Richarlson to Neves allows me to get Alonson in for Peltier... do it or not??

    DDG
    AWB - Robertson - Mendy
    Mane - Salah - Richarlson - Mkhi
    Ings - Kun - Zaha

    Hamer - Tomkins - Stephens - Peltier

Yeah I’ve had Auba since the start and going to hold. But a blank v Cardiff with a break in between and Kane or hazard may become tempting.

Liverpool's fixtures between the two international breaks, GW5-8:

    Sat: Spurs (A) - Prem
    Tue: PSG (H) - UCL
    Sat: Southampton (H) - Prem
    Tue: Chelsea (H) - EFL
    Sat: Chelsea (a) - Prem
    Wed: Napoli (a) - UCL
    Sun: City (H) - Prem

    Tough!

If the stars aren't outright rotated, they'll be certainly seeing reduced minutes at different stages, especially with Liverpool now having much more capable replacements.

Time to jump off triple Liverpool?

Lot of money in a player who'll be rested in plenty of those games. Brave maybe disregarding ownership but GW4 is not the time to worry about that. If you make a mistake it's easy to correct.

Plenty of rest time between most of those games. Only issue may be between the Southampton and Chelsea EFL game. After that 3 days rest, which is plenty, in between the fixtures. You have to think Salah should play nearly all of them, maybe coming out early against Spurs to get a bit of extra rest.

With the investments made in the likes of Keita, Fabinho and Shaqiri etc I would assume rotation would be a stinger possibility this year.

      • ZimZalabim
        • 9 Years
        7 years, 7 months ago

I would expect max rotation will be in midfield and the full backs with the saints game the only risk for one of the front three which ever one has a knock or some fatigue.

The chelsea game in the EFL will definitely be a write off in the sense that max rotation will happen then.

Liverpool will have to play full strength or as close to in the other games. The main rotation will happen after this period, like last year - November and the back to back games with red star.

        1. Rainer
          • 9 Years
          7 years, 7 months ago

Yeah the big worry for FPL would be your players missing the Saints game. A Robbo, Mane & Salah (C) setup could really bite back that GW, if full backs were rotated and Shaqiri brought in.

EFL should be a night off for many but Klopp needs to win a trophy and with Chelsea in Europa they'll rest their starters the previous midweek so may field a stronger team - it wouldn't be a good game to lose at Anfield!

          It'll be an interesting period.

            • 9 Years

I would expect that something like that will happen for the saints game. I think this gw is the last for the triple up.
But i think people will have to monitor the break and spurs game and probably just keep one after that and probably look to wild card after the city game during that international break.

But liverpool will def score goals in those big league games so even keeping an attacking double up could be worth it even if one gets reduced mins vs Saints. It could end up being a key differential.

The Premier League and Champions League trophies will be Liverpool's priorities.
The League Cup is just a consolation prize.
If they try too hard in all three then they may not win any of them.

I think it could be time to off load one or maybe two, but not jump off completely.
The fact that Hazard is looking great in Sarri ball, with a good fixtures make the Salah to Hazard tempting.
With Mane and a defender already in many peoples team I think its a good move.

To put it into perspective, the money you save from Salah to Hazard will give you the posibility to upgrade a 4,3 defender into Alonso. And if you have some money in the bank, even Peltier to Alonso.

      • Dybala10
        • 8 Years

Was planning on switching Robertson out for this period in pre-season anyway and this solidifies my thinking. For the sake of getting in Alonso it seems such an obvious move.

Hard to believe listing fixtures is enough for a hulk.

Liverpool raises it for the big games.

EFL Cup will see players rest plus fake international injuries.

Premier League and Champions League games are tough not sure we will see such widescale rotation this early, players are fresh. Season is three games deep.

We already knew that Liverpool had some difficult Premier League fixtures coming up, but now we also know that they have some difficult Champions League and League Cup fixtures too.

There have been quite a few posts on this topic already this evening, and it is good to keep them most of them together in one Hot Topic.

I might be wrong but wasn't there a hot topic or article relatively recently showing that Salah at least *had* fared worse against the big teams?

The idea that Liverpool raise it against the big teams is nice but I would be very surprised if that actually turned out to be true in terms of their fantasy returns.

Salah scored against every big team except United last season.

However, I believe the post was that most of them were at home and he blanked a few times away from home.

Personally I don’t see much rotation happening in the league. Liverpool have a genuine title chance this year and they dropped some easy points when rotating around Xmas time last year so I don’t think Klopp will risk it. When you’re up against this City team every point counts and you can’t afford to pick and choose when your star players play because if you get it wrong even once you could be left with a ‘what if’ feeling come May

Can't see Salah and Mané losing too many mins in the Prem/CL.

Robertson maybe more rotation, but still the first choice.

Not sure why everyone thinks Shaqiri and Sturridge are suddenly going to get anything more than the League Cup and half an hour in games they've already sown up.

Sat: Spurs (A) - Prem -- some rotation (Moreno, Shaq, midfield players)
Tue: PSG (H) - UCL -- the best XI
Sat: Southampton (H) - Prem -- the best XI (two home games, 4 days between them)
Tue: Chelsea (H) - EFL -- max rotation
Sat: Chelsea (a) - Prem -- the best XI, maybe 1-2 rotations
Wed: Napoli (a) - UCL -- the best XI (4 days of rest)
Sun: City (H) - Prem -- the best XI, maybe 1-2 rotations.

Almost bang on and I don't think Spurs (A) is a game they'll rotate in, when it's against one of your big rivals in the competition you want to win the most. Just silly overthinking all around.

This makes sense pretty much, particularly for the Southampton game which is my main concern.

They aren’t going to rest players before the EFL cup. The EFL cup is when they rest players, especially when it’s followed by a league game vs Chelsea.

Already sold Salah for Hazard in what is certainly a very risky move and will likely swap Firmino for Vardy soon. Less sure what I'll do with Robertson.

The Southampton game is the only one that *really* worries me as Salah will be such a heavy captaincy pick. Hopefully that's where his minutes will be limited.

Beyond that I'm happy to play the fixtures and go with other options.

They scored 4 goals vs City last season, think Alonso will have big problems vs Salah.

Nice. Have been keeping an eye on this fixture run.

I fancy Mané(c) v Southampton(H) during that run, so if I do end up losing triple Liverpool, it will be Salah > Hazard or funds for Kane.

TAA at 5m, is benchable btw. I have Perreira and AWB as 4th and 5th defenders so don’t feel the pressure to sell because of fixtures. That said, you wouldn’t want to bench Robertson but it’ll be interesting to see if owners stick by him if rotation occurs.

I don't see what's the big deal to be honest. You don't try to win the league and then go about rotating there 3 weeks in the season, unless you're Rafa. That EFL game is a writeoff anyway, and he can play Shakira and Solanke all he wants. 75 mins the big guns get in the 3 games a week run.

After Sou I will do Salah + Firmino to Eriksen + Kane. Dont have captain for liv vs city so Kane vs Cardiff should do good. Also after gw 8 good time to wildcard so can bring back salah

        Classic FPL overthinking.

The EFL game will be max rotation, they won't care if they go out of that.

Take that one out and look at the rest between the other games:

        3 days
        4 days
        7 days
        4 days
        4 days

Might see a couple of changes to freshen things up, but it's not going to be mass rotation, they want to win the league. If your asset gets caught up in changes then that is what your bench is for.

        v spurs: Best XI
        v PSG: Best XI
        v Soton: Expect rotation
        v CFC: Further rotation
        v CFC: Best XI
        v Napoli: Best XI
        V City: Best XI

"Best XI" might see minor rotation. But thats how i see Klopp's selection over the coming period. I don't for a second buy in to the hype of 3Xpool being a nessesity over the upcoming period. Those that dont have other fires to put out, might justly look to shift TAA/VVD/Robbo and Mane.

I'm not against punting on going without salah either. The captaincy against SOT might look like the biggest danger, but I would not be surprised at all, if that was the game he got benched. The only thing about Salah is the amount of transfers a round trip would require. If one gets rid, and the plan is to get back in gwk9, then thats 3-4 transfers tied over that period, basically revolving around one player. A gwk9 wildcard would mitigate all this, and is not an idea im opposed, as nufc, brighton and leicester assets looks really tasty going forward from that point onwards.

I think we'll see the bulk of rotation in the EFL game vs Chelsea.

or maybe one of Mane/Salah rested vs Southampton and the other in the EFL game with Shaqiri starting them 2, also remember sturridge is back and may replace firmino in one of those 2 games.

        Wing backs the same.

If rotated during one game it means they have a good week break in between the congestion.

I can't see Klopp resting many against Spurs/Chelsea or City in the league as they're all huge games. The two CL games are huge however there could be some vs Napoli if we get a good result against PSG.

The bulk of energy is needed in the centre of the park for how we play. This is where i expect to see the most rotation between Milner, Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Keita for those 3 positions in the middle.

How does this compare to the other teams in UCL though? It's all relative if they have a similar schedule they have equal change of rotation.

There will be rotation, but the first two matches are too important, both in the league and the start of chl, and then 4 days rest, both at home so no travels), then a EFL match which there will be rotation and that leaves you with one week off for the attackers, possibly also some others. Then three matches in a week, i can´t see much of rotation there, possibly one or two changes. Liverpools rotation spinwheel will occur later, before and perhaps during the christmas period, like last year. If memory serves me right, Klopp didn´t rotate so much before we entered into the late november and december. Having three is nonetheless not in my plan, though. Partly because of fixture but also because some of the other top teams have nice fixtures in that period. To have for example 2 from Pool, 2 city, 1 arsenal, 1 or 2 from chelsea seems good in the next 7-8weeks.

from what ive seen he is still a bit off to the boil but should come good. personally I think we will see his best when Laca starts with him and he goes back on a wing. his pace get him plenty of chances from running from further back.

Firm I feel will start getting points again soon so which ever way you went should balance out short term.

Has it always been the case that you can see how many transfers your mini-league rivals have made prior to the deadline? I just went onto my rival's team and saw the following lines - "Gameweek Transfers: 1" and "Total Transfers: 5". He's taken two -4 hits after each week so far and View Transfer History only lists four transfers, so I'm assuming he's made just the one change this week...

Is this a new feature? Or have I just been blind to it for many seasons?

Or if you want the back 5 which I wouldn’t advice then drop Bilva or Walcott, NOT Arnie

Yes. Either downgrade him or start him

With todays draw I will not captain Salah once before Gameweek 9.
This combined with Liverpools tough fixtures (thanks Rainer):

            Sat: Spurs (A) - Prem
            Tue: PSG (H) - UCL
            Sat: Southampton (H) - Prem
            Tue: Chelsea (H) - EFL
            Sat: Chelsea (A) - Prem
            Wed: Napoli (A) - UCL
            Sun: City (H) - Prem

..and the fact that Hazard is looking great in Sarri ball, with a good fixtures make the Salah to Hazard move even more tempting.
With Mane and a defender already in many peoples team I think its a good move.
One could disagree and find it insane, but 13 mill not captained seems like bad use of 13mill.

            What do you think?

To put it into perspective, the money you save from Salah to Hazard will give you the posibility to upgrade a 4,4 defender into Alonso.
And if you have some money in the bank, even Peltier to Alonso.

Lads, in abit of a tricky position here!

I subbed pic out for Walcott, fine.

But I don't know whether to have 5-3-2 or 4-4-2.

            Mendy, Shaw, Robertson, Alonso, Wan-Bissaka
            Salah, Walcott, Mkhitaryan, Mane,
            Zaha, Aguero.

Should I put Mkhitaryan on the bench and play 5 at the back or have Wan-Bissaka on the bench and play Mkhitaryan?

Not looking to take a hit or anything, just unsure best approach?

            Thanks!

I would actually put Shaw on the bench.
United are not themselves atm, and Shaw cant relt on attacking points

I had him on my bench originally to be fair but I thought given the fixture surely he should return points. Thanks I'll have a think.
