Fantasy Premier League managers are encouraged to factor the Gameweek 3 set piece match-ups in their transfer plans in the next few days.

In the second of a new series of Members articles we assess once again where set play situations can be exploited.

Where this differs from the Set Pieces tab is that we have added extra detail on how many of each set piece has been taken so far, which players have had the most attempts from set-plays in terms of goal efforts, as well as how like teams are to receive or give away free kicks or penalties.

That way, by comparing each team’s overall set piece data to find any mismatches, individuals expected to benefit from these situations will become clearer.

We ran similar articles during the World Cup and found them to helpful to Fantasy managers, hence why we have decided to bring them to FPL.

Obviously we only have two rounds of data so far so it may difficult to find too many over-arching trends right now, but we’ll be building on this template every week for Members to use when making their transfers or deciding on team selection.

Any differences between the takers here and on the set-pieces tab are purely because that individual is not available in Gameweek 3.

Love seeing all the BSilva > Mhki moves from the same people who were saying BSilva was Man City best asset before this gw smh.

BSilva still a very good asset. One GW does not change that.

I am still in the Bilva camp. He will play the majority of games while KDB is injured IMO. And if he is on the pitch he can contribute.

It's ludicrous. If Bilva scores that toe poke nobody would be doing this.

I don't own him or plan on bringing him in but I do believe that people were talking him up so big and he blanks one gw and it's a fire sale. Got to give him a chance with KdB being out, at the very least he's gonna get minutes.

Not saying BSilva is a bad option, but ignoring Mkhitaryan alltogether is rather foolish. He's been Arsenal's most creative player so far and their next 10 fixtures are as good as it can get.

The watchlist can be so confusing sometimes.

Aubameyang (C) is ranked higher than Kane (B).
So, Aubameyang in worse form is expected to outscore Kane in better form.
There is no (Vs) factor on either player, which means better fixtures should not be not a factor (or a strong enough factor) for this ranking.

I don't know if this makes sense.

They made a mistake, there's no reason why Aubameyang shouldn't have a Vs next to his name

Well, I would think so, but neither does Mkhitaryan.

Auba has a massive VS next to him.

And I wouldn't argue Kane is in "good" form by any means.

    3. Unliklinho
      • 13 Years
      8 years, 20 days ago

I've always considered the watchlist to be about 'desirability' of players given upcoming fixtures, and not necessarily a measure of form. Looked at like that, Auba probably is more desirable.

I never follow watchlist.. Sometimes they have VS sign with def but not with mid or fwd from same team..

      1. Ne0
        • 13 Years
        8 years, 20 days ago

Well that would make sense though in a way. If facing a weak attacking but strong defending opposition, the defender should have a VS but the mid and attacker should not.

PVA is nailed. Bellerin was terrible at the back in the last 2 games so possibly could get dropped for Lichtsteiner.

Bellerin looked really good going forward and if he was 100% nailed i would pick him. but PVA instead.

    Hey all.
So I've done ok out of the last 2 GW's netting just under 200.
Something about the team doesn't sit right with me and I can't put my finger on it.
I know Holobas isn't the best - and Bed/Long pretty much don't play and Pickford isn't great.
That all being said, they have netted me good points.

    Pickford (Stekelenburg)
    Mendy / Holebas / van Dijk (Bednarek / Wan-Bissaka)
Salah / Fraser / Mané / Richarlison / Bernardo Silva
    Zaha / Agüero (Long)

I'm thinking of removing bSilva for Walcott or Mhiki.
It's going to cost me -4 to do it.
I've got 1.5 ITB - so I could even upgrade Pickford to Edderson or maybe one of the Defenders for someone better.

    Thoughts?

Why would you sell Bilva for a hit?

He's fairly nailed imo and couldn't have better fixtures.

I know he didn't look extremely involved in the last match, but he very nearly got a goal and could have had an assist as well.

I think it is waaaay to rash to ship him at this point - especially for a hit - unless it's part of a structure change that you really think is the way to go.

      Just sit tight and reassess.

Worth spending 1 of my 2 free transfers on getting rid of Doherty? Rest of my team is fine (giving King 1 more week).

The other options at 4.5 aren't great though. Cook/Smith, Duffy and maybe Cedric are probably the best of the picks.

    1. OldBenKenobi

        Mendy, Robbo, PVA, Doherty, AWB
        Salah, Mane, Bilva, Richarlison, Stephens
        Aguero, Arnie, King

I am pretty happy with my team and have had a good start. King and Doherty are 2 who haven't shown much. I could make no transfer at all as Doherty will be on my bench.

I see what you mean. There’s nothing wrong with wasting a transfer if it’s not needed. I have the time people feel they HAVE to use them and end up taking someone out that they regret. U less you want Arsenal cover for their fixtures or change Foster then I’d not make a transfer

? A pass forward for Wilson to do a Maradona against a wet jelly like West Ham defence and a header from a free kick. Still playing CB in a team that concedes goals. Had one of those games and folk are going nuts for him.

I just did that move. Wanted to get Mikky and Mendy in with my 2 frees. Mendy in meant having 4 City players (already had Ederson, Bilva and Kun) so one had to go. Mikky for Bilva, done. It's a risk, but Arsenal have to come out storming after those two losses. And Bilva is a bench risk after his performance at the weekend. Or so I have kidded myself.

    A) Bailly > PvA, Cairney > Kante next week
    B) Roll the transfer, Salah + Cairney > Hazard + MKhi

Don't get why so many are looking to bring in PvA when AWB is 4.0

Attacking-ness basically. I have AWB as well. And there aren't many other good options at this price. Maybe Luiz. Was thinking Bellerin but he looks a genuine rotation threat since Lichtsteiner joined.

Can you bench Bailly and re-assess with 2 FTs?

    Firmino + Sanchez ->
    A) auba + mkhi + 1.9

    Zaha + Sanchez ->
    B) auba + Fraser + 0.9

    A or b?

Not crazy about mhki, but Zaha is too good of value to drop if u have him imo

I'm on wildcard and looking at the exact same midfield. Logic says Dilva should less likely to rotate now that KDB is injured but it could benefit both. But Bilva matched last season and is .9 cheaper. Looked great preseason. On budget and I want Alonso so going Bilva.

Honestly, I have no idea. But want 3 City

No Scoutcast for me, half time at AFC Totton in the Southern League Division 1 South vs Moneyfields. £9 on the gate. 1-0 up.

Is Cech a crazy option as Arsenal have nice fixtures but are toss at the back? Hamer is sub keeper and need to ditch Patricio!

    **** me lads.

I thought Sunderland were bad last season in the Championship. By golly, we’re making them look like 1974 Brazil.

I can’t see this QPR team getting 10 points this season unless 3 teams forfeit and a fourth game gets abandoned after 2 minutes and they award a point each.

We are so effing bad this hurts.

Sorry, had to get this off my chest, I am so mad with every one of those a holes disgracing a QPR shirt tonight!

    WC team:

    Ederson - 4.0
    Mendy - Robertson - Alonso - Lascelles - AWB
    Mkhi - Richarlison - Mane - Kante - (4.5)
    Zaha - Aguero - Auba
