Fantasy Premier League managers have been presented with a much more clear-cut captaincy discussion this week, but there’s still plenty to analyse before the Gameweek 3 deadline.

Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) is the stand-out candidate with Liverpool hosting Brighton and Hove Albion, while Sergio Aguero (£11.0m) is his main competitor.

However, there are, as ever some interesting differential candidates worth looking at.

We’ve gone over the results of our most recent poll and the underlying data to help you pick the best one once again.

THE CAPTAIN POLL

It is Salah who runs away with our Captain Poll for the second time this season. As of Saturday morining around 16,000 Fantasy managers had cast their vote to give the Egyptian a 48 percent share.

However, even though a home fixture against Brighton is considered just as appealing as the Gameweek 1 hosting of West Ham, Salah should fall well short of the majority he enjoyed for the first weekend of the season.

49.74 percentage points separated him and Gameweek 1 runner-up Aguero two weeks ago. This time around the gap is much smaller, the Manchester City man’s 22 percent backing trimming Salah’s lead to just 26 percent.

There are two main factors in why that change has occurred. The first is Aguero himself, who has emerged as a much stronger candidate than was initially expected following his Gameweek 2 hat-trick against Huddersfield. No player in the league has had as many shots on goal as Aguero and this week he travels to face a Wolves defence that has already been breached four times. The only thing that tempers Aguero’s appeal will be rotation once again. While he has now started the last 15 home matches that he was fit and available for, on the road in 2017/18 Gabriel Jesus (£10.5m) featured from the beginning more times than him, 12 starts to eight.

The second factor has been the form of Sadio Mané (£9.8m), who has outscored Salah in both Gameweeks so far and has matched him for shots in the box (six) and accurate ones too (four). So it’s no surprise to see the Senegalese international in the running for a third-place finish in the poll this week, with eight percent of the votes.

Expected to run Mané close for third place is Arsenal’s main man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m). He is also around the eight percent mark ahead of an appealing fixture, this week at home to West Ham, even after blanking in the first two outings of 2018/19. Those backing Aubameyang may well be members of the Salah-less 45 percent who are worried about Aguero’s place in the Man City side.

Benjamin Mendy (£6.2m) completes the poll’s current top five after continuing his fine start to the season against Huddersfield. The Manchester City defender has four assists in his first two matches and has touched the ball in opposing final thirds more often than anyone else in his classification.

If you keep for one more week you could possibly do a double transfer involving Hazard next week.

Thanks. Might look into Hazard but I've found him to be quite frustrating, having an absolute stormer one week but then very quiet for the next couple.

The Man City game tomorrow is 12:30, so there's a chance we can view the team sheet with a minute or two spare to change captain or whatever.

My question is where is the very first place we can view the team sheet? Will it be the Man City official twitter feed?

This, since AWB can be your 4th choice DEF if needed. Pereira or Chilwell would be my recommendation. Pereira has the bandwagon, but Chilwell has looked more threatening in like a Ben Davies to Trippier kind of way

Salah hasn't looked as involved this year , but that not down to form it's more of a positional change. He's playing a more central role.with Firmino dropping deeper. He seems to have his back to goal more of the time now. highly dangerous for non owners like me ..

Bit of both really. Main reason being Brighton’s away record, Dunk being out plus Liverpool’s home record. I think there’s a better chance of a high Firmino points haul than Auba this week. Next week I fancy Auba more

Mkhi ... He won't play attacking defence like Chelsea and Man City every week. West Ham will try to get the first point of season and keep it tight.

Eriksen ... Brighton scored 3 goals against United. A clear potential for Eriksen to excel.

Alonso ... He caused problem to Chelsea defence last week. No one know what Sarri will do with his full-back.

Daniels ... It's usually high-scoring game vs Everton and Daniels could do well in this attacking battlefield.

I just try to give the reasons. Haha

I've got the most terrible feeling of dread that I'm going to have an awful game week. I panicked chasing the price rises and got Alonso, Ings and Richarlison in for Eriksen, King and S.Cook. Poorly planned. Still have Cairney in my team. Afraid Firmino will be benched. Ugh.

        The Guardian says...

        2) Klopp to tinker with attacking options?
Two games, two wins, six goals scored and none conceded. It has been a superb start to the season for Liverpool and it is hard to see how Brighton can do anything to stop the red juggernaut in its tracks. Ahead of their trip to Anfield, Chris Hughton and his players can at least take some hope from the performance of Jürgen Klopp’s front three at Crystal Palace on Monday. There was a distinct lack of fluidity between Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah and while they all played a part in the 2-0 victory, they were not at their best, individually or collectively. All three will no doubt improve as the season goes on but Klopp may use Saturday’s game as an early opportunity to mix things up in attack by giving Daniel Sturridge or Xherdan Shaqiri a start, or using Firmino in a deeper role. With plenty of games to come this season, it may be a wise move for the Liverpool manager to keep opponents on their toes, as well as plan for those moments when his main men in attack are injured, suspended or off their game

Still going with DDG but he's looked a bit disinterested in the first two games, not bothered that he was conceding.

Need to bench one... (draft league)

    A. Pogba (TOT)
    B. Ings (LEI)
    C. Maddison (sou)

Currently benching Pogba as feel he'll be given less license against Spurs, but that doesn't feel right.

The Guardian seems to suggest that Firmino might be benched? Here's a bit from their 10 things to watch out for this weekend PL preview...

I saw something on sky sports where Liverpool had the best or second best defence for stuff like clean sheets, goals conceded etc. Their defence has been good.

can't fit Alonso in when you already have kepa or Luiz in the team.

      Doesn’t surprise me that much.

Alonso still a maybe for a lot because of the lack of clean sheets he will get and will he get replaced when Sarri realises he can’t actually defend.

With Robbo people are going TAA to save money. Robbo better pick but whether he’s worth 1m more many aren’t sure.

No excuse to not have Mendy.

Sounds about right, vast majority of players won't spend that much in defence and most people haven't wildcarded yet. It's a wonderful trio, but wouldve been v maverick move to start the season with all three.

Goes to show that you don't necessarily need to seek out low owned differentials to gain an edge. I always see comments like that's so template when in reality owning a combination of template players isn't that common.
