More names from our panel of Fantasy Premier League managers are back to answer your questions, this time as we go into the first international break of the campaign.

The big question which we’ve had plenty of submissions on is whether Mohamed Salah (£13.om) should come out of our squads.

We’ve got some opinion on that conundrum while the subjects of transfers during the international break and Wildcard tips are also discussed.

Once again, we had an overwhelming response to our request for questions. Unfortunately, we can only answer a handful each week but keep your queries coming in for the rest of the season.

Here’s a reminder of who is on the panel for your Gameweek 4 Question Time:

James Egersdorff – You can’t get much more experienced than this man when it comes to FPL. After yet another season inside the top 5,000 managers in 2017/18, James is a Fantasy Football Scout ‘Hall of Fame’ legend.

Tom from Who Got the Assist? – One half of one of the fastest growing FPL podcasts of recent times.

Holly Shand – Founder of the popular Fantasy Football Community website and recent video star for Official FPL.

QUESTION ONE – JAMES EGERSDORFF

Do we have enough information to be reasonably sure that Mane provides a better points return over Salah and if so, should we be looking to move Salah on?

James: “The lack of a double-digit return from the ‘Egyptian King’, combined with the smoking hot start to the season from Mané has led many FPL managers (myself included!) to investigate the possibility of doing the unthinkable and removing Salah from our squads.

“As a pre-Gameweek 4 Wildcarder, it’s fair to say the idea of cashing in on Salah did look attractive. I spent the week tinkering with my squad given with treasure trove of riches his £13m opened up. It looked like a combination of Mané and Hazard versus Salah and a (roughly) £7m midfielder here.

“It’s definitely a tough choice. We’ve only had four Gameweeks played and therefore only a small sample of data to base such a potentially season-defining decision on. So I kept the Egyptian in my squad.

“We must ask ourselves ‘do we feel that Mané and Salah will maintain their current performance levels?’ Mané is flying right now, with a score of 9.8 per game to Salah’s 6.8. To put that into context, if they were to continue that over 38 Gameweeks, Mané would smash the all-time FPL high score record (303 set by Salah last season) with a whopping 372. Do we really think he’s capable of doing that?

“On the other hand, Salah would weigh in with just over 258, which in fairness isn’t a million miles away from his optimum points per game levels seen in 2017/18.

“Working the figures again, this tells us Salah is underperforming against last year’s figures by around 15 percent, whereas Mane is massively overperforming, even when we factor in his 10-game absence last season.

“The question FPL managers need to ask themselves therefore is whether they feel Salah will make up the performance level deficit and return to the mean and whether Mane can continue to outperform his mean score by such a high margin.”

QUESTION TWO – HOLLY SHAND

How much team value can you potentially earn playing your Wildcard during the international break and is it worth using if your squad doesn’t need a major fix?

Holly: “The international break tends to be a steadier time for price rises and falls than many expect. So I’d expect perhaps just one or two players rising twice, to give the all important £0.1 million gained value.

“However, if you cannot afford the price swings to ditch underperforming assets for the in-form players, the Wildcard can still be valuable.

“Beware the fixture swings and chasing early season points though.

“Liverpool in particular have a tricky upcoming spell.”

QUESTION THREE – TOM

If you are not planning to use the Wildcard for Gameweek 5, how many point hits should we consider taking to make up an injury and suspension filled squad? Also, should we be making early transfer considering how fast players prices are rising?

Tom: “How many hits should we consider? Well, obviously this depends very much on your team and what the situation is.

“If you are dead set on keeping your Wildcard, I’d focus on getting a good XI out for Gameweek 5, after International Break, rather than fixing bench fodder – unless you are doing a combination move as part of your hit (i.e. moving a £4.5 defender down to a £4.0 to free up cash).

“That being said, I’d be thinking that if you need multiple hits to deal with your team’s injuries and suspensions then there’s no need to be stubborn about pulling your wildcard; your squad needs it.

“Should we make early transfers considering how fast players’ prices rise? It depends in what context.

“If there’s little to no midweek action, as we’ve seen at the start of this season, then an early transfer is a risk that can be worth taking.

“However as we saw with Wilfried Zaha and Kevin de Bruyne picking up training ground knocks you are never immune from a shock injury.

“But as we start to enter the period where continental football and other cup competitions return, I’d advise being more cautious with your early transfers as you may end up needing a hit to fix an impetuous move.

“Essentially: you’ll remember your overall rank at the end of the season, not your team value.”

Should I lose Mkhi before Walcott on the basis that if Walcott is out there is no danger of 1 minute cameos like there is with Mkhi and I'll get a decent auto sub with S.Cook against Lei?

I’m keeping both for next week, when I’ve got 2 FT’s & another GW of data it should help... both of their fixtures are still very strong

Agree with this too. Richarlison looks by far the best option in that price bracket when he's back. Maddison could be a decent pick but I'd rather wait a week and hope Mkhi plays then if he doesn't get Richarlison.

Is it worth wildcarding? I’ve had a great start to the season, but there’s a few weak players drifting in and I’m missing some essentials like Alonso.

      Hennessy
Robertson - Mendy - Wan Bissaka
      Salah - Mane - Walcott - Mhikitaryan
      Zaha - Aguero - Arnautovic

      Stekelenburg - Peltier - Cairney - Kabasele

        Walcott - wait on news
Mkhi - give 1 more GW
Zaha - priority transfer it seems
Arnie - West Ham are showing
Peltier - surely bench fodder and assuming you have already taken hit

Out of this Zaha and possibly Arnie need to go, not enough to WC

Cairney's injury and price fall have messed things up for me.

Only way of getting Alonso is transferring out Robbo(-4) or taking an 8 point hit. Would either be worth it or should I continue without Alonso?

Think Robbo out is worth it given fixtures. Maybe wait a few days as Alonso has already risen and Robbo due to rise again soon (if it impacts your SV).

      Foster - > Patricio
      Robertson - > Shaw
      B. Silva - > D. Silva

Definitely not. Maybe just zaha>Mitro if he’s injured for a while, or Bilva and Walcott to Dilva and Fraser, but not worth wildcarding.

Spurs looked so bad at the back yesterday, i see Liverpool easily exploiting their defensive frailties, and Salah could easily score. Also, what are the Salah sellers hiding behind for the Southampton home game???

        Well said.

Of course Salah can score against Spurs, he can score against anyone, but Hazard has a much easier fixture. I must admit I won't be comfortable going into the Southampton game without him but Aguero (car), Hazard (whu) and Mane (SOU) are all viable alternatives for the armband.

Liv play Spurs then PSG on the 15th and 18th. Salah won't get 90 mins against Southampton on the 22nd. Most sellers think he won't even start that game.

Despite my intention to digitally disconnect after a torrid two GW's, I find myself agonising over whether to activate my WC, as many do.

This is my current team, and had hoped it would see me through to at least GW7/8 when fixtures shift, but stars have not aligned for me, and my current OR is 700k.

      Fab - Foster
      VVD - Mendy - WBA - Bennett - Tomkins
      Hazard - Salah - Mkhi - Walcott - Pedro
      Ings - Aguero - King

Reckon I can still get a decent XI out for GW's 5 & 6 depending on injuries.

      Any suggestions?

Having some thoughts and would like to know what you guys think.

Currently sitting at 100k, already used my wildcard to get in some quality players before their prices made them unattainable.

      Current squad:
      Ederson Hamer
Robertson Mendy Alonso Wan-Bissaka Steve Cook
      Salah Mané Pedro Walcott Guendouzi
      Agüero Wilson Ings

My thinking is as follows: 1) Liverpool have some tough fixtures coming up. 2) Hazard is creating a hell of a lot of chances. 3) Laca finally started and grabbed a goal and an assist (admittedly against Cardiff, but some promising fixtures coming up).

SO, do I take an 8-point hit, taking out:
      Salah (I know, I know...)
Ings (Brighton at home, Liverpool away, Wolves away, Chelsea at home in the next 4 GWs)
and Walcott (because screw him--I brought him in last week and he immediately got injured and Richy will be back soon)

      for

Hazard (creating lots of chances, equal points to Salah for fewer minutes and at home to Cardiff next week)
Lacazette (favourable run for Arsenal and hopefully his value up front alongside Auba will convince Emeri to start him consistently)
Seri (while Fulham have some tough fixtures ahead, I could still see Mitrovic getting the goals and Seri could be a cheaper way into assist points than Schürrle et al)

The crux of the matter is, will Hazard, Laca and Seri outscore Salah, Walcott and Ings? I'm currently leaning towards yes. I still have Mané who is handy for goals and assists (and bonus points, something Salah is yet to achieve), and if Salah starts to turn on the magic, downgrading a striker to bring him back in for his teammate could be done pretty quickly.

      Thoughts, ladies and gents?

neither due a drop, and neither injuries seem like they would last 2 weeks.

salah to haz could pay off but IMO that was last week's move. i would still do it, but i would probably leave it till after the IB as we could have more to worry about later...

For Walcott, it's not the severity of the injury keeping him out, it's the knock to his confidence just when he was starting to perform.

And yes, as pointed out by FPL Guru, this is indeed a lengthy post, but should only take a minute for people with an average reading ability. So, perfect for your 3 o'clock poop or to distract you from this hellish facade of a life.

Liverpool don't have tough fixtures coming up, just tougher than the last 4. They'll still score goals. Don't take an 8 point hit.

Fair comment, although I notice you just took your last remaining Pool player out of your own squad last week 😉

I did. Because I think he's overpriced for current returns and 6-8m mids currently bringing the bacon.

Pleased with my start, sat on 80k OR at the moment - my team is looking a little shaky though with a few injuries (Zaha, Cairney, Gunnarson) and a couple of rotation risks (Pedro, Mikhi). I have 2FT so I could probably survive but maybe it would be a good time to WC and get Haz, Mendy in too?

      Ederson
      Alonso Robertson Shaw Cedric
      Salah Pedro Mkhi
      Aguero Firmino Zaha

      Boruc Cairney AWB Gunnarson

Pedro really suits Sarri's style of football, he's also probably Chelsea's most clinical finisher. He's a more certain starter than Willian but might be the first player subbed.

I could make the following transfers to leave me with a nice looking team:

Ederson, Boruc, Shaw, Salah, Mkhi, Pedro, Cairney, Gunnarson, Firmino, Zaha OUT

Begovic, Hart, Mendy, Hazard, Mane, Moura, Dilva, BIlling, Wilson, Ings IN

          Begovic
          Alonso Mendy Robertson
          Hazard Mane Dilva Moura

These will be fluid games, Robertson may have space to provide assists.
He's like a smaller version of Alonso or Mendy.
        Fixture proof.

I can agree that he may not get any attacking returns but what about potential clean sheet? the way Spurs have been playing wouldn't be surprised to see Pool keep a CS …. unless Allison stuffs up of course :p

they're still awaiting the results of Zaha's scan, which is why there's "no timescale on his return", because you can you estimate when you don't know the injury?

it could just as easily be a minor tweak that will resolve itself in two weeks, and since he's at 7.1, even a price fall won't affect you if you've had him since 7.0.

      hold fire!

agree also he is flagged price drops are on hold for now...
i made this mistake the last years moved them out to quickly only to see them returning points after they are back
this season trying to stay strong 🙂

Iheanacho robbing Allison off the ball has got to be the funniest thing going into the international break.

Who would you pick to replace Zaha?

A: Wilson. Gets 90min and has relatively good fixtures

B: Deeney. Gets 90min, fixtures is mixed

C: Ings. Gets his 60 min, not the best fixtures

I think he has nailed down that starting spot...

        I think Ozil Ramsey Aubamayang

No real concerns. Only options i can see would be bilva or mhki downgrade to someone around 5.5(fraser) upgrade madine to a 5.5-6 (Ings, murray, deeney)?

Kinda felt abit forced into wild carding. Annoyingly i had Azpi instead of Alonso and couldn't justify the 'sidewards' move on a FT. Also had Bednarak, Hudson-odoi, Cairney, Walcott, Arnautovic, Firmino and Bernardo Silva i wasn't really happy with. Also Foster and Fab wern't doing too good.

      Now on:
      McCarthy - Hamer
      Holebas-Alonso-Mendy-Robertson-WanBissaka
      Hazard-Fraser-Moura-Mane-Maddison
      Mitrovic-Wilson-Aguero
