gundogan should be a good city option right? 5.5 and most likely to start?

I'd say for the same price Fernandinho is more nailed and as likely to get points. Gundy could be cycled with Foden, Dilva, lose out if Pep starts Sterling and Sane with Mahrez centre and Bilva deeper. Dunno, I don't see Gundy as the best City pick.

Yeah I'm considering him. But I'm not overly confident on his return. He may play but I think his threat is minimal.
The price point though is all that really interests me. Getting a playing city mid and change isn't to be sniffed at

yes and no, in my opinion. I think he's *likely* to start more games now, however not sure it'll be most games anyways. He might play Fernandinho as a lone DM with five attacking players for which he has 7 or 8 to choose from. (Bernardo, David Silva, Sterling, Sane, Foden(?) Jesus, Aguero, Mahrez,)

With the fixtures City have coming I would not be surprised if this is the way he went, although one never knows with Pep.

How do you think he'll start vs Hudds for instance? Do you see Gundogan there?

Also, even if he starts he usually playing quite deep and not getting into too many (relatively to other City players) goalscoring opportunities

  6. Wrong Captain Choice - Ag i…
    • 17 Years

Just on the captaincy pick debate. When I am picking a captain I consider all of my starting eleven.
I look at thier form, the fixture they have, the likelihood of them getting points, the amount of minutes they will get.
Maybe I am alone in this I don't know?
But I don't believe in things like never captain a defender.
That to me is silly because in this game it is designed so you can captain anyone.
Also the logic that a defender can loose a clean sheet in a second amuses me.
That is just the game of football and it is the chance you take.
Much like you take a chance that xyz attacker will score or get an assist.
Sometimes they get nothing, sometimes they are subbed early.
It is the chance you take.
Last week I captained Mane for example.
This week looking at my squad I think Mendy is not only the safest option but the best one.
If I did not have Mendy Ederson would come into my thinking.

Existential essentials molded by the differentials, confounded by the eventual form over fixture conventions.

I think that is a good call. Mendy even seemed more advanced and involved then Alonso in his wingback days for Chelsea.
Pep seems to love the guy as well which helps.

Yeah that Hudderfield will sit back and try and stifle man city with men behind the ball.
If City do not score an early goal Huddersfield can become even more entrenched.
City will be bombing forward Mendy playing most of the game up field given all the possession they will have.
If Aguero does not score by 60 minutes he will likely be subbed for Jesus.

So factoring all that in I decided on Mendy.
It could completely backfire if City get an early goal though!

I don't go by ownership I just judge it by what I see and the squad I have.

    Morning Guys,
For GW2 I'm contemplating taking a 4 point hit and bringing in Mendy and Pickford for PVA and Ederson on the following basis:
    1. Fear of missing out on Mendy filling his boots at home to Huddersfield.
    2. Pickford home to a toothless Southampton.
    3. PVA meeting a rampant Liverpool who'd push him back and curtail his attacking instincts.
    4. Have a full quota of City players so had to sacrifice Ederson.
    Thoughts welcome.

Repost as lost at bottom of previous page:

Plan on doing Salah -> Mané after this gw so can do Firmino -> auba. Is it worth doing Salah transfer before this week to avoid more Mané price rises or good to wait? Or would you not do this what so ever.

Full team is this in case you think of a better way to get him in.

I would wait for GW5 to make a decision on Salah/Mane situation. Also to see are there good captaincy options during that tougher run for Liverpool from GW5 until GW9 (Spurs (A) , Southampton (H), Chelsea (A), Man City (H)).

If I feel I don't want to captain Salah in 2 or 3 out of those 4 games, I think loosing him for that period is an option. Bringing him back again after spreading the money could be tricky though.

    Salah vs Palace: 1 goal 1/2, 2 goals 11/4, 3 goals 10/1
    Kun vs Hudds: 1 goal 2/9, 2 goals 13/10, 3 goals 4/1

Probably not. They will work out their prices based on them playing a full game. It is for the punter to consider the possibility or rotation as they may be betting on a player who could see reduced minutes if they come on as sub for example.

He'll be camping in the opponent box feeding the strikers. Plus a guaranteed CS. If ever there was a good time to captain a defender, this really is it.

      Yes for me.
Can't see Huddersfield getting the ball much man city just need to watch corners and free-kicks.
      They will sit back
Good chance Mendy will get an assist.

Bit too early for me to be going for that, Aguero or Salah haul and you could be already chasing

    5. MaxiRobriguez
      • 11 Years
      8 years, 9 days ago

Clean sheet and goal/assist from Mendy would return 10+ points minimum.

      Aguero brace returns 12-13 points.

One is guaranteed to play 90 minutes the other isn't. If you're ever going to captain a defender this is the game to do it.

      1. luke25
        • 11 Years
        8 years, 9 days ago

You're basically looking at Mendy to get just 4 less attacking points than Aguero pretty much (clean sheet points), not exactly too likely

        1. MaxiRobriguez
          • 11 Years
          8 years, 9 days ago

Would agree if both are guaranteed to play 90 minutes, but they're not, only Mendy is. I'm going with Aguero getting 60 minutes, and in that scenario I think Mendy CS/assist is more likely than Aguero two goals.

          It's close, no doubt. 🙂

Arsenal injury news: Ainsley Maitland-Niles: small fracture to left fibula - out 6-to-8 weeks. Carl Jenkinson: significant sprain to right ankle - out 6-to-8 weeks. Kolašinac expected to be back in training in October, Koscielny expected back in November, Welbeck and Monreal back in full training.

Jenkinson owners who are you replacing him with?

The knee's gone mate. I like Mitro tbh. Bilva may be more nailed now, but I don't see where his points are gonna be coming from tbh. Mahrez will be the main beneficiary with all the extra set-pieces I'd think. The only transfer I'd be thinking about is Jota to Richarlison or Maddison. But that's a sideways transfer too

This could be complete nonsense so feel free to ignore but I think City might play both Aguero and Jesus against teams that will park the bus to give greater attacking threat. We may see a system similar to that used just before Mendy was injured last year where City played with three at the back. Both Jesus and Aguero thrived in that system and there were plenty of goals. So Aguero may be less of a rotation risk than some think.

Meh, 4 or 3 at the back makes little difference to them. It's the 2-up we're looking for. Aguero nailed i reckon, Jesus looks weak.
