This week the ScoutCast crew are determined to bust the myth that they share identical strategies.

Long-term maverick Luke returns to reveal his freshly Wildcarded team which bravely went into Gameweek 2 without Manchester City’s hat-trick hero Sergio Aguero and last season’s points-scoring sensation Mohamed Salah.

In stark contrast, Az is continuing his march up the rankings thanks to his faith in this premium pair, and his resolve in resisting broadsheet tittle-tattle hinting that the Argentinian would be dropped.

David is also beating a different drum and keen to explain the reasons behind his chequered FPL history and how his fortunes already look better this time around.

That leaves me as the only dullard representative, armed with a bunch of ownership statistics, a goals imminent table and a dubious ‘camping’ excuse to explain my recent poor captaincy decision.

Our differing views across a range of key issues facing Fantasy Premier League manages ahead of Gameweek 3 are aired.

Our assessment of Chelsea and Arsenal assets ahead of their favourable fixtures is top of our list. And we also ponder whether Spurs’ players can compete as assets this season and indulge in some bargain hunting up front.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Do we know what’s going on with lee peltier? And why he wasn’t even in the match day squad last week?

Just play Shaw and have peltier on the bench 2nd with WB third (assume you’re playing 3 at the back). If Shaw doesn’t play peltier might, worst case you get 0 and not -4. Assess Shaw next week and change if you really have to.

I believe it may have actually been something to do with harry arter coming in. Commentators didn’t seem overly concerned for his place. Maybe some Cardiff fans know the answer.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking currently mate... had a good start to the season 103 and 93 (6527 OR))so feel relictant to spend 4 points if it can be avoided

Great start, keep it up. A lot of others will have 4/5 of your defenders (including pelt and WB) so it’s not too much of an issue

Anyone setting aside funds to do Manè to Haz for GW4? I think this is a good compromise between divesting from Liverpool for their tougher fixtures, investing in chelsea for their good fixs. But also keeping Mo.

If Mané can get another couple of price rises there should not be 0.7-ish between them...

Plus if Mané gets double figures again this week he’s going to be on nearly 40 points from 3 games which is Shirley unsustainable.... famous last words

Stats aren't that great, although he is playing well, he did get very lucky with an offside goal and a late counter goal. Looks like a good plan.

This may be the best approach - sometimes better to be 1 game late with Haz rather than 3 or 4 games early

Question is would you bring in Mane to this squad with 3.5m banked, 1FT ???

      Foster - Fabianski
      Mendy - Robertson - A Smith - AWB - Peltier
      Salah - Mkhitaryan - BSilva - Richarlison - Stephens
      Aguero - Arnie - King

      Considering:
      A. Peltier --> Alonso
      B. BSilva --> Mane

salahs goal was a tap in, one of his assists was to win a pen and the other for manes goal when the other team had everyone forward

Can't really argue with the fact that Salah has looked the more dangerous player of the 2 though. He just wasted sooo many chances

yeah he looks more dangerous but he missed loads of chances last season as well, I don't think him having more shots than Mane means anything if he isn't finishing them as consistently

Let's not pretend that Salah wont comfortably outscore Mane... he will. Why do we have to have these conversations each season... I remember when Walcott was going to outscore Sanchez...until he didn't. Or when William was going to outscore Coutinho in the summer...

Mane is a good player - great value for his price. But he isn't nearly as central as Salah - in terms of his importance to the team, and in terms of Salah actually playing centrally. His position is closer to striker than midfield. The most league goals Mane has managed in a season was 13...Salah managed 32 last season. Mane hasn't got close to doing what Salah did.

Anybody in a work paid league? First time I'm playing for actual money. Quite exciting really! The standard is really high and I'm not used to it. I walk most of the mini-leagues I play so this is a really nice change.

I'm 14/35 with 158. Literally the top 24 all have Aguero and most of them are in the FFScout league as well. Last year's mini league winner finished 150.

If he drops soon he could easily rise back up to 4.5 in a month or two as people will see him as a 4.4m midfielder who plays. That happened with some players last year.

Just been listening to FPL General's podcast.

How much of a threat is slack to FFS?

I don't know anything about the FPL community on slack, but I guess there is more freedom in what you can say?

Is Slack a competitor? Isn't it a platform where you can talk about anything? I literally have no idea what it is. They tried to get us to use it in work but I couldn't get next to it.

It's just hyperbole. Point is, Mendy is the most important FPL asset imo. He's practically a second striker playing in defense for the best team in the league with amazing fixtures and costs 6.2m. It's beyond a steal.

I wanted to wait as long as possible to make this transfer, for hope of news on Mahrez’s prospects of starting + perhaps more info on Mkhitaryan, but it looks as though it’ll be a 0.2 swing if I wait another day.

So Mahrez -> Mkhitaryan for a hit?

Will give me 2.0 itb, which I’ll use next week to complete my formation switch, either upgrading Stephens to a 6.5 to go 5 in midfield (3-5-2), or Peltier up to Trippier to go 4 premiums in defence (4-4-2).

Yeah, definitely a concern. If I knew Mahrez would start I wouldn’t make the move, fancy anyone to score in that city team. But with that kind of doubt hanging over him each week I just don’t think the upside is worth 2million more than an in-form mkhitaryan. Thanks 🙂

Not that I’ve seen. I’ve tried searching around but haven’t found much. Which would suggest to me:

      1) More likely dropped. News of injury/illness is usually reported on by someone, even if the relevant player is fringe.
      2) He’s not considered a particularly important player by fans.

I dont see the point in giving yourself a benching headache, whilst limiting your goalkeeping points. You are benching Ings ahead of a great home fixture and stuck with a terrible keeping option in Hamer, and a Palace goalkeeper when you also have AWB.

Will FPLstatistics still show the net transfers in from WCs? So even if a player is over 100% he might not rise if some of the transfers in are WCs?

Yeah he might not rise if over 100%. Players didnt yesterday. It's distorted by WCs which dont influence prices and is inexact anyhow.
