I think it'll be viable to ditch Salah for Mané if Mané can outscore him one more GW. The 3m+ funds Mané provides can be crucial to fit in all these other attacking and expensive defensive options at the moment without losing too many points as it seems...

I’ve been thinking this all preseason and the first two weeks.

Then I saw Salah’s xG, the goals and points will come. He looks good for another 4 goal haul at some point!

True but while waiting for that haul that +3m value could have easily upgraded a similar return of points in total elsewhere, for example, a simple Peltier to Alonso switch (if you don't have him already) can make more than enough of a difference.

If you're in a position where you HAVE to start Peltier, then yes. But if you have a well balanced squad and your bench fodders are, well, bench fodding, then Salah is essential

I agree. Hence this comparison of A vs B is not helpful without considering the entire squad.

Agreed. Time may say differently, but how many times do we get burnt waiting for the premium player big hauls

Maybe, if comfortable with consistent alternative captains.

It isn't a case of Salah vs Mane when so many teams have both of them. I'll start to think about it if Kane, Aubameyang, Hazard and other premium players are outscoring Salah.

      1. Ibralicious
        • 12 Years

Fairs, but I only had enough funds in midfield to fit one of them due to Salah's price tag. Could be a very logical move to ship him for Mane and upgrade elsewhere once 2 FTs are at my disposal.

        1. rodog
          • 10 Years

Hey man, I did this exact thing earlier this week - Mane was going up and just thought 'get him in'. And i got rid of Boly (4.5) and got Alonso. At the moment I think it's well worth it. When Salah gets a hat trick then I'll have to consider a WC haha. But I do think that for every game that Salah doesn't get at least 6 points (first two games have got slightly more), then his pricetag isn't good value for money. He's also not on pens...

That does look like the case at the moment... The longer I avoid Mané, the harder it becomes for me to squeeze him in. :/

For me Salah still doing what he did last season and will get some big hauls again soon. Still up there as centre forward on his own at times. As a midfielder still gold dust due to extra points on offer and playing out of position. If I captn him and he gets a big haul could really get ahead of someone without him. Not sure I can justify leaving him out on the basis I can get other players in at present

    Any thoughts on this?

    Hennessey
    Alonso Mendy TAA
    D.Silva Salah Pedro Mkhi Rich
    Aguero Zaha
    (Ryan Ings 4.5 AWB)

    Hennessey/Ryan - fixtures
TAA - not sure given tot, che, MCi next 6 but in atm
4.5 def - probably Newcastle for filler games.
Pedro - form/fixtures, from what I've read suits Sarri's system
Mkhi - not up for 2 Ars yet, looks better value at 7m than Auba at 11m
D.Silva - just like everything about him
    Zaha - fixtures, eyeball
Ings - some rotation risk with mids so want a decentish backup

Tough one. I would generally favour the attacker.

Ings! A PvA goal is worth 2 more points than an Ings goal and also has a higher ceiling. Palace love playing Watford and despite their opening form, I expect the usual CPFC targets to be among the points this weekend

Pick one (I have 2 FT)
    A) Eriksen and king - > D. Silva and Ings
    B) Eriksen and king - > Ings and Mane
    C) Tarkowski, Eriksen, King- > Alonso and D. Silva and Ings (-4)

    My current team :
    Foster
    Robertson Tarkowski Mendy
    Richarlison Salah Eriksen Mikhi
    Aguero Zaha King
Bench: Fabianski Neves Daniels Wan B

    Patricio // Hamer

    Mendy // B Davies // TAA // Tomkins // AWB*;

    Salah // Mane // Richarlison // B Silva // Stephens;

    Zaha // Kun // Arnautovic;

                Nit-picking.

Ederson is nailed. Mendy is as good as. Fernandinho is as good as. And after that, Kun. I'm confident enough to own 3 of them as season-keepers.

    Ryan
    Robertson Mendy Tomkins
    X X Bilva Richarlison
    Aguero Auba X

    a) Salah - Maddison - Arnie
    b) Mane - Hazard - Wilson (or Jimenez and 0.6 itb to upgrade the bench)

Bavies as he is less of a rotation risk considering Spurs are desperate to sell Rose and he can play CB.

In theory it should be Trippier as Aurier is garbage.

Three premiums seems to be the MO if you also want a strong backline, but it's very hard to know which to go with. What is your order of preference for the next 6 or so fixtures from these lads?
    A. Salah
    B. Mane
    C. Kun
    D. Hazard
    E. Auba
    F. Kane

    Afternoon, all. Had an idea.

Could we compile some sort of list of (reletavely decent) website message boards for every club - ones that usually give a decent impression of how the fanbase is feeling about various players and issues? For example, I'm an Evertonian and the much-maligned ToffeeWeb.com is at least frequented by fans who actually go to games, which can be useful.

I often find myself searching around various blogs for other clubs without really finding a decent forum with a healthy exchanging of views.

    Know what I mean?

A couple of months into last season, people were moaning about Salah's wastefulness in front of goal. This season is nothing new. His team mates will create more chances for him to score, so whilst he might not do as well as last season, i think he will have more high chance opportunities to do so.

    1. MTPockets
      8 years, 4 days ago

I get it from a price perspective, not from a watching the games perspective. Mane's been a bit lucky with pts vs Salah, but each to their own.

    Foster
    Mendy Robertson PVA
    Salah Mané Richarlison B.Silva
    Aguero Zaha King

    Bench: Fab Peltier AWB Stephens

Was planning on doing King, B.Silva, PVA —> Ings, Mkhi, Alonso

    Best Spurs defender?

    A) Trippier - on set pieces and first choice, albeit Aurier will probably steal some of his minutes
    B) Bavies - great stats and minimal competition (if Rose does indeed leave before the deadline)
    C) Vert - nailed

I'm so afraid of rotation. If they have been nailed both Trippier and Davies would have peen excellent options
