There are plenty of options to help Fantasy Premier League managers invest in Manchester City’s attack for Gameweek 5.

The defending champions are facing a leaky Fulham defence at home on Saturday with a lot of attention on Sergio Aguero (£11.3m), but we’ve found there’s a case to be made for his strike partner too.

Elsewhere, we’ve got routes into the Southampton defence and Leicester attack to help propel you up the rankings.

Gabriel Jesus (£10.4m)

Ownership: 2.0%

If Gabriel Jesus starts for Manchester City in Gameweek 5, he has the potential to score very big. Fulham look set to concede heavily in this one with no side allowing more shots in the penalty box than the Cottagers in the first four Gameweeks.

Jesus has a good chance of capitalising on that having actually bettered Sergio Aguero (£11.3m) in some areas so far this season. He is ahead on minutes per shot in the penalty box, minutes per shot on target, and minutes per pass received too.

The Brazilian has played fewer minutes than his Argentinian in 2018/19 (187 to 335) having started half as many times. That could mean that he is named on the bench against Fulham, but he has started alongside Aguero in both home matches so far. If that trend continues in Gameweek 5, then he could match or even outscore his more popular colleague.

Jannik Vestergaard (£4.9m)

Ownership: 0.4%

Southampton’s towering centre-back has the potential for a big score in Gameweek 5 with a clean sheet and attacking returns all achievable for him.

The Southampton defence is expected to do well on Monday night as they host a Brighton side that has been largely ineffective on the road.

The Seagulls are currently the worst side in the league for big chances and shots on target recorded in away games.

The Saints admittedly rank fourth worst for big chances conceded at home, and only five sides have allowed more shots on target. However, goalkeeper Alex McCarthy (£4.5m) is third for saves so far and second for xG prevented. That suggests the Saints will concede less and keep more clean sheets than their underlying numbers suggest.

Furthermore, Vestergaard carries some goal threat having scored seven times in his spell with Borussia Monchengladbach. Brighton look primed to concede from set pieces having allowed more attempts from such situations than any side other than Cardiff and Newcastle.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m)

Ownership: 3.3%

Leicester City’s talismanic striker Jamie Vardy (£8.9m) is set to return to action in Gameweek 5 after serving a three-match suspension.

His absence since his sending off in Gameweek 2 has caused the typically well-backed striker to drop to just 3.3% ownership, giving him the potential to be a powerful differential.

The Foxes rank highly for attack on our Season Ticker currently with a trip to Bournemouth coming up in Gameweek 5. After that, Leicester face a home match against Huddersfield, an away match at Newcastle before hosting Everton.

Vardy can be very effective for that run of matches having scored at least 20 goals in two of the last three seasons.

Ings can't play against parent club Liverpool in GW6 so I would just get Mitrovic when he is on fire at the moment.

Alonso. Higher ceiling, higher floor and nailed on.

Pedro is by any means not a bad pick, but he is a rotation risk, until proven nailed.

      I have both though.

So everyone is getting Pedro because his 1pointer luckily ended up in a goal and Jonty said he looked at the 'stats' on him and decided he was the best option. First rule of FPL is looking for a nailed on player, Pedro is not nailed on, he'll share minutes with Willian / Hazard every week...you lot amaze me.

    1. Limbo
      • 16 Years

He's done well so far. He is a great footballer, better under Sair, and folk are looking for a placeholder for Richarlison.

This. He is a decent pick for a couple of weeks when I don’t have Hazard

Although I agree to a point, you can’t look at any top team & say that they will be immune from rotation. Even the premium price options could easily be benched around the CL/EL so everyone will share minutes

    WC

    Hennessey (Hamer)
    Holebas / [undecided] / Pereira (Wan/Bennett)
Pedro / Mane / Salah / Hazard (Ward)
    Aguero / Zaha / Mitro

5.1 itb for Tark or Shaw (and eventually get TAA back).

A team without Alonso/Mendy is probably daft. But is it as daft as not having all of Hazard, Aguero, Salah and Mane (all make big money moves for Kane easier) + I can see Mitro and Zaha carrying form into the coming weeks. Pedro out for Richarlison GW6. Holebas has been fantastic to own. Think the same will be said of Pereira soon. In the season's I've done well in, a well chosen triple £5m defence has been a great enabler. Perhaps I'm being too attack minded, but CSs have been few and far between this season, and the assist/goal threat of all defenders is going vary a bit, isn't it..? Alonso been lucky a couple of times IMO.

    1. SADIO SANÉ
      • 11 Years

I've basically got that team, I like it obviously - most people are choosing two of Salah, Mane & Hazard BECAUSE they have Alonso - I prefer your team

      1. Limbo
        • 16 Years
        8 years, 4 days ago

It's very tempting. I'm not pulling the trigger until tomorrow as have a lot of value in Mendy and Alonso but feel the time to go big up front is now.

        1. SADIO SANÉ
          • 11 Years
          8 years, 4 days ago

any combination of Chilwell/Pereira, Shaw/TAA, Jonny/Doherty, AWB/Bennett is good enough imo - Alonso is not worth 2.4m more than Jonny/Doherty imo - in fact it's not even close imo, just need a few of the premium mids to start firing

          1. Limbo
            • 16 Years
            8 years, 4 days ago

Yeah. Alonso is incredible to own, but owning him means that I have to choose 2 x 6.5m midfielders AND lose one of Hazard or Mane. + There are great options in defence at around the £5.0m mark

            1. SADIO SANÉ
              • 11 Years
              8 years, 4 days ago

exactly - I hope you're right, I can WC if it goes wrong but I really do think it's the right way to go

Well yesterday he was pretty much ruled out, but today he's training...

He’s been flagged as 75% for a while so I wouldn’t say he was ever “practically ruled out”. Ppl just shipping prematurely imo

He's ok, will be checked for any reactions in training tomorrow

I have your Salah team just with Chilwell, Maddison, and Billing instead of Holebas, Pedro, and Ward. So, A.

      A edges it for me.

You could consider TAA over Peirera, but with Leicesters fixtures, i'd go for A.

Would NOT sell Mane if you already have him. Same goes for Robbo. So if you currently have them both, then B
