Kaking myself trying to choose skipper between Kun, Aubameyang and Mane...

    Pros and Cons?

      Exactly the same conundrum here...

I'm currently on Mané due to home fixture and form.

Think I might do the same...Auba would be risky after the Chelsea game but something tells me he's gonna go mental and bag a couple...

The guy above said that Mane has been covering Salah which is pretty ridiculous.

I know people bring up and compare their underlying stats and all but Mane has for a fact outscored him, even it's just so far. And going Mane over Salah has given my team an extra 3.5m to spend elsewhere which is really really handy.

                    1. Hanked

                      Ye, I agree.

I don't really agree with 'cover', whether it's in regards to a team or a player, the game is about long term points maximisation rather than worrying about short term variance.

However, that's the reason why I like looking at the underlying stats. I like to separate the outcomes from the expected outcomes. Looking at points returns tells us about the past, where as looking at the underlying stats tells us about what we might expect to happen in the future.

In this specific case, you get an extra 3.5 to use elsewhere, which needs to be factored in. You can justify not having Salah even if he outscores Mane, assuming that the Mane plus the extra 3.5 generates more points.

I'm sticking with Salah for now because I see him as the best captaincy option most weeks but that could change as the season goes on.

To everyone getting in Ings, are you not worried about his injury history. Dude is made of glass + when he does pick up that knock 5.5 is an awkward price to shift.

This is putting me off I agree with the price thing but he does look the best 3rd striker option and helps spread the funds enough to have a good bench to last until you can get a solution

Agreed. He looks the best cheap option. I've got Kun, Aguero, Zaha and made my 4th mid my cheaper option. Not sure it will pan out. I do like Ings was a huge fan when he was at Burnley.

He seemed to have 2 big injuries in the past and stayed injury free for the last year. I would not call it "made of glass", for that definition see Kompany (4 injuries per year for last 3 years). If I were a real club manager I would be more concerned about his injury record but as an FPL manager I am more concerned about his current form, stats, points, fixture and price. For me, he is ticking all of those boxes at the moment. Besides, he looks very fit and lively on the pitch. On the other hand, when I find a decent 5,5 FWD (or any cheap but good player), I never think about who would I get instead if he is injured. There are always alternatives for any player either by upgrading or downgrading.

I have him too... he played in the community shield and looked like he might get some game time at some point. At 4.5 i thought it was worth a gamble bc I didn't expect him to go down in price. Worst case scenario I get rid whenever I wildcard and have a single non-playing player on my bench

No city player i nailed, but one can reason that Silva should have more gametime as KDB is on crutches. Not a bad pick imo.

Impossible to say. I don't think so, based on Pep's comments about BSilva being awesome and DSilvas playtime should be less than last year. Maybe he is for the period KDB is out, maybe not.

I have a dilemma. Here is my team

    Foster, Fabianski
    Robbo, Mendy, Shaw, Dunk, Wan-Bissaka
    B.Silva, Salah, Mane, Neves, Kante
    Arnie, Aguero, Mitrovic

Dunk and Shaw injured, W-B suspended. Do I wildcard and get new defenders? Also thinking of taking out Silva and Neves for Richarliason and Mkhtaryian. This would mean getting cheaper defenders though. Or do i just take the lack of points for one week?

Afternoon ladies and gentlemen, quick question. How do people think West Ham will fare away to Arsenal? Is this the game for Arsenal to finally show some defensive resilience? Currently debating whether to start Fraser or Ings over Arnautovic.

Can't see Arsenal keeping a cleanie, they've looked so out of sorts at the back. That being said I think they'll beat on West Ham. 4-1/ 4-2 something like that.

Also - the way I convice myself is like the AWB example from GW1 - if your 3rd striker or 5th mid or 5th defender do well, you will feel good about your team anyway (+ price rises). But you will kick yourself if Arnie scores and you played Ings instead

I haven't yet, but planning on it. Just want a stronger bench warmer than Stephens in case needed. Fraser / Ings rotate quite well over their tricky fixtures.

If you have Arnie, I'd play him every week. His goals don't neccessarily come against the weaker teams. I'd play him ahead of both of those.

      I'd bench Fraser.

I'm not sure about Alli just yet, Spurs fixtures are quite tough and he can be pretty erratic in his form.

I think Kante is a better pick than Jorgino, but personally i would either downgrade him to a 4.5 and find some more money from somewhere to upgrade Alli to Hazard, or downgrade Alli and upgrade Jorgino or TAA to Robertson.

It's unclear. Wales online says decision to drop was tactical. Whether that means he is out of favour completely, or whether it was just for that game remains to be seen. I'm holding out of necessity for now and hoping he makes a reappearance.

Yes leaning towards getting rid of King esp fearing more price drop may be around the corner next week. Ings and Mitro two choices right now or upgrade it to Firmino with no form and may be rotated for Sturridge or Shaq soon

Do not get rid of King for ings. King will come good. He'll out score ings over the next 5 games for sure.

Used WC this week despite strong start
    Ederson
    Mendy Robertson Alonso
    Salah Mane Mkhi Richarlison Pedro
    Aguero Ings
Bench - Hamer, Kamara, AWB, Bennett

Bench is weak but looking at the fixtures, the team picks itself for a month straight
