There has been plenty of Fantasy Premier League interest surrounding Marco Silva’s new-look Everton side in 2018/19, but is it justified?

Richarlison (£6.7m) and Theo Walcott (£6.8m) have at different times this season been at the centre of the debate and are currently the Toffees’ two most-owned outfielders, so we’re assessing the pros and cons of holding onto either player in the coming weeks.

We’re also taking this opportunity to analyse what impact their new manager has had at Goodison Park since his appointment.

Walcott’s injury-enforced exit after 57 minutes of Everton’s 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town at the weekend capped off a frustrating day for the Toffees and the circa one million FPL managers who owned the former Arsenal winger.

Further updates are awaited on the extent of Walcott’s rib problem and, although he currently is the most-sold midfielder of this round, a large chunk of his owners are sitting on the mid-priced option for now with a plum home fixture against West Ham United to come in Gameweek 5.

While Richarlison has had his deserters since his dismissal in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth a fortnight ago, the Brazilian has – like Walcott – been retained by just under 15% of FPL managers.

That the mass exodus for either player hasn’t happened on a much wider scale is perhaps explained by two factors: Everton’s forthcoming fixtures and Silva’s reputation for delivering attacking football.

A cursory look at the Season Ticker long-term doesn’t cast the Toffees in a favourable light, given that they have trips to Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City to come between now and mid-December.

Filtering by home fixtures, however, gives cause for optimism. Everton top our Season Ticker for matches on home soil between now and Gameweek 16, with the Hammers, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Brighton & Hove Albion, Cardiff City, Newcastle United and Watford all to visit Merseyside during that period.

Even the trips to Stamford Bridge and the Emirates aren’t too daunting from an offensive perspective, given that Chelsea and especially Arsenal have looked a little suspect in defence this season.

Silva’s renown for favouring a more aesthetically pleasing brand of football is something we will explore here, looking at the early impact the former Watford manager has had on Everton’s more attack-minded players from a Fantasy perspective – as well as any notable difference in the performances of his backline.

I think there too many options to go around the template this season and still get good points. Most of teams don't even have arsenal assets up front, while Auba and Laca could be a minefield of fpl points

Anyone brave enough to get Vardy and Lukaku will do well.

Not sure about Vardy, he's a reverse flat track bully and the kind fixtures aren't so helpful for him as for others perhaps. He's kind of a maybe in my mind.

But Lukaku, yes. Lots of reasons to look at him, here are some...

His record against the traditional top-6 teams is 17 goals & 8 assists in 56 games (0.3 goals per game). He has two such games in his next 10. Against weaker opponents he is much more prolific; his record against the 8 other opponents in that 10-game run is 41 goals and 15 assists in 52 appearances (0.79 goals per game).

It is true that for 11m you really need Lukaku performing at the levels he reached in 2016/17, his last season at Everton. Well, based on the limited stats of 4 games so far, he is doing exactly that. Better in fact. And a lot better than last season.

The trick with Lukaku is always about catching him at the right time, and in his case that does seem to relate to fixtures, he is not reputed to be a flat-track bully for nothing. So, put all that together and I think you have a live option. Especially for non-Salah teams, because the Lukaku/Aguero captaincy rotation is immense on paper (and of course means a home captain each and every week). That assumes that Aguero plays all the games, though, and I'm not sure that assumption will be solid once the CL begins, though it probably will be because City don't have a particularly challenging group.

Interesting article but do stats really give the full story?
As was mentioned briefly, Everton played 2 of the 4 games with 10 men and in both games took the lead after the sending off. Who's to tell how many goals they may have scored and how much the stats would have improved with 11 men?
In Walcott's defence, he missed most of pre season with an injury and looked rusty in the first game. In the next two he was excellent but admittedly was poor in gw4 as was the whole team, but again, he came off injured.
Coleman"s lack of attacking threat has finally been noted. He's not been the same since his injury and Baines and now Digne have outshone him in every game.
Everton have struggled since midway through pre season when they switched to zonal marking. Silva has stated they will stick with it and expects them to improve over time. Getting defence assets really should be off the agenda despite how well they may rotate with Holebas or whoever.
They eye test tells me that it's not all doom and gloom. I'll certainly be getting Richarlison back in asap. I'd be happy keeping Walcott too in the short term. Everton under Silva are a work in progress and still have their new signings to come in after the break. Mina, Bernard, Gomes, and the already featured Richarlison and Digne, should see them.progress further.
    Tldr? Up the Toffees.

It's a shame there's no stats for the LC game. Digne nutmegged the Right back 3 times and put some beautiful balls in the box. Granted it was Rotherham though. 😀

    Begovic,
    Mendy, Alonso, Robertson
    Hazard, Fraser, Neves, Mane,
    Aguero, Kane, Ings
    Boruc, Wan-Bisssaka, Bennett, Ward,

Also considering Schmeichel and Lukaku for Begovic and Kane, leaving 1.1 ITB for upgrades.

      Get Hamer over Boruc.

Lukaku + Mitrovic over Ings + Kane. Then you can upgrade Neves a bit. to a 5.5m or Maddison.

Would probably have Ward at Cardiff over Hoijberg.

Still not completely sold on Lacazette, could be good but also could be very frustrating owning.

Hate Hamer. Would have 2 x 4.5 over Schmeichel and Hamer personally.

        Ward 4.5, Holbjerg 4.4 and have 0ITB.

Lacazette i am willing to chance with Arsenal's upcoming fixtures, could very well be the differential i need to climb the ranks?

Considering Patricio/Foster rotation over Schmeichel...still deciding but do really like Leicester's fixtures up until Dec 8th.

Sure fair risks. But Moura could become the most essential pick in the game which is my fear. If he continues to play up top for Spurs at 7.3m in midfield, he's the steal of the season. And I think he likely will at least for a while. He did it in preseason, he's done it in the league, and he's their one and only summer signing.

Another reason to keep Chilwell over Bennett is that it then gives me a decent bench player to come in pretty much every gameweek up until Dec 8th, UCL rotation for the likes of Shaw, Mane could be an issue or perhaps Laca not playing...at least then i have a half decent player to deputise rather than Bennett? Thoughts? Ta.

Nah. Bennett is fine. Wolves can knick random clean sheets if their game vs mcy is anything to go by. If you care a lot about getting a good bench person upgrade Hojbjerg but I don't think it's worth it.

Can't you just swap CHO for Hojberg and keep the other transfer to roll?

    Kepa, Stekelenburg
    TAA, Alonso, Mendy, Trippier, WB
    Salah, Hazard, Fraser, Neves, Masuaku
    Mitrovic, Aguero, King

    Thougts?

Saving free transfer for gw6 then in gw7 I shift out Salah(che, mci) for Richarlison (lei, ful) and King or Mitro for Kane (hud, car), and I switch it back in gw9.

Too much in defence at the expense of the midfield. Downgrade Trippier.

    Wildcard needed?

    Hennessy
Robertson - Mendy - Wan Bissaka

    Zaha - Aguero - Arnautovic

      Yes.

No Hazard, no Alonso, Mkhi Walcott, Cairney Pelt and Kaba all need to go and probably both strikers too.

Should've done it earlier to get price rises.

Can do Alonso in one or two moves though. It's true I'm missing Hazard, but it's hard to get him Salah and Mane all in.

    Fabianski (Foster)
    Robertson, Mendy, AWB (Tomkins*, Bednarek)
    Salah, Dilva, Pedro, Walcott*, Fraser
    Aguero, Auba (Kamara)

    1FT, 0.1 ITB

    Who should I prioritize? Alonso?

Yeah he has to be, but I have to take Auba out to be able to afford him.

Kinda like this WC team with .3 in the bank. Anywhere you think it's worth it to spend that extra dough?

    Patricio / Hennessey
    Alonso / Robertson / Mendy / Holebas / WanB
    Hazard / Mane / Moura / Richarlison / Fraser
    Aguero / Mitro / Wilson

I wouldn't fancy him to score much away to Wolves, home to Newcastle, home to Chelsea or away to City.

        Southampton fixtures are woeful.

I wrote an article on planning in FPL if anyone is interested - it's over 2500 words so quite long but hopefully there's some useful stuff.
