In this article, we take a look at how the current top 10,000 teams in Fantasy Premier League shaped up for Gameweek 6.

First of all, it is important to note that we are still in the very early stages of the season and the ranks of the current top 10k managers fluctuate wildly from week to week.

As we can see from the above graphic, the difference between the top 10k and top 50k is just 20 points. Add another 11 points difference and you reach the top 100k. The margins, therefore, are still very tight and we shouldn’t be too concerned about our overall ranks at this juncture.

As for chip usage, 4.3% of managers in the top 10k used their Wildcard this week. This pushes the usage of the chip among this sample of FPL bosses to 48.38%, meaning that almost half of the top 10,000 managers’ wildcards have already been used.

As expected, the current top 10k managers have benefited from the use of more chips than the average overall. In a sample of 50,000 random managers, the total Wildcard use is just 27.23%.

However, there are still 42.5% of current top 10k teams who are yet to deploy a chip, which gives them a competitive edge at this point.

Onto team selection. Below is a team of the most-owned players in the top 10k:

One of the key things to notice is how the ownership of Mohamed Salah has been declining fast and he is now in just 34% of the sampled teams. His teammate, Sadio Mane, has more than double that ownership with almost 70%. In addition, Eden Hazard‘s ownership in the top 10k has spiked to 89.55%, a close second to Sergio Aguero who has 89.82%.

Aguero is also leading the captaincy stats in the top 10k as we see below:

Looking more into the Wildcard teams, with this being the chip most widely deployed in Gameweek 6, we see that the Wildcarders opted for some different picks than the most-owned players.

The main difference is the non-inclusion of Benjamin Mendy among the most-owned defenders due to his injury – Wildcarders instead went for cheap options like Matt Doherty and Ryan Bennett of Wolves.

Another key name not featuring in the “template” Wildcard team is Salah. Richarlison and James Maddison replace him, while, of course, Hazard is in practically every Wildcard team (94.65%).

To see which Premier League sides have made bigger contributions to the top 10k teams, we look at the following figure:

Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are the main sources for picks in the top 10k, with averages of 2.2, 2.1 and 2.0 players per FPL team. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace contribute 1.6 players per team – mostly Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. There is also at least one (1.1) Bournemouth player in every top 10k team.

As for Wildcarders, those five aforementioned teams are still the top five sides to pick from, but with more distribution between them.

The number of Liverpool players remains the same, with Roberto Firmino and the Reds’ defenders replacing Salah, while the number of Manchester City players is decreasing in Wildcards from 2.2 to just 1.7; the absence of Mendy and the usual midfield rotation could be the main reasons for such a decline. On the rise though is the ownership of Crystal Palace (1.6 to 1.8), Bournemouth (1.1 to 1.2), Fulham (0.6 to 0.7) and Leicester (0.5 to 0.7) assets, as all enjoy decent fixtures in the coming weeks.

Which transfer would you do to get Kane in for a hit? Planning to use WC before GW9

Tough one. Probably Alli > Hughes. Contrary to previous performances I still think Salah can explode, even against top six sides

Just been beaten by Luke Campbell at Wembley on the AJ undercard.

ooking at Kane over Kun on a WC. Aguero's rotation risk is frustrating, he could have had 2/3 today had he remained on longer. You may argue Kane's form has been poor, but he did look a bit livelier tonight, and we all know it is only a matter of time before he turns things around. Aguero has hardly been on top form himself. Isn't one of the keys to success in this game to try and get ahead of the curve?
I have also managed to build a decent team with him, Salah & Hazard. I even have 0.4 ITB
Anyone else considering the switch? Am I mad?

    Hennessey, Hamer
    Alonso, Trippier, TAA, Doherty, AWB
    Salah, Hazard, Richarlison, Fraser, Hojberg

Looks good. No City attack is a massive risk though. Also Palace has tough fixtures GW10-13, think having Ryan or Patricio is worth it. Doherty to Bennet would give you funds for that.

None of them. And with Kane/Salah/(Hazard) you have brilliant fixtures for captaincy in coming weeks. Going without Aguero is surely an option worth considering. I'll have very similar team next week, dropping one Pool mid for Kane/Hazard and keeeping Aguero.

Who else needs Hazard to blank?

I am now ranked 1506 and I don't have hazard.

Looking at the stats above shows 80%+ in the top 10k have hazard so if he does well, I'm plummeting hard

Did me a world of good.... No Haz and on 51 with Pedro, Alonso and Fabianski (lol) to play. Only silver lining is Hughes is first sub with 6 points

Been a damp squib of a couple of weeks but don’t want to chase points. What would you do here?

    1FT £1.2itb
    Foster, Fabianski
    Alonso, Robbo, PVA, AWB, Mendy*
    Salah, Mané, Fraser, Pedro*, Hughes
    Aguero, Wilson, Kamara

    Tempted by something like:
Mané, Pedro, Mendy > Hazard, Dilva, Doherty (-8)

I don’t want to be salty but Haz and Rich not ripping it up tmrw would soften the blow somewhat!!

    Masuaku to Fellaini

    To get

    Ederson, Stekelenburg
    TAA, Alonso, Trippier, WB, Doherty
    Hazard, Richarlison, Fraser, Maddison, Fellaini
    Kane, Kun, King

0.6 itb and if needed I can switch back Maddison or Richarlison to Salah and Kane to Mitro after gw8.

    GK: Ederson, Foster
DEF: Walker, Davies, Shaw, Boly, AWB
MID: Salah, Hazard, Maddison, Fraser, Neves
    FWD: Aguero, Wilson, Jiménez

Do I do a straight swap for Trips, or perhaps Bellarín for the upside play? I don't think I want to buy Chelsea or Liverpool D this week going into a few tough weeks but any guidance here will be helpful haha

Didn't play last year so never used the free hit before.. how useful was it in the GW last year where not everyone plays?

Thinking it is almost tempting next week - maybe not for me just quite but for some others. I have Mendy out, Che vs Liv playing each other (only 3 across these teams for me, others could have 4-6) and no Spurs players when they have a pretty good fixture.

Think if Spurs were home and looked to have turned form around + i had more from Che/Liv could be real tempted.
