Gregor’s RMT

Gunn/McCarthy, Fabianski
VVD, Bailly, Mendy, Cook, Wan-Bissaka
Salah, Silva, Mahrez, Mkhitaryan, Ward
Firmino, Zaha, Mitrovic.

Goalkeepers
Two great value looking goalkeepers for £9m with perfect home and away rotation and good home fixtures to start the season. If there’s doubt over the Southampton number one though I may get Foster and bring Cedric in as my £4.5m defender.

Defenders
I’ve gone with van Dijk over Robertson due to slight concern around Robertson missing the odd game around Champions League ties, if Liverpool get a tough group.

Bailly seems assured to start the season and no reason to think he won’t then keep his place. £5.5m to cover United’s defence looks too good to miss.

Mendy looks underpriced due to previous injury problems, cheaper than Walker and should be good for assists.

What I like about Cook is that he’s very bench-able as you don’t expect much from a Bournemouth defender, but he has the potential to produce when called upon and also offers perfect home and away rotation with Wan-Bissaka, who looks a no brainer for bench fodder at £4m – nice fixtures too.

Midfielders
Salah, the obvious GW1 captain, and I (hope) expect Liverpool to make a strong start before the fixtures stiffen.

Mahrez is nice and rested and Silva looks a great price for a guy seemingly nailed on before the family problems, and City’s fixtures from GW’s 2-7 make a City triple up seem entirely sensible.

Mkhitaryan could be an absolute steal at £7m. Tough opening fixtures but just can’t ignore a player of this quality at that price though.

Cardiff’s Danny Ward as £4.5m bench fodder, subject to change; he has a goal threat which is unusual at this price point, and easy to bench as you would expect Cardiff to struggle.

Forwards
Bobby Firmino up top to further tap into the Liverpool attack, with strong early fixtures and a nice price. I’d be surprised if he’s not fit to start GW1.

Zaha, the Palace talisman with pre-season form and strong early fixtures. I do worry he might move though so also got my eye on Tosun for this slot.

Mitrovic just edges out Austin for my third striker slot for now due to surety of starts, funded by trading Sane for Mahrez. Have always liked Mitrovic and should continue to thrive at Fulham now he’s the main man.

Conclusion

Thoughts? Suggestions? Where have I gone wrong, and where have I gone right? What do you suggest I change?

See lots of people picking Mahrez, will he start most games though?

the truth is no one really knows, i want to get him in, however pep usually brings his new attacking players through slowly, (Sane Silva Jesus Gundogan) all started on the bench when they first arrived, although the world cup may give him a better chance, wait for the community shield and see who he picks and where

Looks likely for early weeks at least. Sterling no chance of starting GW1 to RW spot is Mahrez's at least initially. Then there's major doubts about Sane after everything Pep has been saying and the limited minutes he's had in pre season despite being 1 of about 3 senior players in pre season so Mahrez could nail down a spot for a while

I'm not sure about double Arsenal coverage up front - they looked during pre-season but still is a question mark under transformation and new manager.

the Defence maybe a little weak as their is a chance Daniels will lose his place at GW4, if rotated well they could do really well though. Midfield looks strong and that front 3 after GW2 could do well. personally id take Firmino as he does really well with Bonus points and works well with Liverpool main 3.

Would prefer to have Mane instead of Sane, but it's up to you. Also offence looks too risky to me. Lacazete could be substitute and Arnie has tough fixtures.

Messing around with Salah and Kane teams:

    Begovic | Boruc

    Robertson | Luiz | Tomkins | Peltier | Wan-Bissaka

    Salah | Mahrez | Richarlison | Mkhi | 4.5m

Kane | Laca | Ings (if he moves)

    Thoughts please?

Bit stuck between two teams at the minute, any thoughts appreciated.

    Ederson (Stek)
Robertson Mee Tomkins (Doherty Wan Bis)
    Salah Erikson Mane Cairney (Ward)
    Aguero Arnie Zaha

    Fab (Foster)
Mendy Van Dijk Bailly (Doherty Wan Bis)
Salah D Silva Mahrez Richarlison (Ward)
    Firmino Arnie Zaha

First more nailed starters and can switch Aguero/Mane for Firmino/DBruyne when starting but second much better balanced. Thanks for any help!

I prefer first one - the reason is I believe it's good to have one premium striker. Especially that you have double Liverpool coverage (Salah, Mane) you don't need Firmino.

Cheers, yeah think I’m leaning that way. Having an expensive striker does give more flexibility when Kane comes good

Quite close but overall I prefer first team, as mentioned above think its good to have a premium striker slot for team structure - Aguero can become Auba or stretch to Kane much easier than the cheaper options.

Personally I think you would get better value downgrading one of Arnie/Zaha to improve a 5th mid or 4th defender and playing 442 or 352. But that just my opinion so if you'd prefer 343 then go for it.

  5. Edwards123

I’m finally quite happy after a lot of tinkering but a second opinion would be great,
    Ederson Hamer
    Bailly VVD Stones Daniels Wan-Bissaka
    Mane Eriksen Siggy Neves Maddison
    Aguero Firmino Mitro

Stones may be swapped based on the CS lineups. Cheers

Pretty solid...only question mark would be can you get someone who'd score more points than Neves who is a deep lying Pirlo style midfielder. Someone like Cairney might be better as he's on set pieces. Keep an eye on Daniels too...Rico might replace him at GW4

Looks OK but I am not sure on Mitrovic better options from non-promoted sides?
Neves will play as a defnsive mid not sure about his value for point per game in fpl.
Daniels could be a future doubt to start for Bouremouth plus they are very leaky anyway.

looks a good Team. some different faces in there which is nice to see. possibility of you need a few transfers if Daniels gets dropped from gw4 and Aguero shares game time with Jesus but lots of diversity and a few diffrentials.

unsure of Mitro but could step up his game and be a god send for Fulham

      1. Edwards123

        5 years, 9 months ago

Yeah cheers. Maddison is a gut feeling pick so have to stick with him, I’ll look at Daniels maybe Cedric instead. Aguero will probably go to Auba after gw2 and does Neves not take set pieces because I don’t want Cairney as the double Fulham with Mitro. Thanks again

This is the best team I saw so far (my one 🙂

    Ederson (steklenberg)

Robertson Bailly VVD David Luiz (Wan-Bissaka)
    Sigurdsson Mane Sanchez (Gunnarsson Musaku)
    Aguero Lacazette Gray

This is the one all salah owners will be trying to get in a few weeks 😀
    Too late then!

I like the defence if Luiz can cement a place at Chelsea, im sure I read some where Musaku could end up a Reverse out of position at West Ham so keep a eye on that. Gray if keeps his place of Troy could get some nice points in first few weeks and was one I looked at. so long as Aguero doesn't end up swapping with Jesus too often then he could be a good explosive pointer

Thanks yeah originally I has trakowski instead of Luiz and Wood instead of Gray.
But the Europa league put the fly in the oniment a bit.
I am aware of Musaku reverse oop but I could not see another decent alternative.
Stephens could drop in price Romeu a defensive mid etc.
I had dann ward cardiff but there seems to be a doubt over his place.

Personally think going without Salah is very risky. Top points scorer ever in fantasy. If he fires then you have to make at least two moves to get him and 50% teams have him. If he doesn't fire, then you're only one move away from any other player.

      1. Wrong Captain Choice - Ag i…

Fair enough that seems to be the mantra around here.
But I could easily switch to salah by transfering Sanchez and Aguero out if there was a real crisis.
Personally I think the panic over not having him is a myth that has turned into fact.
Also I think Mane is the best value liverpool mid to get.
Plus the liverpool defence should be much stronger over time added to the attacking threat of Robertson and VVD
There has been little or no analysis of how a no salah team can shape up over the long term.
Better defence, better attacking options over all.
Looking at my team I have mostly top 8ish teams arsenal/man city/man united/chelsea/everton with the odd one out being Gray.
With the struture I could get hazard or even an arsenal front two/ KDB depending on the way the form goes.
I just think that extra 2.5m is much better served in defence.
But over the years the fantasy football community seems to be having a fear of putting money in defence in general.
There seems to be more talk about all the points that could have been recieved in hindsight based on the 'perfect rotation' from the previous years stats.

Nice team, like that you've gone a bit different and backed Morata. I think Mahrez should get reasonable game time but we have to accept the City midfield will likely be rotated from time to time.

I'm not personally convinced Shaw will keep fit or keep his place, think he's a transfer out waiting to happen. But great value option if he does play.

I like Sarriball style, and atm only Morata their focal points for goals. His perfomance on Arsenal convince me more, if he sharp enough, goals will come.

Morata was terrible against Arsenal, he's way short at the moment. I think Sarri will play Hazard as a false 9 with Hudson Odoi and Pedro/willian either side.

    Fabianski, (Stekelenburg)
Mendy, D. Luiz, Robertson, (Cedric, Wan-Bissaka)
    Cairney, Sane, Salah, Richarlison, Mahrez
    Arnautovic, Aubameyang, (Kamara)

I realise my sub keeper wont play but im happy to have any 4m non-playing keeper there. I think rotating keepers isn't always easy to predict so happy to just set and forget one. Also don't mind ditching the third striker position.

Im fairly settled on this, but few areas im still deliberating:
    1) 5.5m defender - Luiz vs Coleman vs PVA vs Bailly
    2) 6.5m mid - could also be Jota or maybe Pedro if he looks secured of starts
    3) Man City mids - could just go with one, i.e Sane could be Mane or Eriksen.

    1. Thinkering like a Boss
      • 7 Years
      5 years, 9 months ago

      1) Yeah same dilemma, PVA sworn this season he on business but Bailly and Luiz top def on top team.

      2) Atm, Im on Jota. Odds highly rated him to score 15 goal this season. But if Pedro play, he could deliver too.

      3) This is the part, no one known about City mid. Sane and Mahrez could anytime rotate.

Yeah I think overall you have to think of more clean sheets with Luiz/Bailly. PVA could get attacking returns but main source of defender points is likely clean sheets. Gone Luiz for now as can get attacking returns also.

Yeah I had Jota previously, like he’s the main man and OOP but not sure just how good Wolves will be in the league.

Here my first RMT, what you think about?

    Formation: 5-3-2 / 4-3-3 depending on fixtures.

    Keepers:
    Pickford - Stekelenburg
basically it is a left side team keeper for 4.5

    Defenders:
    Robertson - Bailly - Luiz - Bertrand
I like top teams defenses for CS and Southampton defensers are well prices, I can even consider Cédric for bank

    Midfielders:
    Salah - Mané - Richarlison
Salah always captain. If he has some second season disease I have Aubameyang as backup. Mané can easily go Eriksen or Hazard depending on what happen. Richarlison because hype, not sure if I'm ignoring some great 6.5/7.0 option.

    Forwards:
    Aubameyang - Zaha - King
Zaha can change into Arnautovic depending on transfers. King covers relatively well the bad games of my defense.

    Bench
Walker (out gw1 because of Arsenal and WC, but starter in the following gw's)
Stephens - Gunnarsson (4.5's for the bench)

Are there any errors I’m missing with this because I’m finally really happy with it.
Stones is a provisional pick based on CS lineups, as long as Neves is on set pieces I’m happy and Maddison is a gut feeling pick

    Ederson Stek
    Bailly VVD Stones Cedric Wan-Bissaka
    Mane Eriksen Siggy Neves Maddison
    Aguero Firmino Mitro

    Cheers
