The start of the new season is just days away and the Scoutcast crew are still full of doubts about their 15-man Fantasy Premier League squads.

Andy, Az, David and Mark join me to mull over our likely strategies for the start of the 2018/19 campaign as well as reveal our current line-ups.

Across our 82-minute chat, a consensus emerges on backing Manchester City and Liverpool premium assets. But that could all change depending on tomorrow’s transfer deadline day deals and surprise team news.

Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth look set to supply our teams with a supporting cast of bargain enablers due to favourable fixtures. Well, for now at least.

But the groupthink soon breaks down when we discuss forward options, with Mark looking exclusively for value up top, while the rest of us are more keen to splash our cash.

The hive-mind soon returns at the end as we reveal our top choice for the Gameweek 1 armband, so to help those daring to shun a certain Egyptian we also offer up a host of alternative captaincy options.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Also, this week we are publishing a series of videos looking in detail at each of the Scoutcast regulars’ current Gameweek 1 line-ups.

Probably not. Heard something stat on scoutcast or somewhere else the Walkers crossing stats are dire.

Well, everyone is picking Bernardo Silva instead of Mahrez. Also, no one is picking Woods anymore.

Mahrez: Pep said it Bernardo + 10 others so people think he's nailed, which sounds too good to be true when it comes to City

Wood(s): Yellow flag, Europa League, other good options in the same price range

B Silva is a short term pick. He won’t be nailed when KDB, David Silva and Sterling return

Mahrez will play, unless you know something the rest of us don't.

Wood and Ward flagged, could go either way. Wouldn't be surprised if Wood gets half a game.

    A.

    B.

    C.

Opinions appreciated. Questions at the bottom. 🙂

    0.5m ITB

    Ryan
    Mendy Robbo Mee
    Salah(c) Mane B.Silva Maddison
    Auba Arnie King

    Button Boly Gunnarsson WB

Do I stick with Auba or twist to Kun? Currnet plan is Mane -> KDB, B.Silva -> 7.5m/7.0m, Auba/Kun -> Kane

    1. Pascal's Triangle
      • 12 Years

Stick with Auba, I feel Arsenal will score and likely to be involved more of a long term choice

I like Arnie, feel he is fixture proof. Auba same but I think he can score. Really tempted by Kun though.

If Auba is as good as we all think he is then hold him.
Kun tempting but I have stuck with Auba.
When is your Auba > Kane move planned?
Don't matter it won't happen you will keep Auba 🙂

Took me a while to realise both defences were the same. Helpful to write them in the same order.

It's basically Mkhi vs Jimenez. B for me, as Mkhi might not play. Plus gives you extra cash which, if me, I'd spend to upgrade somewhere. Can almost get Salah for Sanchez.

It's good I like it. I've gone with Mane instead of Sanchez with money to change but otherwise very similar 8 the same TAA instead of Robbo etc. I guess this is template

    For 11m,

    1. DDG + 5m or cheaper defender (Shaw?) (Already have 3 Liverpool, 3 City)
    2. Lloris + Luiz (Looks better on paper but not convinced by Chelsea or Spurs defence from pre-season)

Can't be sure of Emery's first choice formation and line-up. One of Mkhi, Laca and Rambo will likely start on the bench, at least against stronger opp.

I'd use the firs t 2 GWs to observe and then bring him or another in GW3

If he stays I really want him in. Asked earlier why he's getting no love on here and the consensus seems to be the uncertain future and the slight injury. Also we really have no idea what Emery is gonna do.

Early doors he was out cos everyone was raving about what a bargain Mkhi was. Even that's died away now. We just need time to see a clear picture at Arsenal. FWIW i think they'll have a good season, but with those first 2 fixtures it's wise to wait.
