The best set piece takers and targets for FPL Gameweek 3

Fantasy Premier League managers are encouraged to factor the Gameweek 3 set piece match-ups in their transfer plans in the next few days.

In the second of a new series of Members articles we assess once again where set play situations can be exploited.

Where this differs from the Set Pieces tab is that we have added extra detail on how many of each set piece has been taken so far, which players have had the most attempts from set-plays in terms of goal efforts, as well as how like teams are to receive or give away free kicks or penalties.

That way, by comparing each team’s overall set piece data to find any mismatches, individuals expected to benefit from these situations will become clearer.

We ran similar articles during the World Cup and found them to helpful to Fantasy managers, hence why we have decided to bring them to FPL.

Obviously we only have two rounds of data so far so it may difficult to find too many over-arching trends right now, but we’ll be building on this template every week for Members to use when making their transfers or deciding on team selection.

Any differences between the takers here and on the set-pieces tab are purely because that individual is not available in Gameweek 3.

      I'd drop Zaha tbh to do Jota to Mickey, then Zaha to..Wilson/Deeney/Gray/Mitro/Ings.. good value there. I'd rather keep DGea than worry about keepers later.

    Can’t afford Alonso atm and was checking Azpilicueta out , 170 and 175p previous seasons. More than Alonso (177, 165p). Was all about getting Robertson this week but this gave me second toughts. So to the question. What your opinion between Robbo and Azpi for transfer in this week? Cheers

    Serious question - why not create a members only discussion group?
    I assume about 50k regular reader of this forum, maybe around 10k only or less paying members (I completely pulled those numbers out of my sitting organ so forgive me if I’m off)

    Pages are flying and discussions are sometimes a bit shallow. Why not give the paying members an area for,slower more profound discussions?
    Might also make some more people want to become members...

      You literally can't even talk on here during games. It's become quite annoying with the 100+ Agueroooooo posts when he scores. I think an actual forum with topics would be WAY better. You could have a bunch of different categories to post where it will get a response. Really that's the biggest downfall of this site.

        You could have a "Pub talk" section where if you wanted to scream and have banter then go there. You could have a RMT section where all the teams would be discussed. You could have a club specific section for each club to discuss what's going on. The possibilities are endless with that format. This is getting to be very annoying lately especially during games. And yes I know there's already a forum like this out there, but FFScout is missing a big oppurtunity to make this the best place to come for all discussion of FPL.

      Agree. I'd join again. The chat board is far too random/fast. Topic headings would be a start. I'd like embedded video clips of goals/fouls etc to illustrate points. In fact, the graphics are poor all over. I love the site, but when I paid I was disappointed.

      With AWB in play, PVA was starting to looking like an expensive luxury for me. Paying 4.1m for similar output allows much the same strategy for 1m less.

      Spending cash in defence can yield long term benefits if you pick the right ones. It does restrict more attacking options or flexibility in transfers so get the right value mids and forwards too. Those are harder to find.

            I agree with you both. Joe is probably slightly better because he takes less risks. Mark is definitely the more entertaining because of his thinking outside the box

      If I'm being honest, and sorry to sound snobby but I can't listen to people who don't understand football, I feel like they chat utter rubbish, and I know it's fantasy football, but it would be better if they had someone who had some tactical knowhow and could offer an insight from that side of the game.

      Let's say, Huddersfield were the only team to keep a clean sheet at the Etihad last season, and Wagner would obviously use the same tactics again this season, so what will Pep do this time to make sure there's no repeat?
      Play 2 strikers, and play wing backs, with one being inverted like Bernardo Silva, as Walker doesnt have a left foot. Etc etc.

        I feel Mark understands football, Jonty only understands fantasy football.

        Get someone who watches football in Europe.. people who've watched Napoli, knew that fullbacks under Sarri would be more attacking than the wingbacks under Conte, I've had this discussion with some coaches.. there's no surprise Alonso is doing well. None of the scoutcast called it.
