The Captain Poll is now open for votes ahead of Gameweek 3 and you can watch our video on the best candidates for the armband below or on our YouTube channel.

The early favourite is, not surprisingly, Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) who faces a very appealing home match against a Brighton side, who are notoriously poor on the road.

The Seagulls shipped nine goals in two league matches against Liverpool in 2017/18, four of them at Anfield in Gameweek 38. The Egyptian netted in that match and provided the assist for Dominic Solanke’s (£5.0m) 53rd minute goal too.

His case is, of course, strengthened by being Liverpool’s biggest goal threat against Crystal Palace on Monday night, even if he only managed two assists in the end.

Sadio Mané (£9.8m), owned by 31 percent, should prove a strong alternative candidate bearing in mind he is a must-have option for the 45 percent of Fantasy managers who do not own Salah, and remains ahead of him for both goal tally and FPL total score.

Either way, Liverpool assets are expected to dominate the captaincy debate this week considering that West Ham were the only top flight side to survive relegation in 2017/18 with more shots conceded on the road than Brighton.

Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.1m) hat-trick against Huddersfield on Sunday will naturally give him some backing for the captaincy this week, as Manchester City prepare to travel to the Molineux.

Wolves may have allowed fewer shots on their goal than any other side so far, but the fact that have still conceded four goals in two matches suggests there are areas to exploit for the reigning champions.

Aguero might be at slightly more risk of rotation this weekend but we will, as per usual, wait and see what emerges in the press conferences later this week.

After four assists in just two matches, the highly-owned Benjamin Mendy (£6.1m) is an option for a second week running. In fact, he finished third in the poll behind just Aguero and Salah for Gameweek 2.

After West Ham’s performance at Anfield in Gameweek 1 and a defeat at home to Bournemouth in Gameweek 3, Arsenal assets might also be worth looking at. The favourites there are expected to be Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£7.0m).

Meanwhile, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur’s meeting at Old Trafford reduces the appeal of a few usual suspects, namely Paul Pogba (£8.1m), Romelu Lukaku (£11.0m) and Alexis Sánchez (£10.5m) for the Red Devils and Harry Kane (£12.5m) and Christian Eriksen (£9.5m) from the north London outfit.

Hi all, what is the best move with 2 FT in hand, 0 itb?

Fabianski - Forster (not Foster, I know, don't ask why)

    Mendy - Davies - TAA - A.Smith - Bissaka

    Salah - Mane - Richarlison - Jota - Cairney

    Aguero - Arnautovic - Zaha

A question for managers who have been playing for a lot of seasons how important is it to get of to a good start its only my 2nd season playing I've scored well the 1st 2 gws 105 and 94 last year I finished just outside the top 100k after being inside it nearly all season and how difficult is it to stay inside the top 10k my rank is 4k now any help much appreciated thanks

Good start. Doesn’t mean much either way, you can drop a lot if you don’t have the big point haulers, or you could make up a lot of ground from almost anywhere this early

well done - bit early to think about rank though imo, just do the 'obvious' moves and see where you are in a few weeks

A good start helps but on the contrary I wildcarded last season Ranked about 2million in gw4/5 and still finished 14k (dropping out of top10 in the final gw).

      It’s a long old season!!!

    5. AndyCook
      8 years, 20 days ago

The benefit of a good start normally is mostly a higher team value and/or getting the season keepers cheaper and saving your wildcard/having the right players earlier. The points total is nothing, all the good players will be within 50 points of you and that can be easily closed in even a few weeks

    6. QPRUTD
      • 10 Years
      8 years, 20 days ago

Always great to have a head start. The hardest part is to stay in the top 5k. You can drop very quickly and its difficult to get back in.
Try sticking to the template team with 1-2 differentials to maintain rank. Then you can push for the top 1k with proper planning around the blanks and doubles.
Also don't bother with team value, it will take care of itself.

    GTG?

    Hamer
    Mendy, Robertson, Tomkins
    Mane, Salah, Richarlison, Mhki,
    Zaha, Aguro, King

    Bench: Patricio, Stephens, Peltier, Wan-Bissaka.
Already did my free transfer. But is something worth a -4 hit?

  21. Bat Man
    • 8 Years
    8 years, 20 days ago

Is there merit to thinking about wildcarding after Liverpool’s Leicester match and taking their players out before their very tough run? Can have a plan to bring back Salah in case he becomes super hot, but you could put a team out of the following which I think is tempting:
    2 4.5 gks
    Mendy/6.0/5.5/Wan B/4.0
    Sterling/Alli/Richarlison/6.5/4.5
    Aguero/Auba/Ings

Easy to downgrade/maneuver Sterling and Alli into Liverpool mids if and when the need arises. I know their defenders are doing great right now, but an argument could be made for other teams once their fixtures turn better (ie Davies instead of Robertson).

Any changes needed here please? I was thinking possibly VVD - Robbo & Patricio to who at 4.5?

    Patricio
    VVD, Shaw, Mendy
    Salah, BSilva, Richarlison, Mane
    Arnie, Kun, Zaha

    Hamer, Cairney, AWB, Peltier.

No need to waste a FT on VVD to Robertson. Better have in pocket if and when Arnie starts to blank bc of the hard fixtures and if Shaw gets dropped

Surely Kane will get a few goals against Man United?

He must be salivating at the thought of their defence.

Walcott and Richarlison in the same team?

    Foster (Hamer)
    Perreira Bellerin PVA Mendy (AWB)
    Fraser Walcott Richarlison Hazard Mane
    Firmino Aguero (Mounie)

    Thoughts?

    Patricio - (Hamer)
VVD - Mendy - Luiz (AWB - Peltier)
    Salah - Mané - Richarlison - Jota - Bilva
    Aguero - Arnautovic (Kamara)

0.5 ITB and 2 free transfers, considering the following:

Jota + Bilva to Mkhi + Pedro, leaving 0.8 ITB.

Are Pedro and Mkhi still considered big rotation risks? any feedback appreciated

    Bottomed

sed my FT already and reluctant to take a hit already before GW3.
As it stands I have my eye on Alonso and Mkhi at some point (possibly Mahrez, Cook > Alonso, Mkhi) but it doesn't feel like something urgent for now.

Do you agree? Maybe make those moves next week for -4?
