Fantasy Premier League managers are encouraged to factor the Gameweek 3 set piece match-ups in their transfer plans in the next few days.

In the second of a new series of Members articles we assess once again where set play situations can be exploited.

Where this differs from the Set Pieces tab is that we have added extra detail on how many of each set piece has been taken so far, which players have had the most attempts from set-plays in terms of goal efforts, as well as how like teams are to receive or give away free kicks or penalties.

That way, by comparing each team’s overall set piece data to find any mismatches, individuals expected to benefit from these situations will become clearer.

We ran similar articles during the World Cup and found them to helpful to Fantasy managers, hence why we have decided to bring them to FPL.

Obviously we only have two rounds of data so far so it may difficult to find too many over-arching trends right now, but we’ll be building on this template every week for Members to use when making their transfers or deciding on team selection.

Any differences between the takers here and on the set-pieces tab are purely because that individual is not available in Gameweek 3.

Tough to tell at the minute. They may prove to be though. Can't see either being dropped ATM by new managers who need their in-form players to keep performing.

If we assume that all of them are equally nailed then they could probably be better value, but they are not as nailed as Haz and Auba

Pedro maybe if he not rotate, Mkhi hell no. Auba way more promising to me.

I would say the opposite. Pedro is much more at risk than Mkhitaryan imo.

Starting to look like they will both be somewhat nailed until they drop form. But yeah both are still a bit risky at this point.

Potentially better value, yes. Especially considering you might not want to use any of them as C.

Pedro is looking pretty interesting so far. Mkhi too much of an unproven asset for me.

Yeah - I’m currently on this, but if Pedro starts ahead of Willian this week then I’m tempted with B. Can see both ARS and CHE scoring a bucket load over the next few weeks.

Eriksen to Mkhitaryan or Hazard for -4 ? Yes or No ? Or save ?

Not sure I'd take a hit for Hazard until we're surer that he starts games.

I'd probably say it's worth saving for now if you can afford to, and then do Eriksen -> Hazard for his better run of games.

Don't do it. Remember that you picked Bilva for a reason. He's a starting midfielder in the best team in the league and he has wlv NEW FUL next.

Mkhi is a good pick but find some other way of getting him rather than the easy short-term switch. Next week, if they both blank (or score) you'll be looking at Mkhi's car new vs Bilva's NEW FUL

Look at the heat maps. https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1284758/Preview/England-Premier-League-2018-2019-Manchester-City-Huddersfield

Doesn't really seem that far back. And then he also moved into CAM for the last half hour or so after subs were made and got a golden chance that was saved. It might be that the first hour he doesn't do much, but if he gets shifted in the last half hour, he can really get amongst the points.

No, still in three behind Aguero but with Dilva back in the middle he was shunted out wide where he spent most of last season at threat of rotation from Sterling and now add Mahrez to that. He did go back in the middle once Dilva was subbed.

the reason I personally picked him was because he was a starting midfielder until David Silva was back fit. Now he's just on the pile of will he/won't he play City mids I'm afraid

Mkhi rising tonight though, so if you want to pull a trigger you better do it before the price change I guess.

Last time out I thought that TAA crossing was poor and Robertson continues to be good both in defence and in attack. TAA has good pace which may help to keep him in the team. I am sticking with Robertson.

That's the thing, Lichtsteiner could replace either of them, and then you have dodgy centre backs and the fact that Arsenal have looked poor in defense, it's better to just avoid.

          Get Luiz for 5.5m instead.

Look like wildcard team. No way from gw1 this is your team. Hazard/Mane must go or just do Kante > Hughes/5.0m mid.

Yeah had a great start but still wildcarded to get Hazard and Alonso into the team without losing other expensive players I wanted to keep.. Hmm, will look into Hughes, cheers

But still unsure about Hughes, difficult fixture next. Maybe just keep Kante is good option after all.

No and no. Team looks fine for what you've built. Would be worried about strikers, but you seem set on going extremely heavy in midfield. Seriously consider downgrading Salah next week to upgrade Ings.

    Who to bench

    Mahrez (wol)
    King (EVE)
    Zaha (wat)
    Mitrovic (BUR)

    Currently on mahrez.

I Also have Fraser in my midfield bare this in mind so could drop king - but wouldn’t surprise me if king gets big points in this fixture.

Mahrez because unsure of starting XI, but if he start, he a no-brainer must start for me.

The only reason behind me benching mahrez is because of rotation. I think I’m going to bench king and just hope he blanks.

King has good record against Everton. Maybe bench Zaha for me. I know insane suggestion, but Watford now has good defense and attacking option.

Who partners VVD long term: Gomez, Lovren or Matip?

Think it could be Gomez time to step up to the plate, assuming we keep up with the form and Gomez impresses locren won’t stand a chance at getting into this team even long term.

Anyone else think Mahrez will still be top 3 scoring City mids this season?

Hope he drops to 8.5m before hitting form and then get him in 😀

    1. Sterling
    2 & 3 David Silva/Mahrez
    4 & 5 Bernardo Silva/Sane
    6. The rest

Not including KdB because out for so long, but when back and at a decent price, straight in many teams....

So difficult to tell with the rotation. They will all get rotated throughout the season, just depends who manages to make the most impact when they are on the field.

On that basis, I think Mahrez could be top 4: Sterling #1, Mahrez/Dilva/Sane #2-4

It's not really that difficult, could fit them in mine with only 3 changes (Only own Aguero at the moment)..

      Begovic - Hamer
      Mendy - TAA - Shaw - Holebas - AWB
      Salah - Mkhi - Pedro - Walcott - 4.5
      Kane - Aguero - Ings

    Begovic - Shaw - AWB - Schneiderlin

Bilva / Salah / Mhiki / Sessegnon (Chalobah)
    Aguero / Arnie / Firmino

On WC. Guess this looks pretty template. Would you swap Zaha for Pedro in a 5 man midfield? Or try to squeeze 0.4m to swap Wilson for Pedro?

    Hennessy
    Robbo Mendy Alonso
    Salah Mane Mikhi Rich
    Aguero Zaha Wilson

    Hamer Bennett Guendozi AWB

The demise of Bernardo Silva has been so ridiculously overstated.

    - He's a rotation risk! > No, he's not. He's probably the most nailed on City midfielder and has performed well.
    - He's too defensive! > No, look at the heat maps, he's playing wider with Silva in the team, but if/when Silva gets subbed off, he moves into CAM. Last game, he had 3 shots, 2 on target and was extremely unlucky not to score.
    - Mkhitaryen is just way better! > Mkhi did look good and I do want him, lots of shots, looked dangerous etc, but we still don't know how he fits into Arsenal when they play weaker teams. Maybe Lacazette gets a start and he's much less influential. His fixtures are also worse than Bilva's over the next 3 games. WHU car new is worse than wlv NEW FUL.

You can make better transfers than this one.

      - He's a rotation risk! > of course he is! You have no evidence to suggest he is 'most nailed'. Centrally he has competition from David Silva who is a fantastic player, and possibly Mahrez. On the right he has competition from Sterling and Mahrez too. To say he's nailed is nuts after two games

He can be rotated, the fact Pep played him RWB is alarming enough.

He's good, but the value is with Mkhi right now.
