It’s a Scoutcast takeover for the latest edition of FPL Question Time as Fantasy managers prepare for Gameweek 5.

While the first international break of the season is still ongoing, plans are being put in place for the return of Premier League action.

To help you with your dilemmas, which probably revolve around Wildcards, we’ve pulled in members of the Scoutcast team to answer your questions.

You can find out what their answers are Monday.

Who’s on the panel this week?

Joe – Long-time Fantasy Football Scout figure and Scoutcast regular. Proud creator of the Goals Imminent table. He also owns a guitar if you didn’t already know.

Andy – Prominent YouTube streamer and figure within the FPL Twitterati.

Az – Finished in the top 1,000 last season earning him a guest appearance on the FPL TV Show. Once outraged by having to eat a non-toasted sandwich at a Subway in central London.

Ho does this WC team look?

    Hennesey

    Robertson Mendy Alonso
    Hazard Mane Moura Pedro
    Aguero Lacazette Ings

    Stekelenburg Billing Bissaka Bennet

4m keepers don't play. Hamer is not 1st choice. If you want only Hennessey every week go for it

decent, would prefer Dilva and Fraser over Laca and Moura

Laca's bit of a risk with Mkhi on the sidelines

Not too dissimilar to my own WC team, thinking might get Kaku instead of Laca but will require at least 3 £4M players in my team and Holebas instead of Mendy/Robbo

Not a fan of FFS Question Time.

Answering just 3 questions is a bit pointless.

Take the example below. How did this get through editorial? Speaking as someone who submitted community articles on here, this would have been fired back at me. A handful of sentences chucked at you suggests a lack of effort and doesn't really help anyone:

      Question:

How much team value can you potentially earn playing your Wildcard during the international break and is it worth using if your squad doesn’t need a major fix?

      Answer:

“The international break tends to be a steadier time for price rises and falls than many expect. So I’d expect perhaps just one or two players rising twice, to give the all important £0.1 million gained value.

“However, if you cannot afford the price swings to ditch underperforming assets for the in-form players, the Wildcard can still be valuable.

“Beware the fixture swings and chasing early season points though.

“Liverpool in particular have a tricky upcoming spell.”

Yep, have to agree, when I read that when it came out, I'm thinking 'Really?? That's pretty poor, must have been written by a 12 year old' (No insults to 12 year olds intended!)

Would much rather see this as a video or pod with relatively short, sharp answers. A bit like Always Cheating lightning round.

Taken Up the wildcard in this International Break. Confused about a lot of options.
    1. Gone for only one Liverpool option. While dropping Salah for Mane isn't biting my mind that much but Dropping Robertson may come to haunt me. Robertson/Trippier?
    2. I have only one premium forward - Kun. Leicester's fixture looks juicy. Kept Maddison for now. Wondering should I trade in Vardy in place of him?
    3. No Watford player from the beginning. There fixture is tough still they have beaten spurs. So been wondering should I include Mitrovic/Deeney and also holebas.

Rank doesn't look good. Hoping some suggestion will revive my team this season.

    1. Del Griffiths
      • 12 Years

On WC myself. I think dropping Robertson will come back to haunt you-he's so attacking.
Those Watford fixtures do look tricky so I think I'm going to wait and see on them.

Some of the 4.0m defenders have decent fixtures over the next two game weeks, so can afford to bench the likes of Robbo, Shaw if you are worried about their fixtures or injuries.

    Ederson / Stek
Mendy / Robbo / Kabasele / Tomkins / Wan Biss
    Salah / Hazard / Mhki / Richarlison/ Stephens
    Aguero / Mitro / King

How desperate should I be to engineer Alonso in?
Have only 1 FT and 0.1 ITB so will take a lot of shuffling and a big hit unless I WC

    Was thinking WC to this?
    King > Ings 0.8
    Mhki > Fraser 1.5
    Tomkins > Bennett 0.4
    Kabasele > Alonso

    Leaves 0.4

Answer the question, who do you think will score more points, Salah/Bilva or Mane/Haz? I think the latter by a long shot!!

How important is it for you to take a few risks on a WC? Or do you use your WC to create a solid template-esque platform to build on?

I can see both arguments, but I like the idea of going a little off the beaten template: not quite to a 'maverick' extent, but with a few calculated punts. WC is a chance to get in players you mightn't risk a FT or hit on. It's an opportunity to get ahead of the curve - to own players as differentials before they go on a run and people want to get them in.

At the moment, I have Monreal, Shaw*, Dilva, Vardy as my slightly differential picks. I know I will get huge satisfaction if they score well, and I feel they give my team a bit of personality. Sure, they might crash and burn, my decision to get rid of Salah might fail miserably, but I feel that it's a risk worth taking.

People on WC, what kind of approach are you taking?

I'm not wildcarding this early because it is a huge mistake but I would say get the core template and take risks around the edges.

So GW9. Yeah, that's a useful timing to re-load on Liverpool too.

I can see myself quite possibly pushing it all the way back to GW15 this season. Depends how many surprises there are in the next 4 weeks.

I don't think it's ever a huge mistake to WC if your team needs it.

I could continue with my team until say GW8, but probably have to take a few hits between now and then and also would probably be only leaking points I could have gotten on my WC.

Only took 3 or 4 hits last season and didn't do well at all. Changing it up this year and already taken two -4's. I think hits can be valuable early on to not miss price rises.

I imagine you would need to be incredibly lucky to have to not take a single hit for the year. Would need to get hit with very few injuries/suspensions/rotations.

If you get knocked out, should be mandatory to not play for two weeks with light training only. Should be mandatory to give more time to recover and look for memory loss, headaches, dizzyness; a few of the symptoms that show the severity of the concussion. It's way worst if one has had a concussion then plays and concusses early again. And long term from multiple hits will bring on CTE.
There is even concern of headers bringing it on. Often it's not just the big bumps; its accumulative little ones that does the permanent damage
In pro, college and even highschool American football, the players brains show more damaged areas from the lineman (guys up on the line) who come up and hit each other every play. They aren't huge impact collisions but since they are often the heaviest guys and hitting over and over, often their heads hit. That's opposed to the guys flying along and get hit in harder open field tackles

I know in boxing, it's often 'safer' to get KO'd straight than take sustained shots for 12 rounds. Lots of rugby players having to retire early due to concussions - like you said, it's the repetitive contacts as opposed to one big hit.

Kevin Doyle had to retire as he was getting repetitive headaches and concussions. Granted he was 34 and winding down anyway, but heading was always a big part of his game.

Are there not concussion protocols in soccer like in rugby. Even a suspected concussion in rugby is a mandetory 18 days away from the game

    Alonso Mendy Robbo WanB//Peltier
    Salah Hazard Mhki Bilva //Kante
    Aguero Wilson // Madine

1 free transfer.. which move is better?

    A: Mhkitaryan + Kante > Fraser + Maddison (-4pts)

    B: Mkhitaryan + Bilva > Fraser + David Silva (-4pts)

Every time I sell a good player, it blows up in my face. I was all set to bring in Hazard for Mane or by sacrificing Auba this week, but with both returning last week I'm reluctant now. I think I'll just deal with Cairney and get Fraser, roll the 2nd FT and reassess next week. Make sense? Can always raise funds by selling PvA for Bennett, then Mane>Hazard.. I just know if I sell PvA and Auba with their decent fixtures they'll both return and Hazard will blank!!

    Ryan
    Mendy Robbo PvA
    Salah Mane Fernandinho CAIRNEY
    Aguero(c) Auba Ings

Salah has not made his impact yet so for 1 week only I am shipping out Salah to bring in Hazard who play Cardiff next. It is too tempting to leave. so I will keep the money to bring Salah back in the following GW's

I think there's more pressing issues with your team than to be doing some hockey pokey to get Hazard in. Cairney and Fernan not good enough to be starting 11 imo, and there's a lack of Alonso which could be a problem.

Cairney --> Fraser is a sensible move on paper, nothing immediately jumping out at me that would use both FT to improve that midfield, other than dropping Salah (probably for a hit), but that's obvs risky. Think your plan is sound. Have you WC / When do you plan to WC?

Yes still have the w/c, didn't use it until last minute last year so not too worried.

I'm thinking Fraser in, as Cainey is crocked and Ings is ineligible in a few weeks. Then either PvA>Bennet next week to fund Haz, or take Auba out with 2 FTs and bring Haz in for Fernandinho...

I'd like Alonso in but just can't see how to fund it. I didn't honestly plan to have Aguero this year the original plan was to bring in KdB for Fernandinho in GW3 and then Aguero>6.5m striker but that obviously fell by the wayside with the injury..
