In this article, we take a look at how the current top 10,000 teams in Fantasy Premier League shaped up for Gameweek 6.

First of all, it is important to note that we are still in the very early stages of the season and the ranks of the current top 10k managers fluctuate wildly from week to week.

As we can see from the above graphic, the difference between the top 10k and top 50k is just 20 points. Add another 11 points difference and you reach the top 100k. The margins, therefore, are still very tight and we shouldn’t be too concerned about our overall ranks at this juncture.

As for chip usage, 4.3% of managers in the top 10k used their Wildcard this week. This pushes the usage of the chip among this sample of FPL bosses to 48.38%, meaning that almost half of the top 10,000 managers’ wildcards have already been used.

As expected, the current top 10k managers have benefited from the use of more chips than the average overall. In a sample of 50,000 random managers, the total Wildcard use is just 27.23%.

However, there are still 42.5% of current top 10k teams who are yet to deploy a chip, which gives them a competitive edge at this point.

Onto team selection. Below is a team of the most-owned players in the top 10k:

One of the key things to notice is how the ownership of Mohamed Salah has been declining fast and he is now in just 34% of the sampled teams. His teammate, Sadio Mane, has more than double that ownership with almost 70%. In addition, Eden Hazard‘s ownership in the top 10k has spiked to 89.55%, a close second to Sergio Aguero who has 89.82%.

Aguero is also leading the captaincy stats in the top 10k as we see below:

Looking more into the Wildcard teams, with this being the chip most widely deployed in Gameweek 6, we see that the Wildcarders opted for some different picks than the most-owned players.

The main difference is the non-inclusion of Benjamin Mendy among the most-owned defenders due to his injury – Wildcarders instead went for cheap options like Matt Doherty and Ryan Bennett of Wolves.

Another key name not featuring in the “template” Wildcard team is Salah. Richarlison and James Maddison replace him, while, of course, Hazard is in practically every Wildcard team (94.65%).

To see which Premier League sides have made bigger contributions to the top 10k teams, we look at the following figure:

Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are the main sources for picks in the top 10k, with averages of 2.2, 2.1 and 2.0 players per FPL team. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace contribute 1.6 players per team – mostly Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. There is also at least one (1.1) Bournemouth player in every top 10k team.

As for Wildcarders, those five aforementioned teams are still the top five sides to pick from, but with more distribution between them.

The number of Liverpool players remains the same, with Roberto Firmino and the Reds’ defenders replacing Salah, while the number of Manchester City players is decreasing in Wildcards from 2.2 to just 1.7; the absence of Mendy and the usual midfield rotation could be the main reasons for such a decline. On the rise though is the ownership of Crystal Palace (1.6 to 1.8), Bournemouth (1.1 to 1.2), Fulham (0.6 to 0.7) and Leicester (0.5 to 0.7) assets, as all enjoy decent fixtures in the coming weeks.

Apologies if already asked to death...

If you've had Mendy from Gwk1 - is it a good idea to sell?
I mean, I'm going to want him back as soon as he's fit anyway, and my bench can cope.

I can't see it being more than a few weeks if it's not a fracture/break?

    Any advice/thoughts are very welcome.

It takes a while to heal (metatarsals). I'd say he's like 20% to play this week and the fixture after is Liverpool away. Would get rid now. He'll drop to like 6.3 by the time you'll want him back

I'm not 100% sure if there's a benefit or a loss in selling and rebuying. He's grown from 6m since I signed him.

I sold being in your situation. He'll most likely drop to £6.3, as mentioned, and then you lose only £0.1. It's your decision weather having one more active player is worth it.

        That's my gut feeling TBH.

        I have:

        Hennessey/Patricio
        Mendy/Alonso/Robertson/Bennett/AWB
        Richarlison/Salah/Hazard/Fraser/Milner
        Aguero/Ings/Mitrovic

Just no desperate NEED to sell Mendy, unless his value's going to absolutely plummet if he's out weeks.

I'm still trying to get my head around price rises/falls though, so it's possible I'm missing reasons to keep/sell.

Same defence. Bennett and AWB have good enough fixtures so happily keeping for now. In hindsight should've kept Richarlison as well (given I bought him back for this week and used 2 FTs for that).

But your team is in good shape and no other issues to fix, selling Mendy is an option for sure.

            Thanks Man.

Yeah, unless something occurs to Haz/Rich I feel like I'm currently in good shape.
I might swap Mendy out for Trip tonight then, in case Trip gets a 0.1 (looks unlikely tonight, but likely through the week)...? Spurs fixtures suggests he's a bright choice.

Unless something happened to Haz/Richarlison over the next few days, no other concerns really...

    4. MTPockets

Depends on injury timescale and if you need him to play in the interim.

I sold this week for Trippier .. I had a Ft though .. my thinking is that I sold him for 6.2 .. he will prob drop to 6.3 so getting him back no real dramas .. I’m not sure he will make this gw and prob wouldn’t want him week after ., didnt like the idea of him spending 3-4 weeks on my bench..

Yes. And in case of another injury we have already collected that .2. So let us say that even if he drops only to 6.3 and we get him back at that price we have lost only .1 tv. If he rises to 6.5 and we sell him then again, we gain .1 million sales value mor than those who have kept him all the time.

If his injury isn't long term I'm keeping him 'for the season' and not wasting my valuable transfers selling and buying him back, especially when my bench can more than cover for him.

Man, I'm so torn on this. I can see both sides of it.

The only real reason I'm debating selling is that I've not currently got any other issues. It couldn't hurt to bring in Trip to cover for a few weeks...

Gonna have to sleep on it maybe.

I need a route to Hazard. One of these two is the prime contender. I was hoping Salah would make the decision easy but he was much better today. I think I will do Mane to Hazard personally.

Considering the same. Salah at least gets a lot of chances. Ig Hazard scores a brace again tomorrow the move is very tempting.

Not the best short term fixtures coming. I really hope he stays quiet tomorrow. If not think I'll do Salah Ings to Hazard Vardy and keep Mane for now. Option would be just Mane to Hazard. Have plenty ITB so have all sort of alternative options I could do instead.

Mendy > Trippier seems fairly logical considering Mendy being out for atleast two more weeks and Trippier with three upcoming plum fixtures?

According to RMT-tool Ben Davies is better option and more likely to play all 3.

Plum fixtures, except Barcelona in between and a manager who rotates.

Trippier is a good pick. The problem is that TOT is struggling to keep a CS. Shaw may be the value pick.

Safe FT or do Mane -> Maddison?

    Hennesey
    Alonso Trippier TAA Wan-Bis
    Hazard Salah Mane Richarlison
    Aguero Ings

    Hamer Kante Kamara Cook

Wolves-Leicester in EFL tuesday, and neither are rising or falling yet. So would wait for now.

Mendy + mane -> Laporte + hazard (-4pts) worth it?

Smalling or Shaw most nailed on?
    Or both at risk....

        Thanks, can't decide...
Jones and Bailley out the picture?
Shaw did ok but not sure if
        Young coming back in more.

Could you recommend me some players on my WC?

For now, I think that for sure I want these ones:

    Patricio/Hamer
    Alonso/Walker/Trippier/WB/Bennet
    Maddison/Hazard/1/2/3
    Kun/Mitro/4

Walker as placeholder for Mendy while Trippier will become Robbo/TAA for GW9.

Main dilemma how to fill rest of the team goes with Salah vs Kane...

      Richa Fraser Hojbierg Kane ?

If you ask me, Kane is worth it to play him next two weeks especially if you can replace Salah with someone who can match or score more points than him. Im getting Richarlison who can produce big against Fulham and Leicester.

Probably Neves. But if that’s your only problem then you’re swell
