norwegian football is).

Rosenborg lining up presumably best available 11:

    Hansen
Eggen Hedenstad - Reginiussen - Hovland - Meling

    Jensen - Lundemo - Trondsen

    Helland - Bendtner - Levi

Posted this on the main board, but thoughts for it here as well?...

Question for the mods. The last Norwegian article has dropped off the articles list as the article itself was written a while ago, but it is still being commented on (the league's in summer break). This makes it a bit more tricky to find. Could the articles list be changed to only have the latest of each type as, for example, there are currently four community round up articles listed, including two/three about the world cup fantasy football which has now finished? Alternatively could some articles be marked as sticky to stop them dropping off the list for where there are expected continued discussions? Cheers.

Can someone recommend a good link for fixtures and a ‘game difficulty’ checker please?
My old link on fantasyfootballfirst.co.uk looks to be down

Going to be somewhere without internet for next week and a bit so looking to set my team up for next weekend.

    Hansen
    Hedenstad Gili Wormgoor Askar
    EUA Akintola Aasmundsen
    Lord-B Pedersen Gytkjaer

    Kongshavn Reginussen Tonne Ifeez

Got 2FT and would prefer not to burn one. Thinking of moving on Gytkjaer or Regi, anyone have an early tips or recommendations?

Awkward without internet but if possible would wait until last minute to assess Molde and Håland. They've picked up a few decent players in the break and may keep this form going.

Cheers, may try for Gytkjaer to Haland if it looks like he is staying (there was lots of chat of big clubs snapping him up).

G has been a bit of a nightmare since I brought him in as well!

Lots of talk but still there and still scoring in EL, Eur U19s... I'll be getting him if he stays and/or maybe Hestad or another. Not sure though whether the transfer window ends when next gw starts.

Eliteserien window closes 15th August - after GW18 (2 new game weeks in).

I just use the search facility and search for eliteserien and then pick the latest topic and tread.

Just tell us whether we should get in håland or whether he's going to be sold 😆

Looks like he's going. Bid from Salzburg and not in their squad for current EL game.

Any thoughts on my team, 2FTs and 1.0 itb, been slipping down the rankings recently though:

    Hansen (Falch)
    Wormgoor, Sørensen, Hedenstad, Askar, (Tønne)
    Akintola, Broberg, Aasmundsen (Regi, Brynhildsen)
    Lord, Gytkjær, Pedersen (k)

    Cheers

Not sure. Maybe you can get Stølås in there? And M Reginiussens time is over now, I think.

I'd do Gili --> Stølås after this gw.

Looks like Falch is done as an option with the new GK starting and keeping a cleanie last evening.
