Set-pieces are still proving important for World Cup Fantasy managers as we head into the quarter-finals.

Once again, we’ve pulled together all the relevant data so Fantasy Football Scout members can work out which nations are the best to invest in for the next round.

At this stage, it looks like England and Brazil are the most likely to score from set-piece situations in the quarter-finals, based on their respective match-ups while Croatia and Russia both look susceptible to balls into the box.

READ NEXT: Our transfer tips and stats for the World Cup Fantasy quarter-finals

Our research includes the penalty and corner-takers for each country, based on who has taken them either in Russia or, in some cases, in qualification. If there is no number next to a player’s name it’s because they took at least one in qualifying and/or warm-up games but are yet to take one at the World Cup itself.

We’ve also calculated which teams concede the most fouls and attempts from set-plays too to help you work out which nations are the most likely to get set-pieces in the first place.

To clarify, the ‘Attempts from set plays’ section combines those who have shot from direct free-kicks or those who have latched onto the end of a corner.

The deadline for Gameround 5 is at 15:00 BST on Friday July 6, so make sure you sort your team in time.

World Cup Data

We’re delighted to offer World Cup data as an early addition to our regular season offering to help those playing Fantasy games over the summer.

We’ve secured Opta data, not only for the tournament itself, but also from the Qualifying Rounds for Europe and South America and for international friendlies involving the participating nations. This includes all the matches played right up to the tournament kick-off.

Just to stress, this World Cup offering comes packaged with the regular Fantasy Football Scout membership.

Makes me weary of bringing in someone like Pavard, or Rakitic. Even if they go through it’s not a guaranteed player for the next round.

Thinking the same. But is it worthy to move 3xCRO 2xBRA to 2xCRO 3xBRA?
I feel Croatia's probability of progressing is higher, right?

And also, Willian is more likely to be subbed during the game for D. Costa or something like that than Rakitic. And Rakitic has the free kicks...

Nope, cos then you could booked in QF and semi and miss final. Albeit, this does encourage cynical yellows in the dying stages of a semi final.

The Sky game can build a really good team, the only issue is the captaincy, assembling great attackers is fairly easy:
    Dubravka
Bennett (Car) Morrison (Car) Boly (Wol)
Mane Sane Jota (Wol) Cavaleiro (Wol)
    Aguero Salah

and I still have 12.2 M to splash on someone like De Bruyne.

Having really cheap (nailed on) defenders is often a good way to go so double Cardiff (with good fixtures) is a nice strategy. I'm a Wolves fan and I can see no better attacking midfielders than Jota and Cav in the price range (maybe Pererya, Bolasie or Deulofeu could be exceptions).

  17. Robbie Slater

Surely this is the best time to play max captain (if you still have it). Only two days of captain choices for every round now anyway, and at least there are chances teams could potentially haul this round - thinking Croatia and England have not the worst fixtures, and Brazil v Belgium could be goals galore. Into the semis and final round, games will be very tight and less potential for players to explode?

Why is everyone saying keep it for semis/final?

Potentially, but also a lot of second choice players will get a run out so could be tricky getting a team/predict who will do well

You can to a degree still predict a haul now (Neymar, Kane, etc.). Later on, there will probably be some defenders, unexpected people hauling.

      1. Robbie Slater
        • 9 Years
        8 years, 1 month ago

Sort of backs up my point. Would rather play it now surely and hope the big players do well in easier matches.

Not to keen playing it later hoping a defender gets a clean sheet, or someone unexpected hauls - harder to predict and therefore harder to have them in your team

I think there is no right or wrong answer! If you are happy with your 2 day captaincy picks, Neymar + Kane for example, then maybe consider saving it! If you cant decide on a day one captain, prob best to use it this round!

odds are probably with using it now though like you said, there are four games and a better chance of one of them being very high scoring than in the SFs or F!

Got a front 3 of Kane Hazard Lukaku

Would you be looking to lose one of the Belgians for Mbappe?

        Can’t afford without a hit I’m afraid 🙁
Am tempted by Mbappe but then that Uruguay defence...

Kane to win golden boot is 1.4.

    Easy money.

Good shout, there's no real competition:

Lukaku (4 goals) - probably knocked out vs Brazil
Dzyuba (3 goals) - probably knocked out vs Croatia
      Cavani (3 goals) - injured
Mbappe (3 goals) - not on pens, will probably face Brazil in the semis if France go through

How many fillers are you going with?
Atm I'm on 1 - Svensson (4.3m mid from Sweden).

I don't really see the point in spending 5m on Bentancur as he's a yellow away from a ban, and will probably get knocked out.

    1. stat
      8 years, 1 month ago

I also think Sweden will be knocked out but at 4.3 you're hardly wasting that much

In case he get points, like the last time?

      1. stat
        8 years, 1 month ago

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I downgraded Bentancur to Svensson in order to fund Pavard -> Hernandez.
Even though Pavard scored, Hernandez looked better going forward in terms of chance creation, and Pavard is 1 YC away from a ban.

I wouldn't be any way sure that France will beat Uruguay! Bentacur is great value but the yc is a worry for sure. The only filler I have atm is Granqvist but he could prove to be the opposite of a filler yet!

      1. stat
        8 years, 1 month ago

        I have him too but I don't consider him a filler. He's 5.2M and he's on pens

    Does this look ok?

    Subasic - Sommer*
    Miranda - Pavard - Lovren - Meunier - Pavard
    Coutinho - Modric - Claesson - Isco* - Quintero*
    Kane - Lukaku - Costa*

    Costa -> Mbappe
    Isco -> Lingard
    Quintero -> Golovin

In Mc D’s was planning on gettting cheapos for my bench but you can’t transfer in eliminated players. Is this correct or am I doing something

Looking for advice please, I still have WC left.

If I use 3 FT I can have the below and save WC for Semis:

    MBappe / Kane / Lukaku
    Modric / Lingard / Couthinho / Claesson
    Trippier / Miranda / Lovren
    Courtois

Bench: Olsen / Bentancur / Granqvist / Ramos

I know Ramos is expensive to have as wasted bench for now, but the 3 players I've transfers is Costa (for Mbappe), Isco (for Modric) & Quintero (for Bantancur).

    orrrr, should I Wildcard now?

    Thanks in advance!!
