RMT Collection – International Break WC: Gregor

With many users on their Wildcard, there are many Rate My Teams (RMTs) on site. Let’s try to collect them here.

Site regular and moderator Gregor has given us his Wildcard team and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team, and please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted, and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Gregor’s WC RMT

Begovic McCarthy

Mendy Robertson Alonso Doherty AWB

D.Silva Salah Ramsey Pedro Ward

Aguero Mitrovic Wilson

Goalkeepers

Begovic and McCarthy – I like to have a choice of goalkeepers and someone to fall back on in case of injuries, etc; I also don’t trust Hamer so i’ve gone with these two.  Their home fixtures normally rotate quite well – McCarthy’s looking good for saves and Bournemouth seem to have tightened up at the back.  I also like the Patricio and Hennessey rotation but as I’ve got those defences covered I decided to look elsewhere.

Defence

The holy trinity – Alonso, Mendy and Robertson.  Don’t think this needs much explaining other than to say I had started the season with Van Dijk due his threat at corners and feeling that Robertson will miss the odd game around the Champions League, but given Van Dijk has yet to have a single shot and the strength of my 4th and 5th defenders to fall back on, I’m now going with Robbo.

Doherty and Wan-Bissaka – Bargainous attack minded defenders playing for solid defensive outfits and their favourable fixtures seem to rotate rather nicely.  I may even play Doherty over Robertson this week.

Midfielders

David Silva – Nicely priced, posting good underlying numbers and hopefully should be pretty secure for starts for the time being at least given his international retirement and De Bruyne’s absence.

Salah – The Egyptian Messi – He stays.

Ramsey – Looks to be more in favour than Mkhitaryan and should thrive in a central attacking role. A nice differential with good fixtures, all for a reduced £7.4m.

Pedro – Probably a placeholder for Richarlison who I might look to bring back in a week or two but will see how it goes. Nice and rested during the international break so will hopefully compensate for having no Hazard over the next couple of plum fixtures for Chelsea.

Danny Ward – Easily benched given Cardiff’s fixtures but has an attacking threat that you don’t often find at his price. I also like the look of Hojbjerg though and could go with him to save an extra £0.1m.

Forwards

Aguero – If I hadn’t wildcarded I would have seriously considered playing my triple captain on Kün this weekend; the leaky Fulham defence seems a much better bet for a haul than the well organized Newcastle one last time out.

Mitrovic – Probably my biggest regret so far this season is not sticking with Mitrovic in my initial draft and going with King due to fixtures.  I fancy he might even do well at City this weekend in what I hope to be an open game.

Wilson – Form and fixtures align to make Wilson hard to resist, more shots in the box than any other player this season and if he can start converting more big chances then he’ll really be in business. I barely even considered him at the start of the season as I had him last year and he did nothing for ages but it’s an easy downgrade to Ings or Jiminez if the goals do dry up.

Notes

No Man United, as I don’t trust them at the moment and a win over an insipid Burnley could just be papering over the cracks.

No Spurs due to stadium issues, potential fatigue given their players international excursions, and a tough Champions League group. Might look at changing David Silva to Son or Moura in a few weeks though if one of those looks to have secured their start.

Conclusion

What do you think of my team? Where have I gone right and where have I gone wrong?

What does your WC team look like?

Don’t forget to reply to others while you’re here!

How's this? Was so tempted to ditch Salah and get Mane/Dilva, but I know he will hurt me? Will this do?

    Hart/Beg (Any other better combos?)

    Alonso Robbo Mendy (AWB Bennett)

    Salah, Haz Wally Fraser (Billing)

    Ag (C) Wilson Mitro

Wally to Rich in 2 weeks

    Cheers!

You could then even think about Schurrle for Fraser, he could be a very nice pick

Yep, I had Schurrle, but Frasers stats are great, takes corners etc and games good, but I get it he may not play this week which is an issue... I'll do some tweaking with the .5.. could even ditch Wally for Pedro for 2 weeks then get Rich back..

Cheers T. I know Ramsey could easily give way to Mikhi but the stats looked as good as a no. 10 against Cardiff so it's a punt I'm willing to stick with. If he scores then it's his spot to lose

Mate I would change Wilson....last season kept him for 6-8 GWs....and complete disaster......well he reminds me of his qualities....but truth is that he is on the price raise.....once he blank 1-2 GW he is out of many suqads. Also check Bournemouth as if I remember well they scored 5 goals....2 from open play and 3 from Set Pieces.....And he lost penalty points.....

    RMT WC?

    Mendy - Robertson - Alonso - (AWB - 4.0 fodder)
    Salah - Mane - Moura - Neves - (Kante)
    Aguero - Zaha - Ings

    Would result in 0.0 ITB

(However, this WC only requires 3 moves from my current team: VVD --> Robertson, Daniels --> Alonso, Richarlison --> Kante)

Worth it? It would take minimum of 3 weeks to get there (sitting on 1 FT), if no price changes.

    1. Nolberto Solano
      • 13 Years
      6 years, 2 months ago

Richarlison will be back after this GW and most people would want him back in soon.

If I were you just take a hit to get alonso in. Robertson doesn’t have the greatest fixtures

RMT, not on a WC but worried about Fraser, Walcott and Zaha injuries.

    DDG, Hamer
    Alonso, Robbo, Mendy, AWB, Bennet
    Salah, Mane, Fraser, Walcott, Stephens
    Kun, Zaha Ings

    0.8itb, no FT

I don't think it warrants a WC but should I take a hit on Fraser? Or Wally? Would have to be to Gray or something similarly priced.

    Cheers!

Don't think you need a WC here, might end up with a couple off your bench thought this week

Nothing to worry about. Bench looks okay, Stephens will get 2 points, Bennett might as well. One of the three injured players might even start!

Right, think I'm ready to go. 0.2 ITB

    Patricio/Foster
    Chilwell, Mendy, Alonso, Rico, AWB
    Salah, Dilva, Pedro, Fraser, Ward
    Vardy, Mitrovic, Aguero

    All good here?

Really like it 🙂 Nice GK/DEF rotation..... I would change Rico to Cook as 3 of BOU goals came from set pieces.

And Rico will take those set pieces, so I would defo not change Rico to Cook ^^

Looks nice ^^ Hope for your sake that Fraser's hamstring won't cause you any concerns, as he most probablty wont play this GW, and perhaps not the next.

    Which option would you choose
    1) Begovic + Hamer, Bennett + AWB + Holebas and Pedro (have Hazard)
    2) Begovic + McCarthy, Doherty + AWB and 3.9 def and Maddisson

      Close one, probably 2

      2. BOU will not be as solid defensively with Rico on LB, but more attacking minded. And Hamer might not even get more matches this season, so you cannot rotate.

That said, downgrade Maddison to a cheaper fourth mid and you can afford a playing fifth def. You will need it this season ^^

Thoughts on my last minute WC tweaks? No Salah, so the panic is real

      McCarthy, Hennessey;
      Alonso, Mendy, Bennett, Holebas, AWB
Hazard, Moura, Mane, Hojberg, (Schurrle/ Pedro/ Walcott)
      Vardy, Mitrovic, AguerI

Bennett might lose his place to Dendoncker when he is considered match fit and ready.

Two defs from CPL is risky, imo, seeing how they have played the last three games.

I reckon Højbjerg is bench fodder. If so, the rest of the team looks very nice ^^ Vardy as second fwd gives you four attacking captain options, impressive.

Kept faith with Josh King instead of bringing in his strike partner Wilson.

0.2m swing! need a massive performance & haul from him otherwise he is gone

You should have gone with Ings!

Any last minute comments to my WC team before I hit the button?

    Schmeichel, McCarthy
    Alonso, Mendy, Holebas, Rico, AWB
    Salah, Hazard, Moura, Ghezzal, Ward
    Aguero, Mitro, Wilson

I, myself, feel quite certain that this team will get lots of points for the next ten GWs ^^
