The start of the new season is just days away and the Scoutcast crew are still full of doubts about their 15-man Fantasy Premier League squads.

Andy, Az, David and Mark join me to mull over our likely strategies for the start of the 2018/19 campaign as well as reveal our current line-ups.

Across our 82-minute chat, a consensus emerges on backing Manchester City and Liverpool premium assets. But that could all change depending on tomorrow’s transfer deadline day deals and surprise team news.

Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth look set to supply our teams with a supporting cast of bargain enablers due to favourable fixtures. Well, for now at least.

But the groupthink soon breaks down when we discuss forward options, with Mark looking exclusively for value up top, while the rest of us are more keen to splash our cash.

The hive-mind soon returns at the end as we reveal our top choice for the Gameweek 1 armband, so to help those daring to shun a certain Egyptian we also offer up a host of alternative captaincy options.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Also, this week we are publishing a series of videos looking in detail at each of the Scoutcast regulars’ current Gameweek 1 line-ups.

If Salah scores a 1 or a 2 in GW1 how much of his 53% ownership are you expecting to drop, could literally be 10%>

would it be enough to get a 0.2 price drop or would it need something far more extreme?

Transferring your 13m 32 goal 303 point star player out after the game has been online for 1 GW is absolutely ridiculous and only something someone who doesn't have him would think is plausible.

True that, but to be fair that's exactly what a heck of a lot of people did with Kane when he did his August last season!

Players in the premium price bracket tend to experience fewer price changes. Especially if they have a high ownership.

Ralls surely an option at 5m, as a strong bench player. Would need him for GW2 when CPL plays Pool, might just go for him. 5 and 7 last year and on every set piece.

You'll get him just for one game? Any other fixture Cardiff are a basketcase.

          For me Cairney is
          a) nailed
          b) in a good team
          c) likely to pitch in with more assists

They've spent a lot to buy in good players. Cardiff are a Championship side and haven't got in any Premier quality players.

Hi, still cant decide, need help on this.
    Which combo is better?
    A. DDG, Mendy, Tomkins
    B. Ederson, Bavies, Tomkins
    C. Particio, Mendy, Bavies
    D. Kepa, Mendy, Shaw
    Thanks 🙂

it's tough not knowing you whole squad short term I really like D coz of Chelsea fixture and Shaw's instability of starts further on.while AB and C with ddg enderson and bavis are very good long term solutions and perhaps season keepers .you might wildcard and get all this guys in then .the only downfall of D is we don't know how good Kepa will be. short-term setup imo should give you the most possible points in your time frame given good luck

I have decided to rotate a Watford defender with Wan-B for my 4th defender spot.
Problem is they are all 4.5 and I really don't know who to go for
Is Kabasele the best option and importantly is he nailed.

"Wolves are on the verge of signing Leander Dendoncker from Anderlecht." - I guess this is a Neves concern (all be it probably not from the start)?

Currently have Neves as my scummer 5th mid but now pondering a swap to Cairney.

To me, Neves looks like an excellent player IRL but not a great fantasy pick. This might make avoiding him easier...

Yeah, I've done that. Seems to me Wolves have brought in so much quality that only Patricio, Boly and Jota are safe.

Anderlecht fan here - for what it’s worth, Im convinced Neves is much better than Dendoncker. But yeah, rotation is possible of course. Neves will remain first choice though.

              Salah | B Silva | Richarlison | Fraser

    Salah(c)-B Silva-Mane-Siggy
    Kun-Arnie
    4.5GK, Wan-B, Costa (M-WW), 4.5F

    Aguero / Arnautovic / Zaha

I think if you aren't going with 3 up front, pick one of Zaha & Arnie and upgrade Richarlson/Stephens, or a D. Guessing when Forwards will score is impossible, so rotating up top is frustration in the making.

Good morning. Feel like I am almost settled on my team. Just one question:

    DDG & BSilva or

      I'm on Patricio and Mahrez.

Think United's defensive stats flattered them last season, and combined with a potential 3rd season Jose implosion, I'm happy to avoid.

Whilst DDG is slightly overpriced, Patricio is under-priced IMO. Quality goalkeeper, playing for a manager known for defensive stability in a side that should do well in the Premier League.

Going with Mahrez has he is IMO a better long-term bet. His versatility means I expect him to get plenty of minutes over the season, and is potentially explosive. Bernardo Silva good bet for the first few games - but who knows after that? If he does kick on, easy to downgrade Mahrez to get him.

Not nailed at all - but Lossl has missed much of pre-season with "a problem", so as good a bet as any as gk fodder. Plus we are unlikely to want triple Huddersfield at any point this season.

Yes, he was my 4m choice for a long time. He could even start GW1. But He won't oust Pickford whereas Hamer could be a season keeper.

Patricio is my nailed#1, but GW3 v City, Hamer is home to Cardiff!

C'mon, the look on his face when Pogba bogs off seconds before the window slams ........ priceless!

He can still bog off after the window shuts....Spanish window doesn't close until end of August

That's right. Delicious isn't it. Given Woodward knows that he'd have to conclude a deal today, otherwise it's the equivalent of a no-Brexit deal!

Salah over 50% ownership with the vast majority handing him the armband - it's a braver man than me that goes without!

Jose seems to be heading to his standard 3rd season meltdown syndrome puts me off Sanchez - his main appeal really being an easy route to KDB with GW1 appeal but not at the expense of Salah.

No love for Willian? Started last friendly and feel he will be a key player under Sarri...

On the basis of the CS I believe their attack will be disjointed for the first few months. Actually even Sarri agrees with me!

They've got such easy fixtures though. I think I'm the only one tempted by a morata punt... He's a confidence player, so how better to start against the likes of Huddersfield, Newcastle, Cardiff and Bournemouth with arsenal at home as a decent game for attack before they get their defence more in order.

Probably my craziest punt, but can change to lacazette or firmino if it falls flat on its face!

Top three preferences for 17.5m on three defenders to play every week

    Can be 6.5 - 6 - 5 or 6 - 6 - 5.5
Currently on Mendy, VVD and Bellerin (6-6-5.5)

Agree just holding off on Bellerin til GW3
Seems like everyone is going VVD over Robertson now. No way that Moreno should be a threat but that last friendly game and Moreno getting the first 45 minutes got us all running scared 🙂

Ashley Young surely a good option when he's back? 2 goals 6 assists last season, now listed as a defender. 33 years old only concern, how often do you think he will be rotated, can't see Shaw getting many minutes?

Impossible to say given Mou's current state of mind. I'd want to see how things play out.
