Fantasy Premier League managers are encouraged to factor the Gameweek 2 set-piece match-ups in their transfer plans in the next few days.

In the first of a new series of Members articles we will assess where set play situations can be exploited each week.

Where this differs from the set-pieces tab is that we have added extra detail on how many of each set-piece has been taken so far, which players have had the most attempts from set-plays in terms of goal efforts, as well as how like teams are to receive or give away free kicks or penalties.

That way, by comparing each team’s overall set-piece data to find any mismatches, individuals expected to benefit from these situations will become clearer.

We ran similar articles during the World Cup and found them to helpful to Fantasy managers, hence why we have decided to bring them to FPL.

Obviously we only have round of data so far so it may difficult to find too many over-arching trends right now, but we’ll be building on this template every week for Members to use when making their transfers or deciding on team selection.

Any differences between the takers here and on the set-pieces tab are purely because that individual is not available in Gameweek 2. For example, Junior Stanislas is an important figure in set-pieces for Bournemouth but will not feature at West Ham through injury, so we have removed him the list of potential takers for this weekend’s match.

Arnie might do better this week. But you can't be making transfers for week by week gains. Looking at the next 4/5 Zaha's fixtures look better.

Fair point mini league is 90 pound pot every 5 GWs so I wanted to stay ahead of the person in second as I got 106 last week he got 88 and 3rd is miles behind, he has arnie and was worried he might pop off

If you used your eyes to read it’s a 5 GW pot which means after 5 game weeks someone wins 90 pound so for the next 4 GWs I want the most points I can get and in my opinion Arnie outscores zaha by 4 easily over the next two if not three matches

Posts like these give me hope. You can level the playing field by giving everyone the same stats and tips but at the end of the day it's the actual fpl managers patience And decisions that matter. Phew. Glad I'm seeing a lot of these kinda posts last few days

It’s a 5 GW pot and he has Arnie and over the next two i believe he outscores zaha by 4 how is that bad statically

Bit of advice.. play the medium term. If u play week by week like you plan with zaha, to Arnie you will destroy your rank over the season. Zaha over 5 games should outscore Arnie. At least he should outscore Arnie +FT. Good luck

The thought process makes sense with the 5GW timeline in mind, but I would consider such measures only for genuine captaincy options.

Zaha / Arnie for next 4 weeks might be much closer and not worth it.

      Good luck!

Just used the member's comparison tool to compare:

    1) Palace Defence at home Vs Huddersfield defence away from home
    2) Liverpool attack away Vs Man City attack at home

It's not even close. Man City way ahead on both counts.

True. However they also played every other game last year, and Sané started most games. So all we can take from this is that Pep is quite unpredictable and it's risky giving the captaincy to somebody who might get 10 minutes. However, if I get any kind of indication of Aguero starting in Peps pc then I'll definitely give it to him. Either way it'll be somebody from city

Scotty I think we need to have a chat.

Do you play this game to improve? If the answer to that last question is yes, I have no idea why you think your current question obsession is in any way conducive to improving. It's not that questions are bad, it's that yours have no logical consistency, seem devoid of any thought process and you never seem to offer your own opinion. If you can't think for yourself then you can't improve.

Got am assist and considering they played a large portion with 10 men, I think he did ok. Only concern is niasse chopping his minutes

It said he had one shot in the game which I saw in highlights. Long range drive saved by keeper comfortably. They were playing with 10 men for 50mins

Biggest take-away was that after the red card, Richarlson had a yellow, Silva didn't take him out (Siggy instead), and kept both him and Tosun on the pitch.

I do not give any of those fpl twatters the time of day but if there are people willing to pay them for advice then good luck to them.

Maybe it is a clever ploy to steering the market in one direction while moving a different way yourself. From what i hear Jay Egersdorff told people to stay clear of Shaw and then shamelessly had him in his gw1 team.

I can just imagine the evil laugh he left out when Shaw scored the goal.

It's actually genius. Not the throwing off part, but the general business model. FPL is ongoing, and if you market yourself correctly, you'll have people willing to pay for advice. The thing is, when you simply get given "the answer" you don't learn anything about how to manage your team. Therefore, you'll forever seek out advice because you can't think for yourself. Sustainable business model.

I have no qualms about £ related to FPL but not these methods. Ebooks, videos, course are all good though. Most advice people give is shite anyway.

Darmian - likely to be replaced by Young / Valencia in GW2?

If so then transfer to (A) Keane or (B) Mee or (C) Schlupp?

548 not good enough for ya? 😛 Anyway, that will be rectified this season - I've never been ranked inside the top 3k in the first 10 weeks, let alone the first week.

Having one good season means nothing, it's all about that consistency. Think you'll struggle to find many other managers with an average rank of 1500 over the last 4 seasons.

    8 years, 11 days ago

My two cents about not having Salah:

After a lot of consideration- I decided to go without Salah. I find it ridiculous to put permanent captain armband on someone. And I believe Shaqiri was bought to bring some relief to Salah specially - he is more suited to right side of the attacking three.

And the team balance is way better as the money is well spread. I was able to field Mane, Eriksen, Mahrez, Aguero, Aubameyang in my attack - yes all but mane failed to return, but let’s see how it goes moving forward.

And frankly speaking since I’m not good enough as the top fpl players, this might give me an outside chance to compete with them.

Can justify it however you like, but there are going to be numerous occasions where Salah single handedly punishes your team and GW scores.

It undoubtedly leads to a more balanced team. I too have gambled and gone without Salah to begin with. My gamble is based on the assumption that Salah might regress a little bit (i.e. still score a lot but less than 300 points like last year!) and Mane will progress accordingly. So far it's worked out with my Mane (C) call and my expensive defence, but that doesn't mean I won't reassess things in the future. I'm not writing off Salah for the season, it would be foolish to do so.

Final update is a sticky on the overnight article near the price changes.
Updates get posted near the FPL update when possible.

If Schlupp is removed from his midfield spot, is he more likely to be benched or re-positioned into defense?

Benched. PVA nailed at left back.

He’s a left back so his direct competition would be PVA. I would imagine PVA is nailed Ward is AWB competition.

Hopefully these Christian Eriksen to PSG rumors don't come to fruition it would be a shame to see him leave the league.

Spurs would be mad to sell after not signing a single player.

Meh,form a business point of view it makes since.£100m would held a lot with the mortgage but from a footballing point of view it would be disastrous.

Players like that do not grow on trees,i would sell Kane before i would sell Eriksen if i needed to raise money.

Would have to be a large amount of money to even turn spurs’ heads. Completely agree unbelievable player and would be a shame to see him go.

Saw something on twitter saying Richarlison should be good for the weekend but I’d say still give it a couple of days before you pull the trigger

Not worth -4. You’d need richarlison to score 6 points to break even. Do it for free next week

I have a troll Salahless 4-5-1 which I'm trying to get first in Tuvalu with...it outscored my main team this week somehow. I should save FT right?

    Patricio - 4.0
    Mendy - PvA - DLuiz - Bellerin - AWB
    Sanchez - Eriksen - Mane - Bilva - Jota
    Kane - 4.5 - 4.5

    Thanks 🙂
