The Captain Poll is now open for votes ahead of Gameweek 3 and you can watch our video on the best candidates for the armband below or on our YouTube channel.

The early favourite is, not surprisingly, Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) who faces a very appealing home match against a Brighton side, who are notoriously poor on the road.

The Seagulls shipped nine goals in two league matches against Liverpool in 2017/18, four of them at Anfield in Gameweek 38. The Egyptian netted in that match and provided the assist for Dominic Solanke’s (£5.0m) 53rd minute goal too.

His case is, of course, strengthened by being Liverpool’s biggest goal threat against Crystal Palace on Monday night, even if he only managed two assists in the end.

Sadio Mané (£9.8m), owned by 31 percent, should prove a strong alternative candidate bearing in mind he is a must-have option for the 45 percent of Fantasy managers who do not own Salah, and remains ahead of him for both goal tally and FPL total score.

Either way, Liverpool assets are expected to dominate the captaincy debate this week considering that West Ham were the only top flight side to survive relegation in 2017/18 with more shots conceded on the road than Brighton.

Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.1m) hat-trick against Huddersfield on Sunday will naturally give him some backing for the captaincy this week, as Manchester City prepare to travel to the Molineux.

Wolves may have allowed fewer shots on their goal than any other side so far, but the fact that have still conceded four goals in two matches suggests there are areas to exploit for the reigning champions.

Aguero might be at slightly more risk of rotation this weekend but we will, as per usual, wait and see what emerges in the press conferences later this week.

After four assists in just two matches, the highly-owned Benjamin Mendy (£6.1m) is an option for a second week running. In fact, he finished third in the poll behind just Aguero and Salah for Gameweek 2.

After West Ham’s performance at Anfield in Gameweek 1 and a defeat at home to Bournemouth in Gameweek 3, Arsenal assets might also be worth looking at. The favourites there are expected to be Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£7.0m).

Meanwhile, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur’s meeting at Old Trafford reduces the appeal of a few usual suspects, namely Paul Pogba (£8.1m), Romelu Lukaku (£11.0m) and Alexis Sánchez (£10.5m) for the Red Devils and Harry Kane (£12.5m) and Christian Eriksen (£9.5m) from the north London outfit.

Advice appreciated guys. This is my team
    Ederson
    Robertson, Coleman, Shaw
    Salah, Siggy, Mane, Richarlison
    Zaha, King, Aguero
    Hamer, Cook, Ward, Wan-Bissaka

Which looks better? - I've two I really want to shift: Shaw and King.
    1) Coleman and King to Mendy and Ings (-4)
    2) Shaw (who I really want to shift), Siggy and King to Mendy, Mkhitaryan and Ings (-8)

You might as well keep King now after his drop, BOU vs EVE could be a goalfest

Id just do Siggy > Mkhi this week, then maybe ship King next week, already dropped in price and Everton at home is a decent fixture imo

-8’s should only be done in the worst possible scenarios. Shaw will probably get you returns after Monday tbh.

      I’d go with 1

      2. I think Mendy and Mikhy will make up for that -8 quickly enough.

Cheers for the thoughts guys. My transfer ambitions are motivated mainly by a desire to get Mendy in, who I fear will be 6.4 by the time I can next transfer him.

    Here's a half-baked idea I have. Worth a WC to do A to B after GW3?

    A
    Kepa Hamer
    VvD Mendy Chambers Peltier AwB
    Salah Bilva Mkhitaryan Richarlison Fraser
    Firmino Kun Jimenez

    B
    Ederson Hamer
    Robo Mendy Alonso Bennet AwB
    Mane Pedro Mkhitaryan Richarlison Kante
    Kun Aubameyang Ings

    Cheers!

Yeah, thats the thing haha. I've warmed to the idea of a Salah-less team, although would change my mind once he rips Brighton to shreds this weekend.

Pedro isn't enough to cover Chelsea for BOU, CAR, whu. You really want Hazard.

Will Mendy rise by another 0.1 before next GW? already risen 0.1
Bellerin or Mendy? looking at fixtures and price.

Looks likely price will go up again. Even if Mendy's price goes up higher I would still rather have him than bellerin, they both have good fixtures

Not sure whether to replace Eriksen with Dilva or Mkhitaryan. Do we think Dilva could have a good run in the side with KDB out?

Get Mkhi. Dilva will be rotated a lot and he didn’t have much of a threat against Huddersfield

I've got Mikhi but would take Silva if I had the funds, he's nailed IMO with KDB out, he'll be pulling the strings.

Don't think he's nailed but there's only really Bernardo and Gundogan in competition for the 2 spots in front of Fernandinho. I'm leaning towards Dilva I think

    Any advice?
    Hamer - (Patricio)
    Mendy - Robertson - Kabasele - (Bissaka) - (Peltier)
    Salah(C) - Mane - Bernardo - Richarlison - (Stephens)
    Aguero - Arnie - Zaha. 2FT 1.0ITB

Currently ranked 6.9K and overall I’m happy with my team. My only worry is Patricio and no Arsenal / Chelsea attack cover. Wolves were really unlucky to concede 4 goals so far - there xgc is extremely low. But I’m worried this is because they have always been behind in matches meaning the other team doesn’t attack. Also half of the time they’ve been playing 10 men. Mkhitaryan and Pedro intrigue me but I don’t want to sell Bernardo. He was affected playing wing back against Huddersfield but he seems pretty nailed and if playing CM he plays in a beautiful position off Aguero. Thoughts?

      • 10 Years

You could easily do one of Arnie or zaha --> Ings
      then kabasele --> Alonso

      1. JONALDINHO
        • 9 Years

Don’t want Alonso. Chelsea defense is awful and can’t see him keeping up attacking returns.

with 2 FTs + 1mil itb & pretty happy with you team i'd look at the GK situation or use the 1mil to upgrade Pelt to a 4.5 & give yourself more options

I've still got him and want to keep hold too. I think he'll get a run in the side - if he's not playing WB then he'll be in CM alongside Dilva.

    How is this WC team?

    Hart (Hamer)
    Alonso - Mendy - Robbo (4.0 - 4.0)
    Salah - Mkhi - Pedro - Richarlison (4.5)
    Aguero - Auba (4.5)

I love it. Exactly the structure I am thinking of. Aguero and Auba up fron with those fixtures looks awesome.

Only things--- risky to have Hart with potentially no back up? Both him and Hamer risky picks

Looks a great team right now ... not sure on Robbo as the fixtures stiffen soon and then European games [and possible rotation] come into play .... maybe TAA which gives enough itb to replace one of your 4's and the 4.5 with better bench options .... maybe a 4.5 def and a 5 mid.

    So would appriciate some thoughts.

    On WC

    Would you go:

A: Salah, Hazard, Miki, Aguero, Wilson

B: Mane, Hazard, 5,0 mid, Aguero, Auba

I'm a bit scared of not owning Auba for upcoming GWs but at the same time I feel I can't transfer out Salah cause it's just a matter of time until he scores big and then I think he will be back to last season form. Also Miki have created a lot of chanses and seems nailed.

    What do you think?

That's my thinking as well, could do salah and wilson to auba and 5,0 later I suppose. Though it would be nice to have auba in the beginning of these "easy" upcoming fixtures if he scores big against a confusing west ham defense.

Great team, think only two areas to strengthen are Lowton and keepers. Burnley will struggle this season with Europa league (take it from a Saints fan) and Bournemouth/Brighton won't see many shutouts at all.

I'd consider Tomkins for Lowton, and if you can afford Ederson for one of your keepers or downgrade one to Hamer for more cash.

How is this team instead of the one above?

    Ederson - Hamer
    Mendy - Robbo - Alonso - Bellerin (4.0)
    Salah - Mane - Mkhi - Richarlison (4.5)
    Aguero - Ings (4.5)

Need to ship out King and Sanchez to bring in Sterling and £5.8m forward.

Hey guys. Some advice would be appreciated.

    Team:

    Fab/Fos
    Mendy • Alonso • Bailly
    Mkhi • Richarlison • Pedro • Salah • Neves
    Aguero •Firmino
    [ Kamara, WBA, Peltier]

    2m ITB, 0FT.

Would you consider shipping Firmino for Aubamayang and bringing in Robertson for Bailly?

Or better to drop Firmino to Zaha and bring in Mane or Hazard?

My bad. I wouldn't sell Firmino at home to Brighton though, especially not for a hit. Maybe just go with that team and reassess next week?

    What's the better plan?

    A) Bailly > PvA, Cairney > Kante next week
    B) Roll the transfer, Cairney + Salah > Hazard + Mkhi

    1. 420king
      • 12 Years
      8 years, 20 days ago

      B imo.

    2. I Member
      • 11 Years

That's tough. I can definitely see where you're going with B. I do think the combination of Hazard and Mkhitaryan will outscore Salah and Cairney but if Mo smashes it against Brighton you'll find it difficult to go through with it.

      1. Camzy
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Yeah pretty much. And Salah will almost certainly do well against BHA. Can't see how he doesn't haul in that one.

I think rolling the transfer is correct either way. If I don't feel like doing the bold move, I can just do the two like for likes a week late. It at least gives me that option for B.
